Freedom group ..part Deux

A few days ago I posted an article about the Freedom group.  I normally fact check my articles, but in this case I didn't.   I apologize for posting an incorrect article.

Here are the facts....
Link here

Q: Does George Soros own the company buying many firms that make guns and ammunition?
A: No. Contrary to a fanciful claim made in a viral email, the Freedom Group is not linked to the liberal billionaire. The National Rifle Association says the real owners are “strong supporters” of gun rights.
FULL QUESTION
Searched your archives and viral stories, couldn’t find. Is there any truth to this?
I googled “Cerberus capital management freedom group buying guns” and found many stories about this. Without lots of research, it looks like it is true!
For the last several years a company called  “The Freedom Group” has been buying up American gun and ammunition manufacturers.
Some of these companies are:

FULL ANSWER
The anonymous author of this chain letter asks why the media haven’t reported that George Soros is connected to a company that is buying a lot of other companies that make guns and ammunition. The answer to that question is simple: because it isn’t true.
Soros doesn’t own Cerberus Capital Management, a private equity firm founded in 1992 by Stephen Feinberg and William Richter. Both Feinberg and Richter currently serve as two of the firm’s senior managing directors. And Feinberg, also the firm’s chief executive officer, is an avid hunter.
Soros, a billionaire philanthropist and known supporter of Democratic causes, isn’t even one of the company’s 26 senior executives. But the firm’s senior executives do include former Republican Vice President Dan Quayle and former Republican Treasury Secretary John Snow.
It’s true, however, that Cerberus Capital Management owns Freedom Group, a leading company in the manufacturing and marketing of guns and ammunition. And it’s also true that in recent years Freedom Group has acquired many of the firearms and ammunition manufacturing companies mentioned in the email, including Bushmaster Firearms (in April 2006), Remington (in May 2007) and Marlin (in January 2008). But that’s about all the author of this latest viral message gets right.
It has even been taken apart online by none other than the National Rifle Association, the largest gun-rights lobbying organization in the United States. The NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action called the rumor “completely false and baseless.”
NRA-ILA, Oct. 14: Recently, an old rumor regarding Cerberus–the private equity firm that owns Freedom group, a holding company that in turn owns a number of firearms manufacturers, including Remington, Marlin, Bushmaster, and DPMS–was in some way tied to George Soros.
This rumor is completely false and baseless.
NRA has had contact with officials from Cerberus and Freedom Group for some time.  The owners and investors involved are strong supporters of the Second Amendment and are avid hunters and shooters.
In reality, at no time has George Soros ever been a part of the ownership group of Freedom Group or Cerberus, and as a privately traded corporation, there is no possibility that he will be in the future.
This unsubstantiated rumor has caused a great deal of unnecessary concern for gun owners. NRA-ILA urges our members to take great care before repeating baseless rumors found on the Internet.
So, there’s no need to pass this one on to “all your freedom loving friends” as the email asks

Again I apologize for posting bad information.......

13 politically incorrect gun rules

Gun lovers. Herewith are thirteen things to remember when carrying your weapon.  BTW- this list is not original.  I’ve Google up the bullet points but alas …I got nada in regards to who penned it. If and when someone schools me on who the author is you can rest assure that I’ll give him or her proper praise.  Enjoy.
1. Guns have only two enemies rust and politicians.
2. It’s always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
3. Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not you.
4. Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arms length.
5. Never say, “I’ve got a gun.” If you need to use deadly force, the first sound they hear should be the safety clicking off.
6. The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes; the response time of a .357 is 1400 feet per second.
7. The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win – cheat if necessary.
8. Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets . . . You may get killed with your own gun, but he’ll have to beat you to death with it, because it’ll be empty.
9. If you’re in a gunfight:
- If you’re not shooting, you should be loading.
-  If you’re not loading, you should be moving.
-  If you’re not moving, you’re dead.
10. In a life and death situation, do something . . . It may be wrong, but do something!
11. If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?
12. You can say ‘stop’ or ‘alto’ or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone’s head is pretty much a universal language.
13. You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself and your family.

50 years ago, America's first flight into space.

I liked John Glenn, he came along when we needed heroes.Climbing into a unreliable booster and strapping on a tincan took faith and a huge helping of guts.  He has been a sterling character since..although I wonder if he sold his vote to go on the shuttle during Clintons impeachment hearing.

