Worthwhile goals or bucket list.

I got this idea from a couple of good blog buddies Daddy Bear and Peter
they were discussion how many weapons that they have fired that were designed by Gods own designer
John Moses Browning.   I will highlight the ones that I have fired.   It is a worthwhile goal and the sheer brilliance of the man that designed soo many of the iconic firearms that are still in the world today.  People will upgrade and improve the original, but you know that the original will perform as advertised.

In addition, the cartridges he developed are still some of the most popular in the world. They include:

I have fired every cartridge he has designed.   My favorite is the 45ACP, Gods own caliber

Who Said it?

got this from Boortz

Considering Barack Obama’s campaign to increase taxes and grow the size of our government, I want you to consider the following quote.  Do you think you can name the author?
"Taxes are the source of life for the bureaucracy [and] for the whole apparatus of executive power. Strong government and heavy taxes are identical." These taxes, "rob [the peasant's] industry of its last resources and aid and complete his powerlessness to resist pauperism." For the taxpaying class, "strong and unlimited government ... has become a vampire that sucks out its blood and marrow."

Steve Bridges as President Obungler

Steve Bridges doing an impression of Obungler, the Same Steve Bridges has done "W" Bush, Bill Clinton and the Governator.   As I understand it, Obungler is offended by this act whereas the other people mentioned think the acts are great.   Obungler's skin is kinda thin...but I guess the Messiah complex was supposed to shield him from satire.

Here is Steve Bridges as "W"     you can go to www.stevebridges.com

Racist for Cain

I have stated more than once that I do prefer Herman Cain.  All of the candidates in the GOP field will do a better job than Obungler has done.  From what I have seen and read, Obungler is trotting out the class warfare rhetoric, it will work with those Americans that don't pay taxes( the bottom 50%) and have a huge case of wealth envy and having Obungler promise to take money from the people that work and give it to them.
"Give me some of that Obama money"

         I got this from Townhall
Do not suppose for a minute that Herman Cain's victory in the Florida straw poll will alter the liberal narrative about the Tea Party and Republicans. No, we will continue to be instructed by the Congressional Black Caucus, the Today Show and The New York Times that the eruption of the Tea Parties is a reflection of the dark id of American conservatism; that it is primarily racist and xenophobic; and that the Tea Party movement is radical and extremist.
Waving the "bloody shirt" of racism has been the most reliable workhorse of Democratic politics for at least a generation. Remember the wall-to-wall coverage of the "epidemic" of black church fires in the 1990s? Remember George W. Bush's "insensitivity" regarding the ghastly lynching of James Byrd? The epidemic turned out to be imaginary and Bush was happy to sign the death warrant for one of Byrd's murderers, but the tactic is too precious for Democrats to abandon.
It will take some imagination to explain away Herman Cain's success. Among the very voters Democrats demonize, Cain achieved a resounding victory with 37.1 percent of the vote -- more than twice the percentage of his next, nearest competitor Rick Perry, who received 15.4 percent.
And it wasn't that Republicans and conservatives were acting upon an affirmative action spirit -- trying to prove that they too could pull the lever for a black guy. It's that Herman Cain delivers a great speech, is willing to propose solutions commensurate with our problems and is possessed of a remarkably sunny personality. As the Washington Examiner's Byron York reported, "It's not an exaggeration to say that his power as an orator sealed the deal for hundreds of delegates. They believed Cain was speaking to them from the heart, and they were carried away by it."
And it doesn't hurt that Cain embodies the Horatio Alger rise to success that liberals dismiss as myth but conservatives still believe.
Raised in pre-civil rights Georgia by working class parents (his mother was a maid and his father worked as a janitor, a barber and a chauffeur), Cain got a degree in mathematics from Morehouse College and then a master's in computer science at Purdue. While in school, he worked for the Navy in ballistics. Upon leaving the Navy, he entered the heart of corporate America, working first for the Coca-Cola Co., later for Pillsbury and then Burger King. The division of Burger King he headed went from the least profitable to the most profitable in three years. He performed similar magic for Godfather's Pizza, but in a shorter time, turning the company to profitability in a mere 14 months. He served as chairman and later CEO of the National Restaurant Association, and he also became chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, before achieving the true pinnacle of human achievement with a syndicated newspaper column.
Cain's proposal to reform Social Security along the lines that Chile and 36 other nations have adopted is the sanest entitlement policy prescription of the campaign thus far -- and with Mitt Romney playing it safe and Rick Perry having taken so much heat for the Ponzi scheme wording -- it is likely to remain so.
Cain's 999-tax plan is similarly refreshing. Our 11,045-page tax code, barnacled by layer after layer of complexity and special interest loopholes, is a drag on productivity and national sanity. A government watchdog agency estimates that Americans spend 6.1 billion hours annually complying with the code. Something like Cain's plan would cut the Gordian knot.
But as historian and political analyst Richard Brookhiser put it, in another year when the political world was rhapsodizing about some other newcomer (it may even have been Ross Perot), "The presidency is not an entry-level post." It isn't that Cain lacks the stature to be president, it's that he lacks the kind of experience the office requires. Though we perpetually disparage politicians in America (for good reasons much of the time), it cannot be denied that political skills are necessary in a political job. Beyond delivering a good speech, a successful president must know how to build coalitions, apply pressure to friends and foes alike, deal with a hostile press, appoint officials who won't embarrass the administration, handle ego and turf battles among his advisors and cabinet members, and know when to spend and when to husband political capital. And all of that is before he begins to deal with other nations.
Cain is a great American. His sudden rise in the presidential contest should (but won't) give pause to the bigots who have defamed conservatives and the Tea Party. But he is not our knight in shining armor. There may not be one. He'd make a heck of a Treasury Secretary though.

