You have got to be kidding me......

I got this from the hill

I couldn't believe this but when I saw the esteemed congresscritter from GA  Mr Hank "Guam will sink" Johnson on the list and this made sense......

House Dems introduce bill to eliminate debt ceiling

By Justin Sink - 09/13/11 02:17 PM ET
Three congressional Democrats are introducing a bill Wednesday that would abolish the federal debt ceiling. The lawmakers say that the recent debate to raise the ceiling and avoid default had a "disastrous" effect on the U.S economy, and that the legislation would keep parties from using a potential default as a hostage in future budget debates.

"The debt ceiling is truly arbitrary and has nothing to do with the deficit," Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said in a statement last Wednesday. "The debt ceiling does not prevent the United States from incurring new debts. That occurs when Congress decides to authorize more spending than revenues. The debt ceiling prevents the president from borrowing money to pay those debts when they come due."

Virginia Democrat Jim Moran and Georgia Democrat Hank Johnson will join Nadler in introducing the legislation. But the bill is unlikely to gain traction, especially in the Republican-controlled House. Members of the GOP were encouraged that they were able to use the debt ceiling as leverage to attain deep budget cuts during negotiations with President Obama and the Senate.

"Nobody wants to see defaults happening — but we also think it's important to get a handle on future borrowing as we deal with raising the debt limit," House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said in April.

But Nadler says the Republican position is "radical" and Jim Moran said that the GOP was using the debt ceiling as a "political weapon."“Republicans in Congress have shown they are willing to hold the fate of our economy hostage by using the debt ceiling as a political weapon. It’s a tactic that has far ranging effects, disrupting financial markets, damaging the peoples’ trust in government and delaying consideration of must-pass legislation to create jobs and get our economy back on track," Moran said.

Rants...

I have a couple of things that I wish to comment about.  The porkulus II A.K.A Obunglers new jobs bill He talks about payroll tax cuts for 1 year...to a business that ain't crap.  It will expire around the time of the elections...
You notice that the people behind him on the podium were teachers, police and firemen.  All gov't employee members.  Oh wait his jobs bill has money to give to the states to help them keep their payroll....or basically keep the union employees working and the contributions to the democrats coming  while adding billions to our debt that our kids will have to pay off.
How about that infrastructure repair....Obungler had signed an executive order last year that stated that all infrastructure paid by the feds have to use union labor.  Another payoff to his base.
Our kids and grandkids will have to deal with this.
I saw a newspaper article about the poor increasing the most since 1983.
When talking about “poverty” in America, I put the word in quotes because the average “poor” American is struggling to pay their cable bill, not put food on the table.  In other words, our definition of poverty in America is an absurdity.  Our method of defining “living in poverty” came from the Social Security Administration on instructions from Lyndon Johnson.  Johnson needed statistics that would help him push his “Great (welfare) Society.”  Funny though, of you ever looked at poverty statistics in America, you will notice that “poverty” declined every single year, since they started tracking in the 1950s.  That was every single year … until Lyndon Johnson implemented his “Great Society!”  Now the rate has always bounced between 12 and 15%.
Notice that none of these stories about the 2010 poverty statistics actually describe what it means to be “living in poverty” in America.  That’s because this picture does not fit into their convenient storyline.  Our government’s definition of poverty is absurd -- hence the quotation marks.  Here’s a look at what it’s like to live in “poverty” in the United States:
  • The typical “poor” household in America has a car
  • 78% of “poor” households in America have air conditioning
  • 64% of “poor” households in America have cable or satellite TV .. most have two TVs, along with a DVD player and  VCR
  • Most “poor” households in America with children have a gaming system such as an Xbox or PlayStation
  • 38% of “poor” households in America have a personal computer
  • Most “poor” households in America have a refrigerator, an oven and stove, and a microwave. They also have other household appliances such as a clothes washer, clothes dryer, ceiling fans, a cordless phone, and a coffee maker.
  • The typical “poor” American has more living space than the average European.
  • The typical “poor” American family is able to obtain medical care when needed.
  • The average “poor” household in America claims to have sufficient funds to meet all essential needs.
Now do you understand why news reporters aren’t rushing to find the nearest “poor” person?  I just feel truly sorry for those people in America who are actually, legitimately poor.  We can’t focus on them because we are too busy worrying about these households filled with cars, TVs, video games and refrigerators.
As of 2010, the poverty line was drawn at $22,314 (pre-tax) for a family of four.  But there is one key element that we are forgetting – by and large these people are also part of the Moocher Class.  This $22,314 in pre-tax income does not include any benefits or government handouts.  Remember … in America you can do as well working one week a month at minimum wage as you can working $60,000-a-year, full-time, high-stress job.  That’s right, " ."A 1 parent family of 3 making minimum wage of $ 14,000 dollars a year has more disposible income than a person making $60,000 a year"  Means-test welfare assistance is on track to top $10 trillion in this decade alone!  Sure sucks to be “poor” in America, doesn’t it?

