Monday Music "Desperate But Not Serious" by Adam Ant.

Man the meme is still rolling along.....

I am continuing my string of "bugaloo" songs.  This discussion was started in the "Monster Hunter Nation, Hunters Unite", back in November of 2019? it is a Facebook group with enthusiast of the ILOH "International Lord of Hate" A.K.A Larry Correia.  We were talking about what song would we use if we looked out of our window or glanced at our security camera and saw this.....

One of the alphabet bois lining up to take down your house...What would be your "Valhalla" song and you would set it up to play as you load up magazines set up the Tannerite Rover, turn on the water irrigation system and fill it with gasoline instead of water and prepare yourself.

I figured it would scar the alphabet boys if they come busting in and hearing a song about people standing for their beliefs and willing to fight for them no matter the cost, Good Music  unlike that crap they listen to now.  What can I say, My humor is warped....just a bit. Next week will be "Don't Answer Me" by the Alan Parsons Project  Now that should really cause some psych evals., hehehe, some poor ATF guy trying to explain the attraction to his mother because he is imaging himself as The savior of the American way rather than working for an agency that have the initials of a convenience store.

Adam Ant seemed to be perfect for the new MTV video generation, he was part of the new wave that rode on on the strength of the video's and the quirky costumes that he wore. it is where I forst saw and heard of him for the first time.  I was surprised that he didn't do better than he did, he has talent and was flashy but he kinda drifted away within a couple of years after he hit the airwaves, at least to me.

"Desperate But Not Serious" is a song by Adam Ant, released on 19 November 1982 as the third single from his first solo album, Friend or Foe. It peaked at number 33 on the UK Singles Chart, and number 66 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.  Both the studio version and a live version of "Desperate But Not Serious" appear on the double Adam Ant compilation, Antmusic: The Very Best of Adam Ant.

Following the disbandment of the successful Adam and the Ants earlier in 1982, Adam Ant began a solo career with fellow "Ant" guitarist and songwriter Marco Pirroni.

Like their previous band, which achieved 7 top-10 hits (2 at No. 1) in the UK Singles chart and the best-selling album of 1980 (Kings of the Wild Frontier), Ant's debut single "Goody Two-Shoes" was a smash hit. The single reached No. 1 in the UK and Australia in June 1982 and No. 12 in the US - Ant's first US hit single. The single "Friend or Foe" was released one month prior to the album in September 1982 and charted as high as No. 9 in the UK.

The album Friend or Foe, was released in October 1982 and reached No. 5 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 16 on the US Billboard Album Chart, becoming Adam Ant's most successful solo album, and was certified Gold by the BPI for sales in excess of 100,000 copies. In addition to "Goody Two-Shoes" & "Friend or Foe", the album included another hit single: and "Desperate But Not Serious" (UK No. 33 / US No. 66).

A remastered version of the album was released in 2005, featuring twelve additional tracks.

Ant performed the album live on tour in the UK in late 2019. A United States tour planned for 2020 was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic and is currently scheduled for April 2021

  1. If your still taking suggestions, I would vote for Iron Man by Black Sabbath.
That was our warm up song before wrestling meets in high school.

  2. On Freeform this past weekend was some if not all of the Hunger Games movies in chronological order. The wife and I caught a couple of them. I view them as video instruction manuals to crush oppressors. During the credits of the second to last movie in the series, Hunger Games; Mockingjay Part 1, is the haunting song by Lorde called "Yellow Flicker Beat." I imagine this playing as the tyrants move in, and the volume exploding at the 1:20 mark.