Funds sought to retrieve submerged Boeing Flying Clippers

A Kirkland-based nonprofit wants to recover the Honolulu Clipper, Pan American World Airways' "flying boat" which sank in the South Pacific in 1945.

Deep in the Pacific Ocean lies an estimated 18 tons of history — a "flying boat" credited with being among the first aircraft to bring the people of the world closer by reducing overseas travel time.

The flying boat is one of only 12 Boeing 314 flying clipper made, although there were some Clippers made by other companies. The Clippers flew for little more than a decade before planes with extended flying range and more destinations with runways made the water-landing aircraft obsolete.

Today, a Kirkland-based nonprofit wants to retrieve the two that remain. One is submerged in the North Atlantic and the other in the South Pacific.

Underwater Admiralty Sciences (UAS) hopes to find someone to underwrite the estimated $8 million or more needed to retrieve the Honolulu Clipper, which sank in the Pacific in 1945, 530 miles northeast of Hawaii and at a depth of 18,000 feet.

UAS specializes in recovering submerged cultural artifacts, using new technology that makes such retrievals possible, says the nonprofit's president, Mark Allen.

The first step is to find the exact location of the plane, then use a miniature, remote-controlled submarine fitted with a camera to determine its condition.

"It's like a game of poker," said Bob Bogash, a retired Boeing engineer helping with the project. Bogash, a volunteer at Seattle's Museum of Flight, has been responsible for obtaining most of the museum's restored planes and would like to see a Clipper in the collection.

Allen and the director of UAS, Bob Mester, got the idea of rescuing the Clipper after Capt. Jeff Johnston, an Alaska Airlines pilot and consultant to the group, approached then with the idea.

Johnston loved the plane's Art Deco style.

"You could get up and walk around. It had a salon where people could come and play cards and converse ... the glamour of it all."

The B-314 had 22 square feet per passenger, compared with 6 feet per passenger in coach seats in commercial jets today, according to the UAS team.

Boeing's B-314 flying boats, which were rolled out in 1939, weren't the first in Pan American World Airways' Clipper fleet, but they were considered by many to be the ultimate in Clipper luxury.

The Sikorsky and Martin companies made the first 16 Pan Am Clippers, but they differed from Boeing's planes.

"It was the space shuttle of its time," Allen said. It carried 72 people, had a dining salon, dressing rooms, separate men's and women's bathrooms and sleeping berths.

The Clippers were designed to land behind a breakwater, making it possible to take passengers to destinations that didn't have runways able to accommodate commercial aircraft.

It took 18 hours to fly from San Francisco to Honolulu. Flying to China was also possible, by stopping for refueling and letting passengers spend the night in Hawaii and the Philippines.

Finding investors and strategizing economical ways to find and recover the plane are only part of the project.

The rest is the human story, and UAS has collected first-person accounts of those who flew, or flew on, the Clippers.

Among them is Diane Jorgenson, of Port Angeles, whose father, Capt. Sannis "Robby" Robbins, was the pilot who flew the Honolulu Clipper when it had to ditch in the South Pacific.

Father and daughter

Robbins was an experienced pilot who learned to fly in a Fairchild 71 in the Alaskan bush. Jorgenson would sometimes fly with him then and also when he flew the Clipper.

"I'd climb into the (Clipper's) wings. They weren't hollow. They were filled with all kinds of pipes and wires and were really very interesting," she said.