The world was such a scary place in 1962 that there were actually Americans who volunteered to leave it.
The Cold War was at its most chilling. The United States had been embarrassed by the first Soviet satellite and the first Soviet cosmonaut. President John F. Kennedy asked his aides if there was something -- anything -- America could do to beat the Russians in space. NASA tried, but the Atlantic floor off Cape Canaveral was littered with the wreckage of failed rockets.
America did not just need better boosters, it needed bigger heroes. It found seven, the original Mercury astronauts. And the one with whom it most fell in love was John Glenn.
Fifty years ago, on Feb. 20, 1962, Glenn squeezed into his Friendship 7 capsule, circled the earth three times in five hours and became a national hero.
"Zero-G and I feel fine," he said from his spacecraft. "Man, that view is tremendous."
Historians' descriptions of the time describe a mood that seems almost alien now: a nation of people fearful of Soviet attack (the Cuban missile crisis would happen eight months later), glued to their black-and-white TV sets, watching a man in a silver spacesuit climb into a tiny capsule and disappear into the sky.
It was likened to single combat. The Soviets were Goliath. Glenn was David.
"We hadn't really thought that any nation could even touch us technically," Glenn said in a 1998 interview with ABC News. "And all at once, here was this bunch of Soviets over there, for heaven's sake, outdoing the United States of America in technical and scientific things."
After the flight of the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in May 1961, Kennedy had committed the United States to landing a man on the moon by the end of the decade. Glenn later said he wondered at the time how NASA would pull it off.
The Atlas rocket that would launch his Mercury capsule was famously unreliable; it had blown up on several test flights. The astronauts had volunteered to leave Earth, but they also planned to return.
Glenn named his spacecraft Friendship 7, honoring his fellow astronauts. He would make three orbits of the earth. His launch was scheduled and scrubbed no fewer than 10 times in four months.
The Flight of Friendship 7
And then it was launch day -- Feb. 20, 1962. Glenn woke early, had breakfast, put on his pressure suit and climbed into Friendship 7 before dawn. The countdown moved toward zero. In the control center, Glenn's backup pilot, Scott Carpenter, keyed a microphone and said, "Godspeed, John Glenn."
Glenn did not hear him; Carpenter was not on his radio link. Instead, he felt a jolt as the rocket left the launch pad. "Roger, liftoff, and the clock is running. We're under way."

John Glenn, the first American to orbit the Earth.
The Atlas did not fail. Five minutes later, he was in orbit.
The nation hung on every moment of his flight, one man, alone in the void, in a capsule so small (6 feet in diameter at the base) that he could not stretch out his arms. He reported that weightlessness was pleasant. He marveled at the "fireflies" -- later determined to be flecks of frost -- that drifted away from Friendship 7 when he rapped on the hull of the spacecraft.

John Glenn's Friendship 7 Spaceflight, 50 Years Later

Glenn was having a wonderful time. But then, trouble. As he began his second orbit, Mission Control received a signal suggesting that the heat shield, designed to prevent the capsule from burning up during reentry, had come loose. Worried controllers feared they might lose Glenn. They ordered him not to jettison the capsule's retro rockets, strapped on over the heat shield, after he fired them to descend from orbit.
The outside of the capsule heated to 3,000 degrees as the atmosphere slowed it. Glenn watched as chunks of debris flew past the window and wondered whether it was the retro pack breaking up, or the heat shield.
It held. He splashed down safely in the Atlantic Ocean. America had probably seen nothing so daring since the transatlantic flight of Charles Lindbergh.
Crowds mobbed him at a ticker-tape parade in New York. Kennedy, who saw Glenn's star power, welcomed him at the White House. He returned to work at NASA and lobbied for another flight, but the Kennedy administration had quietly let his bosses know he was too much of a national icon to risk in space again.
The Americans would gradually overtake the Soviets in space. Neil Armstrong walked on the moon in 1969. But we no longer live in the space age. Glenn has complained publicly that since the space shuttles were retired last year, America has not had a way to launch its own astronauts into orbit. And Glenn's mantle as hero has only taken him so far; a run for president in 1984 left him in debt for years.
John Glenn is 90 now, dividing his time between Washington and Ohio after a long career in the U.S. Senate. He and his wife Annie have been married for 69 years, slowed only by the inevitable maladies of age.
Glenn did, after years of lobbying, get to fly on a space shuttle mission in 1998. He was 77 by then, arguing that the effects of weightlessness -- bone and muscle loss -- are similar to the effects of aging. While he was in orbit he said he was having such a good time that he might like another flight after that, but Annie, visibly angry, put a quick stop to that.
"One thing I promised Annie the day we were married," he once said, "is I would do everything I could to keep life from being boring.

Boeing 787 Dreamliner draws logo acrtoss the American sky

flightaware.com
A Boeing 787 jet took corporate loyalty to new heights when it "drew" the letters "787" followed by the company's logo across several thousand miles of North American skies. The etching of the letters and logo, while not visible from the ground, can be seen in the flight path plans.
"Boeing's 19 hour test flight of the 787 Dreamliner was a great opportunity to test the limits of the 787, FlightAware's flight tracking, and the FAA's flight plan system," FlightAware Chief Executive Officer Daniel Baker tells Yahoo News. "It was the longest domestic flight we've ever handled and it required three FAA flight plans to accomplish, not to mention dozens of people coordinating the flight overnight."
FlightAware, which provides live flight tracking, coordinated with Boeing on delivering the unusual and spectacular images.
In the above image, you can see the 787 Dreamliner's flight path, which was first reported by Gizmodo. The flight path was meticulously designed and coordinated with airports across the country in or to avoid violating restricted airspace.
"This wasn't a joy ride," wrote Boeing's vice president of marketing Randy Tinseth on the company's blog. "It was an 18 hour Maximum ETOPS (Extended Operations) Duration flight test for a 787-8 with GE engines. Our team coordinated with the many air traffic control centers, choosing the routing to avoid restricted airspace. In the end, the flight covered over 9,000 nautical miles." The path stretched between Iowa and Washington State.
Boeing conducted another sky drawing back in August, reports Wired, when the 747-8 Freighter outlined a "747" over several states. The BBC reported on the Dreamliner's maiden commercial voyage last October, traveling from Tokyo to Hong Kong.

