They were too big because I didn't know military sizes are smaller. I went by the size I knew and didn't try them on. But I wore them for a couple of years anyway. I still have a deactivated pineapple grenade and a live .50 caliber round I bought there at about the same time. Also more than a few books bought over the years.Shellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17673609316649175930noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1444550425694584077.post-89982887075592241142016-10-16T06:10:16.186-04:002016-10-16T06:10:16.186-04:00Hey Doug, I wish I had grabbed a Mauser or 2 at t...Hey Doug, I wish I had grabbed a Mauser or 2 at that price. I have several "Battle Rifles" I got in the 90's from Roses in Griffin. Still have them and wish Roses was still selling them. I am leary of online, got burned by one so I like to touch it before I buy it.MrGarabaldihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05768774166065615995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1444550425694584077.post-5245746569045152962016-10-16T06:07:51.452-04:002016-10-16T06:07:51.452-04:00Hey Old NFO;

Government isn't buying as much stuff, so there's less to surplus. As a kid in the late '60s/early 70s, surplus stores were still packed with WWII leftovers. Some were stocked heavy on milsurp rifles. I recall Mausers advertised for $16.95. Enfields weren't much more. I buy stuff online, but you have to parse out what's real and what's knock-off. I bought some vintage USGI wool blankets last year, felt I got a pretty good deal from the online seller.