During World War II, the Clippers were used to transport troops. On what would become its final flight, when the starboard engines quit, the Honolulu Clipper had 13 Navy officers aboard who were being flown back to San Francisco.

First Officer Wally Reed, now 93 and living in Santa Rosa, Calif., was in charge when the first sign of a problem occurred.

"There was a vibration, a noise and the airplane made a little jerk to the right," Reed recalled. "I took the search light and watched the engines. ... I could see them jerk a little bit."

He told a crew member to get Robbins, who was on a break. Flames began shooting from the engines and the plane began losing altitude. Robbins sent a mayday call and they began tossing out mail, baggage and fuel to make the plane lighter.

In the dark and using only the landing lights and an altimeter, Robbins landed the Clipper in a trough between the waves. There were no injuries or damage to the plane, and the passengers were rescued four hours later.

Over a number of days, a troop transport ship and later a seaplane tender tried to tow the Clipper. But in high seas, the Clipper rammed into the tender. A starboard wing tip broke off, and an engine snapped off and tore through the Clipper's bow, Reed recalled.

Since a plane of its size drifting aimlessly on the ocean was considered a hazard to navigation, a decision was made to sink it. After having flown 18,000 hours and countless passengers, and opening new possibilities in the world of aviation, the Clipper submitted to 1,300 20-mm explosive shells and sank.

Now, UAS wants to bring it back.

Herman Cain's speech at CPAC

I heard that Herman Cain gave a good stemwinder of a speech at CPAC.  I was and still am a supporter of Herman Cain, I used to listen to him here in Atlanta when he would fill in for my regular talk show host.  Herman Cain has a certain style but his logic is infallible and he studies all the time to get good at a subject.  I really believe that we need somebody different than the politicians and lawyers that infest the capital.  Somebody that is out of the beltway and isn't corrupted by the culture.  I also believe that Election 2012 is the tipping point, it is the last chance we have to reset this country before we really have major problems like Greece but worse. If Obungler gets reelected, we will be transformed beyond the ability to return the country to what it is should be with out severe violence and the republic changing to something unrecognizable.

OBama is right: Let’s give Democratic constituencies all the "‘fairness’"they can handle

I got this from the Washington Times

President Obama is right. It is time for “fairness.” It is time to ask some Americans to do more, contribute more, sacrifice more. But like most things Mr. Obama does, he has singled out the wrong group. The rich and business owners already pay far too much in taxes. They already sacrifice too much. They already share their wealth too much. The top 1 percent of income earners (almost all of whom are small-business owners) already pay 40 percent of the personal income taxes in America, more than the bottom 95 percent combined.
The top 20 percent of income earners pay almost 100 percent of the income taxes in this country. That means 80 percent of the population pays almost no income taxes and a full 50 percent pay zero income tax.
Mr. Obama said, “Warren Buffett’s secretary shouldn’t pay a higher tax rate than Warren Buffett.” The problem with that statement is that it’s a lie. Let’s get the facts straight. The typical household with more than $1 million in income will pay an average of 29.1 percent in federal taxes this year. The typical household making between $50,000 and $75,000 will pay 15 percent in taxes. Lower-income households (below $50,000) will pay an average of 12.5 percent in federal taxes (most in the form of Social Security taxes). In dollar terms, that means the typical millionaire will pay $290,000 in taxes and the typical middle-class family earning $50,000 will pay $7,500. But most importantly, almost all of that $7,500 is Social Security taxes, which theoretically they will get back after they retire.
Why doesn’t Mr. Obama quote the actual numbers and ask Americans if this sounds fair? One American pays $290,000 in taxes. The other pays $7,500. Mr. Obama calls this “unfair.” As you can see, he’s right. It’s definitely unfair - unfair to the 20 percent of the citizens who pay virtually 100 percent of the cost of government benefits, which are enjoyed for free by the other 80 percent of the population.
Mr. Obama purposely leaves out the fact that the rich and business owners earn their money, many by risking their life savings to start a business. In almost every case, they’ve worked long hours that most people could not tolerate. These small-business owners whose risk and sacrifice create the 9-to-5 jobs for their employees, also pay half the payroll taxes, health insurance and worker compensation costs for their employees. They also pay virtually 100 percent of the taxes in this country to support more than 21 million government employees, one-fifth of whom make more than $100,000 a year for a 9-to-5 job.
If Mr. Obama were honest, he would say, “From now on, everyone who risks their life savings and gives up the security of a five-days-a-week, 9-to-5 job, early retirement and guaranteed pension to start a business must be punished and have their earnings confiscated and redistributed to my voters.”
How would Americans feel about that statement? Sadly, many of the 50 percent who have their hands out but don’t pay taxes would applaud. Remember that famous quote from an Obama supporter: “I just want some of that Obama money.”
It isn’t just small-business owners being discriminated against. Most doctors, lawyers, accountants and other highly paid professionals also sacrifice, many investing countless dollars and hours in their education. After their years of sacrifice and investment, what right does Mr. Obama and his liberal/progressive/socialist cabal have to demonize them for paying only 29 percent in federal taxes so he can buy even more votes from the 50 percent of entitlement takers and nontaxpayers who never sacrificed or invested?
Why won’t Mr. Obama have an open and honest discussion with America about this? The answer is that the progressive left (i.e., socialists) hate facts. The facts tell the true story. The rich already are paying more than their fair share, sacrificing more, risking more, working longer hours and shouldering almost 100 percent of America’s income tax burden. Now is not the time to target, demonize and punish them. Now is the time to reward them. It’s time to stop class warfare and tell the truth.
The cold, hard truth is that the rest of America - the poor, the lower-middle class, the unions and the government employees have to pull more of the load. The reality is that Mr. Obama’s voters get a free ride as a bribe to vote, support and contribute to the president. Yes, we need more “fairness.” The problem is that Obama voters - those doing the most protesting and complaining - are the ones who need a refresher course in the definition of “fair.” They want something for nothing. It’s not just that they want it, they expect and demand it. It’s no surprise when pollsters ask Obama voters whether others should pay higher taxes, they emphatically answer “yes.” Why not? It costs them nothing, and they get 100 percent of the benefits.
So, Mr. Obama is right. Let’s make the tax system fairer. Let’s ask Mr. Obama’s voters to sacrifice, contribute and bear at least a little more of the load.
One last thought: If Warren Buffett and his jet-set billionaire crowd don’t like the 15 percent capital gains rate, instead of lying about the facts and hurting the small-business owners who create almost all the jobs, they can simply reclassify all their capital gains as regular income and pay the full 35 percent tax rate. If they still think that’s too low, the superrich liberals of the world can voluntarily pay 100 percent of their income as a gift to the poor. No one is stopping them. Let’s see them put their money where their mouths are. Unfortunately, that’s not Mr. Buffett’s agenda. His agenda is keeping taxes so high on the rest of us that we can never compete with him. He’s already got his $45 billion.