It's an exciting time for air travel enthusiasts. Billionaire developer Paul Allen recently unveiled designs for his company's Stratosphere plane, which is designed to take passengers on commercial voyages above Earth's orbit.

Obungler 2012..time to embrace the horror...

I saw this here

I am interested, but I don't know if my integrity can turn off to do something like that....What y'all think?

Obama 2012: Time To Embrace The Horror

Time to embrace the horror.
If someone can point out in comments a sound rationale behind anything other than the following three tactics:
1) Abstention,
2) Protest vote for Ron Paul, or
3) Actively engage with the Obama campaign,
I’d listen.
But understand that the likelihood that anyone other than Obamney will be POTUS come January, 2013 is approximately zero.

And if that prediction is correct, then why not help lead the Baughian monkeys to their collective feeding stations to await the next shipment of solar-powered vegan pellets?
Alternatively, folks who cannot or will not accept the logic of accelerating the collapse of the former USA can view these suggestions as opposition monkeywrenching, if that makes you more likely to participate.
You have heard of running into and through an ambush as a tactic to survive a fight, right?
Consider the following variants (along with those that will be suggested below by fellow readers):
1) As received from a reader who has been there and done that:
A friend got a call from the Obama campaign. They ask if he would vote for the Bamster. Instead of the answer you and I might give, he said ‘you bet’ and went on to praise Obama and asked how he could help Obama get reelected.
They are sending him a package of campaign material worth hundreds: bumper stickers, buttons, street signs. Of course these items are going straight in the trash. Do this times a thousand – maybe a million times – and we make a real difference in the Bamster’s ability to finance his campaign.
Thought you might want to get in too. If you do, pass this idea round to folks you know.
Get the Obama campaign to spend as much as you can.
2) Go full Chiêu Hồi on Barry’s people. Volunteer to make phone calls, work tables, and otherwise serve as a typical local campaign supporter of the President. Have your “I’m been reading Howard Zinn and he’s really made me see some things differently about America” rap practiced and ready to go.
However, just as many chiêu hồi deserters did during the Southeast Asian War Games, you will be gathering actionable intelligence in your area for post-election use as you deem fit. Names, places, donors, local Democratic leaders, whatever you can find – know that each tidbit can be useful as the screw tightens during 2013 and subsequent years.
Know also that simply by reading and passing this information to ten others on your mailing list (and asking them to do the same), you will be disturbing those wet-palmed, zit-faced little DHS turds who read every post at this and every other freedom-oriented site.
You and each of your email recipients actually taking the next step and engaging with Team Obama in “support” of the re-election campaign in your area will further disturb those stooges.
Just imagine if every stop sign in your AO had an “Obama 2012″ bumper sticker just below the “STOP” command.

Resist.

Obama campaigns launch "Truth Teams"

Nothing like betting a bunch of ill-informed kool-aid drinkers out there to debate for the Chicago Messiah.  I have noticed that lefties don't believe in honest debate, they instead will shout, scream and try to over talk and of all else fails, they will invoke the "race card" or use Goodwins law.

I can see in a few years that these same people will become willing snitches for the Obungler regime once it finishes kicking the constitution to the curb.  I am a student of history and I know a bit of East Germany since I spent a lot of time there before the wall fell and was there after the wall dropped.  1 out of 7 people in east Germany snitched for the Stasi.  What was in it for them to turn in their neighbor?

Most did it for material gain either goodies from their political masters or privileges.  Most did not have an altruistic motive, it was basically motivated by banal self interest..  I don't discuss nothing with my neighbors, all I would need is one to call "da man" and I have them come to my house  in the middle of the night and put me in "protective custody" or something like that.   I am a believer in OPSEC.

Obama Campaign Launches 'Truth Teams'

The Obama campaign is today beginning a new effort to enlist and educate at least 2 million supporters for a "grassroots communications team" they're calling the Truth Team.
"The goal is to ensure that when Republicans attack President Obama's record, grassroots supporters can take ownership of the campaign and share the facts with the undecided voters in their lives," the campaign said in a statement.
The teams will be first launched in 13 "swing states," including Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia.
The rollout also includes a social media blitz, directing supporters to three new websites:  KeepingHisWord.com, which highlights Obama's record and "promises kept";  KeepingGOPHonest.com, which highlights GOP policy positions; and  AttackWatch.com, which fact-checks claims made against Obama on the campaign trail.
"If the other guys are going to run a campaign based on misrepresenting the president's record - and their own - we have two options: sit back and let these lies go unchallenged, or fight back with the truth," deputy Obama campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said in an email. "We're fighting back."
So far, the "other guys" mentioned on the three websites are almost exclusively limited to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. There is one mention of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and one mention of the pro-Republican super PAC Americans for Prosperity.
Obama organized a similar grassroots effort in 2008 - Fight the Smears - that involved more than 1 million supporters, campaign aides said.