joke.....

NOMINATED THE BEST JOKE OF THE YEAR
A Russian arrives in New York City as a new immigrant to the United States . He stops the first person he sees walking down the street and says, "Thank you Mr. American for letting me come into this country, giving me housing, food stamps, free medical care, and a free education!" The passerby says, "You are mistaken, I am a Mexican." The man goes on and encounters another passerby. "Thank you for having such a beautiful country here in America ." The person says, "I not American, I Vietnamese."
The new arrival walks farther, and the next person he sees he stops, shakes his hand, and says, "Thank you for wonderful America ! That person puts up his hand and says, "I am from Middle East . I am not American."
He finally sees a nice lady and asks, "Are you an American?" She says, "No, I am from Africa ."
Puzzled, he asks her, "Where are all the Americans?"
The African lady checks her watch and says, "Probably at work."

GOP Debate

I was watching the debate and it was nice to see the moderators being fair, and not playing "gotcha" politics.  All the candidates did well and we actually heard from the others candidates and it wasn't a complete Romney and Perry show,  My candidate Herman Cain did well also, his comment about having stage IV liver and colan cancer and if Obungler care was enacted he would be dead because the timetable of treatment would have been at the whim of a bureaucrat not Cain and his Dr.  Mr Johnsons neighbors  dogs were also popular when he made the comment that his neighbors dogs had more shovel ready projects than Obama.   It was a better debate, we actually saw more of the candidates.

Airplane humor

I am in the aviation industry and I see a lot of airplanes with different livery(What the paint pattern on the airplane is called)  But the low cost carrier "Kulula" based in South Africa has a sense of humor, I got a chuckle reading the assorted logo's on the green airplane.  I also found the livery for another Kulula jet that follows the tongue in cheek humor.

Kulula-air tries not to take itself too seriously

Kulula is a low-fare 737 carrier based in South Africa. The airline started in 2001 and recently took delivery of a new 737-800 with an unusual paint scheme.

Dubbed "Flying 101" it isn't the typical Kulula logo-jet.

Someone there clearly has a sense of humor. The entire airplane is covered with details about the plane, including arrows pointing to the more interesting parts.

"The big cheese" describes the captain's window. An arrow points to the aircraft's registration, calling it the "Secret code."

Even the lav is pointed out, with the description, "Loo (or mile-high initiation chamber)."

The black box, seats, stabilizer and rudder are also pointed out and include a bit of clever commentary as well. I think we can all appreciate a marketing scheme that doesn't take itself too seriously.

More pics:

Kulula also has different safety briefings than the average airline. I have some samples below.

Kulula is an Airline with head office situated in Johannesburg.  Kulula airline attendants make an effort to make the in-flight "safety lecture" and announcements a bit more entertaining.  Here are some real examples that have been heard or  reported:

- On a Kulula flight,  (there is no assigned seating, you just sit  where you want)
passengers were apparently having a hard time choosing, when a flight  attendant announced,
"People, people we're not picking out furniture here, find a seat and get in it!"

                  ---o0o---

On another flight with a very "senior" flight attendant crew, the pilot said, "Ladies and gentlemen,
we've reached cruising altitude and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your  flight attendants."

                  ----o0o---

On landing, the stewardess said, "Please be sure to take all of your belongings.
If you're going to leave anything, please make sure it's something we'd like to have."

                  ----o0o---

"There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways out of this airplane."

                  ---o0o---

"Thank you for flying Kulula. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much
as we enjoyed taking you for a  ride"

                  ---o0o---

As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Durban Airport, a lone voice came
over the loudspeaker: "Whoa, big fella. WHOA!"

                  ---o0o--

After a particularly rough landing during thunderstorms in the Karoo, a flight attendant
on a flight announced, "Please take care when  opening the overhead compartments because, after  a landing like that, sure as hell everything has  shifted."

                  ---o0o---

From a Kulula employee: "Welcome aboard Kulula 271 to Port Elizabeth. To operate
your seat belt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and  pull tight. It works just like every
other seat belt; and, if you don't know how to operate one,  you probably shouldn't be out in public unsupervised."

                  ---o0o---

"In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, masks will descend from the ceiling.
Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child travelling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are traveling with more than one small child,  pick your favorite."

                  ---o0o---

"Weather at our destination is 50 degrees with some broken clouds, but we'll try to
have them fixed before we arrive. Thank you, and remember, nobody loves you, or your money, more than Kulula Airlines."

                  ----o0o---

"Your seats cushions can be used for flotation; and in the event of an emergency
water landing, please paddle to shore  and take them with our compliments."

                  ---o0o---
"As you exit the plane, make sure to gather all of your belongings. Anything left behind
will be distributed evenly among the flight attendants. Please do not leave children or spouses."

                  ---o0o---

And from the pilot during his welcome message: "Kulula Airlines is pleased to announce
that we have some of the best flight attendants in the industry. Unfortunately, none of them are on this  flight!"

                  ---o0o—

Heard on Kulula 255 just after a very hard landing in Cape Town: The flight attendant
came on the intercom and said, "That was quite a bump and I know what y'all are thinking. I'm here to tell you it wasn't the airline's fault, it wasn't the pilot's fault, it wasn't the flightattendant's fault, it was the  asphalt."

                  ---o0o—

Overheard on a Kulula flight into Cape Town, on a particularly windy and bumpy day:
During the final approach, the Captain really had to fight it. After an extremely hard landing, the Flight Attendant  said, "Ladies and Gentlemen,  welcome to The Mother City. Please remain in your seats with your seat belts fastened while the Captain taxis what's left of our airplane to the gate!"

                  ---o0o—

Another flight attendant's comment on a less than perfect landing:
"We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the terminal."

                  ---o0o—

An airline pilot wrote that on this particular flight he had hammered his ship into the
runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the passengers exited, smile, and give them a "Thanks for flying our airline".   He said that, in light of his bad landing, he had a hard time looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment. Finally everyone had gotten off except for a little old lady walking with a cane She said, "Sir, do you mind if I ask you a question?"
"Why, no Ma'am," said the pilot. "What is it?"
The little old lady said, "Did we land, or were we shot down?"

                  ---o0o—

After a real crusher of a landing in Johannesburg, the attendant came on with, "Ladies and Gentlemen, please remain in your seats until Captain Crash and the Crew
have brought the aircraft to a screeching halt against the gate. And, once the tire smoke has cleared and the warning bells are silenced, we will open the door and you can pick your way through the wreckage to the terminal.."

                  ---o0o—

Part of a flight attendant's arrival announcement: "We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge
to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we hope you'll think of Kulula Airways."

                  ---o0o—

Heard on a Kulula flight: "Ladies and gentlemen, if you wish to smoke, the smoking section on this airplane is on the wing.
If you can light 'em, you can smoke 'em."