Ammo & Gear Reviews Black Rifles & Tactical Guns Concealed Carry & Home Defense Gun Laws & Legislation Gun Links Handguns Military Sporting Arms February 14, 2012 Oops: Obama judicial appointee says we have right to keep arms, but not to bear them

The 2012 elections are the most important election since the 1860 elections to decide the direction that our country will head.  If Obungler gets 4 more years, the U.S. Constitution will be a footnote in history.  he already disregards it now and the spineless pussies in congress will not call him on it for fear of losing their privileges and status.   When the republic was first being formed, people pledged their life, honor and personal fortunes and now we have those craven individuals in D.C. that are with out honor or integrity.

Check out TheDC’s new Guns and Gear section for Second Amendment news, gun policy and reviews of the latest guns and gear.
When Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the National Rifle Association (NRA), spoke at CPAC on February 10th, he predicted that if Barack Obama wins a second term it will usher in an all-out attack on the Second Amendment. In so many words, he said the same people who brought us Fast and Furious, “a criminal enterprise” for which there has yet to be prosecutions, will use four more years to gut constitutional protections on the right to keep and bear arms. And anyone who wonders what this assault on the Second Amendment might look like need look no further than Illinois, where a judge that President Obama appointed has just ruled that we have the right to keep arms, but not to bear them.
That’s not a typo. Rather, it’s an unbelievable decision recently delivered by U.S. Judge Sue Myerscough, in a challenge which the Second Amendment Foundation filed against Illinois’s ongoing prohibition against carrying concealed weapons in that state. Said Myerscough, in rendering her decision: “[Although the] plaintiffs argue that the Second Amendment protects a general right to carry guns that include a right to carry operable guns in public … [the] Supreme Court has not recognized a right to bear firearms outside the home.”
This is troubling for many reasons, not the least of which is the fact that Myerscough has completely disregarded the fact that our natural, God-given rights are not subject to court approval for viability. Rather, our Founding Fathers used the Bill of Rights to build a hedge of protection around those rights with which we were endowed by our Creator. And one of those rights was the right to self-defense, and therefore the right not only to keep but also to bear the arms necessary to defend ourselves. On this point, the language of the Second Amendment couldn’t be clearer: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” (Italics mine)
Moreover, in 2010, after the Supreme Court heard arguments for and against Chicago’s handgun ban in McDonald v. Chicago — a case which grew out of Chicago citizen Otis McDonald’s desire to be able to defend his life and property — the court ruled against the handgun ban, citing the fact that “self-defense is a basic right.” The court also pointed out that “self defense is ‘the central component’ of the Second Amendment right.” (Italics in original)
Clearly, there is a chasm of understanding between the Founding Fathers and U.S. Judge Myerscough, for the Founding Fathers recognized that God endowed us with the right not only to keep arms but also to bear them. Likewise, there is a near-inexplicable gulf between the Supreme Court’s McDonald decision and the one Myerscough just handed down. For the Supreme Court understands that the inalienable right to self-defense — “a basic right” — is foundational to the Second Amendment while Myerscough believes arms are to be kept not borne (a decision which necessarily limits our ability to defend ourselves).
If Obama manages to get re-elected, be ready to see more of these Myerscough-like decisions come down the pike. Decisions where judges give lip service to the Second Amendment on the one hand, while stealthily undercutting it on the other. In doing this, Obama judicial appointees will only be following their master’s lead. (For it was Obama himself who, in 2008, told us he supported both the Second Amendment and gun bans like those we’ve seen the Supreme Court strike down in Chicago and Washington. D.C.)

27 nations considering retaliations against the EU for carbon emission trading scheme

EU is provoking a trade war to support junk science.  The only people that make money on carbon trading scheme are politicians that have a vested interest in global warming, or global cooling.   Is it climate change?
or what ever the new word is that Al Gore will get rich off of.

India, China and the U.S. will be among at least 27 nations that will discuss retaliatory steps against the European Union’s Emissions Trading Scheme, which requires airlines using airports in the EU to purchase carbon emissions permits, according to Bloomberg.
Several countries will consider retaliatory steps at a two-day meeting in Moscow, starting Feb. 21, including discussions surrounding new taxes and charges on European airlines and the re-opening of bilateral treaties governing flight rights, the story said.
The Moscow meeting follows a statement adopted in November by the United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organization calling on the EU to exempt overseas airlines from the ETS, which is designed to curb pollution.
Under the law, which took effect Jan. l, airlines are required to monitor and report their emissions on all flights into and out of Europe each year, and purchase carbon permits to cover their emissions.
China has banned its national carriers from participating without its permission.

Syrian Army closer to Israel

And people are concerned that Israel will strike against Iran.  Syria and Iran share links and alliances, makes me wonder if this is part of the plan to pin Israel.

Israel national News:

The Syrian Army moved forces stationed in the Golan Heights and they are now closer to Israel, according to Free Syria Army.

According to reports from the Free Syria Army, the Syrian military has moved forces stationed in the southern part of the Syrian Golan Heights closer to Israel.
The Syrian military did not come close to the border with Israel. However, armored forces that were stationed along the Syria-Jordan border, which were recently reinforced, were moved and are now closer to Israel, according to the report.
The Free Syria Army is the largest opposition group in Syria and is partly made up of defectors from the official Syrian Army.
Israel has been concerned that Syrian strongman Bashar al-Assad, whose regime is on the verge of collapse, may try to defuse the uprising against him by starting a conflict with Israel.
A Lebanese newspaper, The People’s Army, claimed Thursday in its news website that the IDF has been making an extra effort in the past few days to place landmines all along its border with Syria.
Hundreds of Israeli soldiers are reportedly working at lining the border with mines. Israel had already placed mines along some stretches of the border with Syria after the Nakba Day events last year, in which hundreds of Syrians broke into Israel virtually unimpeded. The action had been orchestrated by the Syrian government, later reports showed.

Eric Holder stalls before committee........again

Last Thursday, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder appeared before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to answer questions about his role in the deadly “Fast and Furious” gun-running scandal. However, instead of answers, Congress got more defiance, more arrogance, and more wasted time with an attorney general who clearly feels no sense of obligation to the American people or our rule of law.
But for all the stonewalling, there was at least one telling moment at this hearing, and it should concern law-abiding gun owners and all Americans who expect accountability from our government.
In a rash attempt to deflect attention away from himself and his own irresponsibility, Holder let Congress know that the Obama administration is still working toward the day when it can reinstate former President Bill Clinton’s so-called “assault weapons” ban. According to Holder:
This administration has consistently favored the reinstitution of the assault weapons ban. It is something that we think was useful in the past with regard to the reduction that we’ve seen in crime, and certainly would have a positive impact on our relationship and the crime situation in Mexico.

It’s difficult to follow Holder’s logic here, but it goes something like this …
The Obama administration — particularly Eric Holder’s Justice Department — oversaw an epic scandal whereby our own federal government illegally funneled thousands of firearms into the hands of Mexican drug lords. This contributed to the death of one U.S. Border Patrol agent and hundreds of Mexicans.
Despite being head of the Justice Department and our nation’s chief law enforcement officer, Eric Holder claims he doesn’t know how or why this scandal occurred, or even who under his charge may have authorized it. He also refuses to turn over critical documents to congressional investigators that could help prevent something this tragic and corrupt from ever happening again

Therefore, Obama and Holder are confident that if they can ban a large number of the legal firearms that law-abiding Americans use every day for self-defense, hunting, and recreational and competitive target shooting, it will help solve Mexico’s crime problem.
What’s particularly galling about Holder’s shallow and illogical attempt to use “Fast and Furious” to further the Obama administration’s gun-ban agenda is that during the same hearing, he lectured Congress for playing political “gotcha” games in an election year.
Amazingly, Holder seems incapable of understanding that this isn’t a Republican or Democratic issue, it’s an American issue, and all Americans deserve to know how and why their government purposefully allowed thousands of guns to flow into the hands of murderous Mexican drug cartels. The family of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry deserves to know why two of these guns were found at the scene of Terry’s murder.
Eric Holder’s Justice Department oversaw this illegal operation, but all Holder is willing to do is call for gun bans on law-abiding Americans, withhold critical information from Congress, and pat himself on the back for a job well done. As Holder told Congress on Thursday: “I’m proud of the work that I’ve done as attorney general of the United States, and looked at fairly, I think I’ve done a pretty good job.”
Eric Holder has long since proved himself inept and incapable of holding the trust that Americans place in our nation’s chief law enforcement officer. The longer Holder refuses to step down as attorney general, the more lasting his damage to this sacred institution will be

2nd Amendment stuff and militia's

I saw this on my good friend Shell's facebook wall and I cut and pasted it.    Thanks Shelldude;)

Just in case you encounter some dumbass who says the 2nd Amendment "clearly" applies to the National Guard *only*(and despite that there was no NG when the Bill Of Rights was written).

United States Code TITLE 10 > Subtitle A > PART I > CHAPTER 13 > § 311

MILITIA: COMPOSITION AND CLASSES
(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

.............

So if you're a male citizen between 17 and 45, you're in. Be ready.

Ford Motor Company pulls out of JLTV competition

When I was in the service in the mid 80's to 1991 we had a lot of CUCV "Commercially utilized combat vehicles"  Basically the Chevy Blazer "M 1009" the 1500 "M1008" and the 2500 "M1028"   I had wondered why there were no Ford products because the F150 is a very good truck and the Bronco is also good.  I was told by some of the motorheads and ordinance types that when the requirement for the vehicles were released, the only vehicles that happen to fit the profile were GM products.  The person at the pentagon that wrote the requirements owned a lot of GM stock.   So basically the fix was in.  I believe that Ford Motor company realized that they would expend a lot of capital on a vehicle that will not be purchased in huge numbers and the huge possibility that they would get screwed over again since the government tends to pick favorites and that GM has been getting a lot of government contracts partly due to the fact that the government owns a large chunk of it.     I believe that Ford is gambling on the civilian market doing much better than relying on government contracts.