Explaination of Obunglers policies...

I get an intelligence summary in my e-mail, it usually pertains to international affairs, and despite what we wish sometimes, what happens overseas does affect us at home.  Stratfor wrote a very good piece on the American political system, It mentions things that I already knew and also things that I haven't considered.    You can get free intelligence summaries in your e-mail also.

The Crisis of Europe and European Nationalism
By George Friedman
STRATFOR does not normally involve itself in domestic American politics. Our focus is on international affairs, and American politics, like politics everywhere, is a passionate business. The vilification from all sides that follows any mention we make of American politics is both inevitable and unpleasant. Nevertheless, it’s our job to chronicle the unfolding of the international system, and the fact that the United States is moving deeply into an election cycle will affect American international behavior and therefore the international system.

The United States remains the center of gravity of the international system. The sheer size of its economy (regardless of its growth rate) and the power of its military (regardless of its current problems) make the United States unique. Even more important, no single leader of the world is as significant, for good or bad, as the American president. That makes the American presidency, in its broadest sense, a matter that cannot be ignored in studying the international system.
The American system was designed to be a phased process. By separating the selection of the legislature from the selection of the president, the founders created a system that did not allow for sudden shifts in personnel. Unlike parliamentary systems, in which the legislature and the leadership are intimately linked, the institutional and temporal uncoupling of the system in the United States was intended to control the passing passions by leaving about two-thirds of the U.S. Senate unchanged even in a presidential election year, which always coincides with the election of the House of Representatives. Coupled with senatorial rules, this makes it difficult for the president to govern on domestic affairs. Changes in the ideological tenor of the system are years in coming, and when they come they stay a long time. Mostly, however, the system is in gridlock. Thomas Jefferson said that a government that governs least is the best. The United States has a vast government that rests on a system in which significant change is not impossible but which demands a level of consensus over a period of time that rarely exists.
This is particularly true in domestic politics, where the complexity is compounded by the uncertainty of the legislative branch. Consider that the healthcare legislation passed through major compromise is still in doubt, pending court rulings that thus far have been contradictory. All of this would have delighted the founders if not the constantly trapped presidents, who frequently shrug off their limits in the domestic arena in favor of action in the international realm, where their freedom to maneuver is much greater, as the founders intended

Evil Exists: A Cautionary Tale For Our Times

Something to consider...I read this from here

I've been out of police work for more than a decade now. In many ways, it seems like only yesterday, yet I know better. Any policeman knows that even when absent from the job for a few weeks of vacation, an edge is lost and must be regained. I know there are many things I've forgotten, not big things, but nuances, insights, personal procedures that helped me to be sharp and effective in my specific duties. Other things, if not exactly forgotten, have faded to the back of my consciousness, painful things, particularly painful things that happened to others, things over which I had no control.
As well as teaching, I'm a professional singer. I'm not on the concert circuit, living out of a suitcase, constantly traveling, conducting master's classes, always hustling to promote myself while hoping against hope that the voice stays healthy. Rather I sing with a fine chorale that is the principal chorus of a fine symphony, and I'm also paid to sing with a metropolitan church choir that has a few hired choral guns, so to speak. This allows the church to do a higher level of music and more of it, which would not be possible by relying merely on volunteers. It's far from a huge amount of money, but it's nice to be paid for all of those years of rehearsal and effort and equally nice to work with nice people who appreciate my efforts.
So it was that in our warm-up rehearsal this morning, before the second service, one of the volunteer members of our choir delivered a painful reminder that in an instant took me back more than a decade. She and her husband are good people, personable folks anyone would like to know, and it was distinctly disturbing to hear her emotion-choked voice, a voice tinged with terror, as she related this cautionary tale.
Last week, one unremarkable morning, my friend's young daughter, the mother of a newborn, was home alone. Her husband was gone to work, when suddenly, the doorbell began insistently ringing and did not stop. Realizing something was very wrong and clutching her newborn to her chest, she peered through the peephole in the front door and saw two unfamiliar black men, one ringing the bell but being careful to lower his face, the other facing away from the door.
She called her young husband who told her to immediately call 911, and as she did, telling her story in a state of confusion and fright, she saw the burglars heading around the house, and she knew they were going to break into her home through the back door. Staying on the line with the police, she locked herself in her bathroom and taking her two small dogs with her, barricaded herself, the dogs and her baby, as best she could, in a closet in that bathroom.