Ford pulls out of JLTV competition

Ford pulls out of JLTV competition
American auto manufacturing titan Ford Motor Co. chose not to stray from the Explorer or F-150 and pulled out of the competition to build the military’s Humvee replacement Monday.
Pentagon leaders asked Ford officials to consider the possibility of joining the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle competition. Raytheon Co. and Future Force agreed to work with Ford to submit a bid. Once the three companies saw the deadlines set by the new Request for Proposals issued by the Army last month, all three companies decided to sit this one out.
“Ford, Raytheon and Future Force …  have reviewed the Request for Proposal for the JLTV program and decided to pass because we are unable to meet the program’s timing requirements,: said Ford spokesman Mike Levine.
JLTV program officials received a boost of confidence when the Army chose to cancel the Humvee Recap program. Army leaders and Congress chose to go all in with the JLTV rather than spend millions to keep building off the three decade old Humvee chassis.
A defense insider speculated that Raytheon, the most experienced in defense contracts of the three, informed Ford the competition was too far ahead and the investment required to catch up would not be worth it.
Ford’s interest in the contract has defense analysts fascinated at what their manufacturing muscle could bring to the Army tactical wheeled strategy even if it means the car and truck company doesn’t compete to build the JLTV.
Ford has made significant leaps in its hybrid technology, which the Pentagon continues to show interest. If the Defense Department focused more on operations and maintenance costs for new acquisitions, which often make up 70 percent of the life cycle costs, adding hybrid technologies would be cinch for the Army and Marine Corps’ tactical wheeled modernization strategy.
However, the focus remains primarily on the per vehicle price tag meaning an expensive hybrid system doesn’t help JLTV program managers keep the JLTV’s per vehicle cost near the targeted $250,000.

Holland"islam democrat wants to ban dogs"

I got this from one of the German news sites that I frequent for news that our obungler media buries or ignores.

In Holland there is something that will soon be in Germany as well: an Islamic Party. The party, ironicallly, is called “The Islam Democrats,” as though Islam and democracy have anything at all to do with each other, or should have. The newest, overall intelligent recommendation by this party in The Hague city council is the banning of dogs. In our part of the world, the dog is man’s best friend. In the Muslim world, it’s quite the opposite. Dogs are considered najassah (unclean), and the word “dog” is also used as an insult.

Hasan Kücük, member of The Hague city council for the Islam Democrats has therefore demanded that the ownership of dogs as house pets become a crime. This bill, of course, has led to protests among the Dutch people. Many of them see this bill, and rightly so, as a part of the advancing islamization of Europe.
A dog is thankful to you when you provide for him, when you provide a place for him to live, and when you take care of him. We also take care of the Muslims who come here, we also take care of ourselves, provide for them, offer them a place to live, pay their bills, give them money, etc. In contrast to the dog, however, they are not thankful, but are ready at anytime to kick you in the back if you dare insult Islam in any way.
The Muslims don’t come here because they appreciate Europe and our lifestyle, but to take over the continent. Since they don’t have the power to carry this out with military violence, instead they are doing it through immigration, reproduction, political infiltration and thereby using the demand of multiculturalism and politically correct tolerance that so many European politicians are encountering them with.
Hasan Kücük will probably not make it through with his bill today. Today, there is still no Islamic Party in Germany. But tomorrow is another day, and another reality where such issues will without a doubt become reality, if today’s Muslim mass-immigration and political cowardice persist

Quantas ground A380 Scarebus

Paris: European air safety officials extended checks for Airbus A380 wing cracks to the entire superjumbo fleet on Wednesday and said the widespread defects could pose a safety risk if left unremedied.
The move to inspect all 68 A380s in service came as Qantas Airways grounded one of its planes for up to a week following the discovery of 36 separate cracks in wing parts.
The new measures by the European Air Safety Agency (EASA) "reflect the results of a first round of checks, which found cracks in almost all of the planes inspected," spokesman Dominique Fouda said.
Airbus A380 wing checks extended to entire fleet
"This condition, if not detected and corrected, may lead to a reduction of the structural integrity of the aeroplane," the EU agency said in its directive to airlines.
By signaling that the flaws are thought to be structural and widespread, the fleet-wide inspection order will refocus attention on faults recently found in flagship jets from both of the world's dominant aircraft makers.
Boeing and Airbus, a division of European Aeronautic Defence & Space Co, maintain that their newest planes are safe to fly after problems were caught at an early stage.
Under the new directive, first reported by Reuters earlier on Wednesday, the seven airlines currently operating A380s must carry out Airbus-sanctioned checks and preliminary repairs on every plane before its 1,300th flight.
The first round of inspections, which covered one third of the fleet, applied only to jets that had exceeded that number of flights. Aircraft already approaching or beyond the threshold must now be checked and repaired within weeks.
The damaged L-shaped parts, which fix the wing skins to their underlying frame, are "not a primary load-bearing structure," Airbus spokesman Stefan Schaffrath said.
Cracks have been discovered in a "handful" of the 4,000 such brackets on each aircraft, he added. "The safe operation of this aircraft is not at stake."
Inspections had initially focused on 20 aircraft operated by Singapore Airlines, Air France and Dubai's Emirates - which had logged the most A380 flights in the four years since the world's largest passenger plane entered service.
They will now be also be carried out on superjumbos flown by Qantas, China Southern, Korean Air and Lufthansa.
Qantas grounded one of its 12 A380s after the discovery of two-centimeter (0.8 inch) cracks that were "traced back to a manufacturing issue," the Australian carrier said on Wednesday.
It was during lengthy repairs to another Qantas plane that the A380 problems first surfaced, following a 2010 engine explosion that tore open one wing.
Lufthansa's longest-serving A380 has made about 900 flights, company spokesman Michael Lamberty said. "That means we have room to maneuver to carry out checks one by one, as part of normal maintenance."
Aircraft are designed with multiple safeguards to protect against the extreme stresses and temperature variations encountered during flight.
But premature glitches have recently embarrassed both Airbus and Boeing, raising fears of a consumer backlash of the kind that crippled Toyota when the Japanese car maker ordered millions of safety recalls in 2009-11.
While airlines have yet to report any fall in bookings related to the A380 cracks, several have said they are keeping a close watch on ticket sales.
"It's important to note that these cracks are very small and will be monitored by the airlines," said Philippa Oldham, a transport specialist at Britain's Institute of Mechanical Engineers. "They are unlikely to affect aircraft operation."
Boeing this week reported a manufacturing flaw on its 787 Dreamliner, the world's first commercial jet built mostly from composites, nine weeks after entry into service. Engineers found some delamination, or separation of baked composite fibers, in parts of the rear fuselage.
Jim Albaugh, the head of Boeing's commercial aircraft division, has said the problem would delay initial deliveries without undermining the company's full-year target.
Airbus has staked its future on the 12 billion euro ($16 billion) A380 program and is anxious to prevent publicity about the cracks denting confidence in its aircraft. With a list price of $390 million, the 525-seater is popular with passengers but has not sold as well as its designers expected.
"These are not critical parts affecting safety any time soon," said Jean-Pierre Casamayou, editor-in-chief of Air et Cosmos, a French aerospace publication.
The Airbus and Boeing problems are nonetheless "worrying because it means neither manufacturer has been on top of everything," he said. "Both planes were two-to-three years late, and yet we're seeing these unusually early problems."
The wing cracks have overshadowed efforts by France-based Airbus to stabilize Europe's largest industrial project, which is not expected to turn a profit before 2015 after running significantly over budget.
The aircraft maker now faces an additional bill for wing checks and repairs, as well as compensation for customers' lost business.
Airbus and Boeing invested heavily in their newest models, which reflect a divergence of strategy over the $100 billion jetliner market. Boeing bet on lighter planes to save fuel and open new long-haul routes, while Airbus initially put its faith in larger jets to meet steep traffic growth.
Airbus later began developing the carbon-fiber A350 to compete with the hot-selling 787, while Boeing is also updating its 747 jumbo to challenge the A380. Airbus has said it aims to deliver 30 of the double-deckers this year.

Qantas grounds A380 after finding cracks in wings

February 8, 2012

Qantas Airways temporarily grounded one of its Airbus A380 super jumbo jets after finding dozens of hairline cracks in its wings during a maintenance inspection, The Associated Press reported.
Qantas said the 36 small fissures posed no safety threat, and that the cracks were different from the cracks that manufacturer Airbus found in metal brackets inside the wings of two jets last month, prompting an inspection of nearly a third of the world's A380s.
The airline said the cracks were found in the metal brackets that connect the wing's ribs to its skin. The cracks are being repaired, and the airline said it expects the plane to be back in the air within a week.
A Qantas spokesperson confirmed the cracks are the same type the airline recently found in the wing ribs of an A380 that is being repaired in Singapore following the disintegration of an engine in midflight in 2010. That incident prompted airlines to temporarily ground 20 of the planes.

How times have changed....

The kids used to learn gun safety in school...and their parents.  You didn't have a bunch of accidents and kids doing dumb crap with firearms.   Now a days if a kid saw a gun at school, they would want to call a councilor or something because "little jimmy is emotionally scarred and traumatized"   Thanks to 50+ years of liberal leftist indoctrinations in the schools, we have a generation of wimps.

Guns and self defence

I saw this on Boortz and it linked to the cato institute.

Guns and Self Defense

What does this map mean?
Gun control proponents want legislation that will restrict access to firearms. The rationale for such legislation is to reduce accidental shootings and the criminal use of guns against people. But if harm reduction is the goal, policymakers should pause to consider how many crimes--murders, rapes, assaults, robberies--are thwarted by ordinary persons who were fortunate enough to have access to a gun. Gun control proponents cannot deny that people use guns successfully against criminals, but they tend to play down how often such events take place. The purpose of this map is to draw more attention to this aspect of the firearms policy debate.