The Wages of Multiculturalism in the Democratic West

I got this from PJTV

In 2008, Vietnam war veteran Jesse Nieto — a Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base civilian  employee and father of one of 16 sailors who died in the 2000 Islamist attack on the USS Cole — was ordered to remove from his vehicle decals that a Marine’s Muslim spouse thought were offensive. The decals referred to Islamic terrorist responsibility for the USS Cole tragedy and the celebrations it prompted in the Muslim world.
Although he removed some of the decals, Nieto’s vehicle was subsequently banned from his place of work, as well as all other federal installations, denying him the right to visit his son’s grave at Arlington National Cemetery. The Thomas More Law Center filed a federal lawsuit on Nieto’s behalf challenging the military’s ban on Nieto’s right to freedom of speech. Fortunately, the judge in the case ruled for the father and astutely observed that stating “Islam is Peace” and “Islam is Love” could be equally perceived as offensive and inflammatory for Nieto, as was the anti-Islamic terrorism message to those complaining about his decals. In this case, the decision affirmed that multiculturalism and political correctness do not justify violating the Constitution.

Rational of carrying a backup piece

The backup gun is a second handgun, normally carried concealed, used as a supplement to a primary handgun that may be carried openly or concealed, depending on the circumstances. It has a long history among lawfully armed men and women. Originally a law enforcement practice, the carrying of backup has spread to ordinary American men and women who are licensed to carry loaded handguns concealed in public.
One only has to cruise the “gun boards” on the Internet to notice how many private citizens who carry are either considering the wear of a second weapon routinely, or are already committed to the practice. It has been said that in America, private citizens model their sporting rifle purchases based on what the military is using, and their defensive handgun purchases on what their police are using.
The rise of the bolt-action rifle in popularity among hunters and target shooters followed the adoption of the Krag-Jorgensen in the late 19th century and the Springfield in the early 20th…semiautomatic hunting rifles such as the Remington Model 742 and Winchester Model 100 became popular among a generation of Americans who returned from fighting WWII and the Korean conflict with semiautomatic Garands…and today, the single most popular model represented in new rifle sales seems to be the AR-15, the semiautomatic version of the M-16 that has been our nation’s primary military rifle since the Vietnam conflict..
Similarly, the dominance of the revolver among private citizens followed the adoption by the Texas Rangers of the Walker Colt before the middle of the 19th century. For most of the 20th century, the double-action revolver in 38 Special, followed in popularity by the same type of gun in 357 Magnum, was virtually the standard law enforcement weapon and the most popular home defense/concealed carry firearm among “civilians.”
As the police went to semiautomatics, so did the law-abiding public. At this writing, the high tech auto pistol typified by the Glock is the most common type of police duty handgun, and likewise one of the biggest sellers in the commercial handgun market.
Sometimes it’s easier, and even more efficient, to carry two small handguns of adequate power instead of one large one. Left: 20 ounce Model 640-1 above, 15 ounce Model 442 below, both J-frame 5-shots by Smith & Wesson. Right: 22 ounce all steel Kahr MK9 above, 14 ounce polymer frame MK9 below, both 7-shot 9mms.

This being the case, it is not surprising that the law officers’ taste for a second handgun carried on the person, has been acquired by the armed citizens of the same population.

The Rationale of Backup

There are several good reasons to carry a second handgun for defensive purposes. None are the exclusive province of law enforcement. Let’s examine them in detail.
The primary gun may be taken away. In Kentucky, an armed criminal caught a uniformed policeman off guard and took away his Smith & Wesson 10mm service pistol. The lawman was able to access his concealed Walther PPK 380, a backup gun issued to him by his department, and empty it into his attacker. The criminal died; the officer lived

The primary gun may be unusable because it is the object of a struggle. In Ohio not long ago, a police officer found himself in a desperate battle for survival as his opponent struggled to take away his department issue Glock 22 pistol. Fortunately, the department had had the foresight to issue every officer a Glock 27, a subcompact version of the duty pistol, as backup. In the last instant before the suspect gained control of his service weapon, the officer was able to draw his backup G27 and fire a shot into his would-be murderer’s head, killing the assailant and saving his own life.
The primary gun may be empty. Drawing a second, loaded weapon is often faster than reloading the first when it runs dry. In Michigan, a woman and her husband were working in the store they owned and operated together when they were hit by multiple armed robbers.
The felons shot and wounded the husband early in the encounter. The wife drew a double-action revolver and shot back. Her gun ran dry, and she grabbed a second revolver with which she continued to return fire. That sustained fire allowed her to win the gunfight, saving her life and that of her husband, who survived his wounds. Their attackers were not so lucky.