Two additional points are worth noting. First, the map is not comprehensive. Criminals will often flee the scene when they discover that their intended target has a gun. With no shots fired, no injuries, and no suspect in custody, news organizations may report nothing at all. Thus, it is important to remember that news reports can only provide us with an imperfect picture of defensive gun use in America. Second, when a citizen is able to shoot an attacker or hold a rapist or robber until the police arrive, it is very likely that more than one crime has been prevented because if the culprit had not been stopped, he could have targeted other citizens as well. The bottom line is that gun owners stop a lot of criminal mayhem every year.

Did School promote communism over capitalism?

This is an example of what is going on in our public schools, the new generation is being indoctrinated by democrats and their pet causes.  I see examples of it in my sons school and I have raised hell and called them on it.  Most of the stuff comes from the state and federal level.  The schools  fall under NCLB(no child left behind)  The budget of the school is tied up with it.  The administrator/principal insist on teaching exactly per the test so they don't lose funding.  When I proctored last year, in the social studies and science classes in the 4th grades, 1/3 of the questions were geared to promote a visceral response to the question...stuff like how much pollution can be released by the factory or how much oil is spilled how long will it take to clean up with the associated affect on the wildlife, and so on and so on.  This is pure propaganda, it is indoctrination of the future generation.  Now we wonder how the OWS crowd is the way they are and how many young people bought into the Chicagomessiah hope and change.  We are losing the culture wars, the left continually bombards the new generations with the socialist/leftist garbage and it takes experience and life experience to realize that the democrats are full of crap, unless they totally drink the kool-aid and go into academia and become part of the new generation of leftist and agitators.    Jeez...

Did School Promote Communism over Capitalism?
Feb 3, 2012
By Todd Starnes
Jeff Travis owns a small business in Des Moines and he is absolutely furious at a classroom flier that his son received from his high school social studies teacher.
The flier, given to students at Roosevelt High School, features a cartoon and slogans that seem to promote communism over capitalism.
FOLLOW TODD’S CULTURE WAR FACEBOOK PAGE!
“Communism stands for equal sharing of the work according to the benefits and the ability, but in capitalism an individual is responsible for his works and if he wants to raise the ladder,” the flier stated. “While the profit of any enterprise is equally shared by all in Communism, the profit in the capitalist structure belongs to the owner only.”
The cartoon represented capitalism by featuring an overweight businessman smoking a cigar while his workers were shackled. On the communism side, the cartoon showed happy workers earning loads of cash.
“I’m a businessman,” Travis told Fox News. “I took great offense. I don’t smoke big stogies. I don’t have a big gut. My employees are not shackled. If this was a fair representation, where is the fence around the workers on the communist side? Where is the guy holding a gun to their heads saying either comply or die? Where are the bodies that Stalin and Mao put in the graves.”
Travis said he spoke to the principal of the school and asked for an explanation. It’s been nearly a week and so far – he hasn’t received one.
“I couldn’t believe how slanted it was,” he said. “It wasn’t given as an example of propaganda. It was given as an example of capitalism and communism. I can’t believe they would hand out something like that.”
Travis showed the flier to a customer who happens to work at WHO Radio – a Fox News Radio affiliate. That customer gave the flier to Simon Conway, who hosts a local talk show.
“The flier seems to promote communism over capitalism,” Conway said. “We’re all horrified. We don’t want this stuff taught in our schools.”
A spokesperson for the school system confirmed the flier had been distributed in a classroom. However, additional questions were referred to another staff member – and so far – calls to that individual have not been returned.
However, school officials did post a statement on their website Friday afternoon, accusing WHO of misrepresenting the flier.
“It is unfortunate that a talk show host decided to mislead his listeners in order to generate false criticism of our schools and our teachers,” the statement read.
School officials also provided a link to what they said were additional documents given to students. However, the link was not activated – and a school official told Fox News that the web materials were not yet available.
As for the flier that students in the social studies class received, the school said:
“Furthermore, the class, 20th Century History, was studying the Cold War and propaganda, looking at some of the arguments both sides made about why their system was best on a range of topics, including their economies,” the statement read. “The handout simply highlights the differences between capitalism and communism, and some of the arguments made during the period of the Cold War.”
Conway said local residents are outraged.
“We ended up doing a full hour on this topic,” he said.
Travis said he never wanted to cause the school or the principal grief or frustration. He said he just wanted his questions answered.
“I’m concerned about the slant I keep seeing in the school and I’m tired of it,” he said.
Last year, Travis said an Occupy Wall Street protester was invited to speak to 12 and 13-year old children at his son’s middle school. When Travis found out, he asked to sit in the classroom.
“I was amazed they would allow someone like that to come in and talk to the students,” he said. “He came in and said how evil the military is and how he used to respect the police and how he doesn’t respect the police anymore.”
Travis said it no one was there to refute the Occupier’s allegations.
“I told the principal I thought it was pretty egregious that they would bring someone like that in but the principal didn’t think there was anything wrong with it,” he sai