Precision military marching video's

I used to do stuff like this when I was in military college.  We were good, but these sailers were on a whole other level.  We used to throw around the demilled 03 Springfields and they were bleached to get that pretty color, the flipside was that when one got dropped.....well splitville city.    It has been over 25 years and I still like to see the discipline of those teams.  Fills me with pride for our military

This is the U.S Army Drill team, the "Old Guard"  the same soldiers also guard the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Truth in cartoons

I saw this and laughed my ass off.

I got this from  here

I was in the service and overseas, and we uniformly had a poor opinion of the commercials on AFN, and besides they were a year behind in the networking shows from the world  and all we got was the cheesy commercials about how to be respectful of our host and no drinking and driving., ete, ete.  When I would get tapes from home, the commercials were just as popular as the shows that I got.

Son of Stimulus

Its ALIIIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obungler good for America.......

I got this e-mail from my Dad

Barack Obama is  the best thing that has happened  to America  in the last
100 years. Truly, he is the savior of  America 's future.

Despite the fact  that he has some of the lowest approval ratings  among
recent presidents, history will see Barack  Obama as the source of America
's resurrection.  Barack Obama has plunged the country into levels  of debt
that we could not have previously  imagined; his efforts to nationalize
health care  have been met with fierce resistance nationwide;  TARP bailouts
and stimulus spending have shown  little positive effect on the national
economy;  unemployment is unacceptably high and looks to  remain that way
for most of a decade; legacy  entitlement programs have ballooned to
unsustainable levels, and there is a seething  anger in the populace.

That's why Barack  Obama is such a good thing for America . Here's  why.

Obama is the symbol of a creeping  liberalism that has infected our society
like a  cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is  the face of
fascism, Obama will go down in history  as the face of unchecked liberalism.
The cancer  metastasized to the point where it could no longer  be ignored.

Average Americans who  have quietly gone about their lives, earning a
paycheck, contributing to their favorite  charities, going to high school
football games on  Friday night, spending their weekends at the beach  or on
hunting trips - they've gotten off the  fence. They've woken up. There is a
level of  political activism in this country that we haven't  seen since the
American Revolution, and Barack  Obama has been the catalyst that has
sparked a  restructuring of the American political and social
consciousness.

Think of the crap we've  slowly learned to tolerate over the past 50 years
as liberalism sought to re-structure the America  that was the symbol of
freedom and liberty to all  the people of the world. Immigration laws were
ignored on the basis of compassion. Welfare  policies encouraged
irresponsibility, the  fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations
of dependency. Debt was regarded as a tonic to  lubricate the economy. Our
children left school  having been taught that they are exceptional and
special, while great numbers of them cannot  perform basic functions of
mathematics and  literacy. Legislators decided that people could  not be
trusted to defend their own homes, and  stripped citizens of their rights to
own firearms.  Productive members of society have been penalized  with a
heavy burden of taxes in order to support  legions of do-nothings who loll
around, reveling  in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance  and
"disabilities." Criminals have been arrested  and re-arrested, coddled and
set free to pillage  the citizenry yet again. Lawyers routinely extort
fortunes from doctors, contractors and business  people with dubious torts.

We slowly  learned to tolerate these outrages, shaking our  heads in
disbelief, and we went on with our  lives.

But Barack Obama has ripped the lid  off a seething cauldron of
dissatisfaction and  unrest.

A former Communist is given a  paid government position in the White House
as an  advisor to the president. Auto companies are taken  over by the
government, and the auto workers'  union - whose contracts are completely
insupportable in any economic sense - is rewarded  with a stake in the
company. Government bails out  Wall Street investment bankers and insurance
companies, who pay their executives outrageous  bonuses as thanks for the
public support.  Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given  free
lawyers. And, despite overwhelming public  disapproval, Barack Obama has
pushed forward with  a health care plan that would re-structure  one-sixth
of the American  economy.

Literally millions of  Americans have had enough. They're organizing,
they're studying the Constitution and the  Federalist Papers, they're
reading history and  case law, they're showing up at rallies and  meetings,
and a slew of conservative candidates  are throwing their hats into the
ring. Is there a  revolution brewing? Yes, in the sense that there  is a
keen awareness that our priorities and  sensibilities must be radically
re-structured.  Will it be a violent revolution? No. It will be  done
through the interpretation of the original  document that has guided us for
220 "FANTASTIC"  years--- the Constitution. Just as the pendulum  swung to
embrace political correctness and  liberalism, there will be a backlash, a
complete  repudiation of a hundred years of nonsense. A  hundred years from
now, history will perceive the  year 2010 as the time when America got back
on the  right track. And for that, we can thank Barack  Hussein Obama.