Ford Commercials

 I love this commercial.  H/T to C/Y

As those that have read my profile know that I used to work for Ford Motor Company and I still have loyalty to that company.  Ford due to market conditions had to close my Taurus plant down.  Most places would have given you 2 weeks severance pay then unemployment.  Some places would have padlocked the door and we would have had to get a lawyer to get our pay.  Ford gave us a generous severance package,  We knew 7 months in advance that the plant was going to close, we had time to prepare.  We could transfer to Kentucky or take the buyout.  We also got 6 months medical insurance after we left.  We are still vested employees, I still have a retirement with them.   Ford morgaged themselves to the hilt to do their restructuring and make changes to save themselves.  GM and Crysler did nothing until they asked for bailout money and Obungler uses his power to circumvent the rule of law and screw over the stockholders and give large chunks of their companies to the unions to pay off their help in getting him and the democraps elected.    I have owned nothing but Fords with the exception of my first car which was a 1976 AMC Gremlin  An interesting car and I wish I had kept it.  But I was 18 and what did I know back then.  I will still only buy Fords.  Toyota, Honda ete are good cars but my preference is Ford.

Why Republicans keep losing the propaganda war

I saw this onPJTV

It never ceases to confound me, dear readers, how on earth Republicans keep losing America’s propaganda war.
How do we know they’re losing in the public’s perception?  Easy.
Ask yourself: when was the last time you freely discussed any conservative or even moderate political view with friends at work, or on campus, or in public, or at a large social gathering — without hedging your every word? When? Can you identify a single recent instance when you felt your conservative or even moderate views would be tolerated without provoking name-calling or public shaming into the nearest corner of societal oblivion?
Everywhere one goes, save conservative websites, Republicans are widely connoted with tinges of racism, hate, selfishness, greed, war-mongering, and conspiratorial theocratic designs against democracy. Fox News has some opinion shows that try to give an ounce of conservative balance to the airwaves and they’ve paid for it with an all out war declared against them by leftist activists.
And, honey, any way one chooses to slice, dice, puree, or grind to bits this reality, it spells one thing for the Democrats:  VICTORY.
Democrats are nearly ubiquitously perceived – key word, “perceived” — as anti-racist, loving, un-selfish, generous, peace-making and unfailingly tolerant of all religions and all cultures. When conservatives outnumber liberals 2 to 1 among the electorate, and yet liberal views have achieved such dominance that they are perceived as dominant even in private settings, then Republicans are not only losing the propaganda war, they are all but missing in action.
How to fix this?  First, fully identify the problem.
Towards that goal, here is my top-5 list of why Republicans keep losing the propaganda war.
5.  Modern media favors perception over reality, charisma over intelligence, and personality over character.  Republicans remain the party dominated by reality, intelligent reason, and high character; they lose.
While many conservatives tend to focus entirely on leftist media bias as the primary reason Republicans lose so many public-perception contests, this is actually only a fraction of the far more serious problem.

The cult of Obama

I saw this and figured it was worth sharing, to read the rest go here

We're playing those mind games together
Pushing the barriers,
Planting seeds
Playing the mind guerrilla
Chanting the mantra, peace on earth
 - John Lennon
It's a chilling moment when the light goes out in someone's eyes.  A once-radiant child hardens from abuse.  A woman's heart shrinks after her husband's abandonment.
The person looks the same, maybe acts the same.  But something is gone, and what's lost is irretrievable.  It's like when a person dies: in a heartbeat, the soul vanishes.
I see this phenomenon every day: a light dimming.  The friendly shopkeeper snaps at me.  My cheerful neighbor seems flattened.
And you hear it in the news: people acting strangely, going off the deep end.  The most bizarre behavior becoming the new normal.
A thug bites off a finger.  Sarah Palin's church is torched.  Black Panthers intimidate voters.
An esteemed Columbia University black architecture professor punches a white female coworker in the eye for not doing more about white privilege.  He has no history of violence.  Why now?

The GOP debate

I was watching the debate and what was the GOP thinking of when they agreed to let the MSNBC host the debate.  I thought the debate was pretty good but most of it focused on Romney and Perry.  What got me was the after debate analysis with that leftist hack Rachael Maddows show.  She had a bunch of leftist on the panel, they were anything but balanced.  When they have the Al Sharpton as a panel member talking about the GOP debate, they showed their bias.  The only republican I saw interviewed was a guy named Schmedt an established republican and I can tell he didn't like the tea party.  He was playing the status quo angle and that isn't what we need anymore.  We have been getting along with the democraps for years and the 14 trillion dollar debt is where it has led us.    Lets play nice and we get screwed.  I am tired of being nice to these people, we are expected to be nice to them and they have people like Hoffa making incendiary comments and the attitude is that if we complain, we are wrong.  The left can demagogue an issue and it is OK, but if we defend ourselves, we are bigots, hate poor people, don't support global warning,  racist, ete, ete.   I am to the point now I am past being nice.  Being nice has gotten us nowhere but screwed and maligned.

9-11 rememberance

While surfing youtube looking for more video's for my monday music that I like to post on... monday
I ran across this video from NATGEO.   I still an affected by 9-11, there has been an innocence lost for a new generation.

The "Taps" played at the end gave me goosebumps.
I shamelessly cribbed this from here, a good site and worth a bookmark

He said exactly what I wanted to say with the exception of his personal carry holster;)

WHEN SECONDS COUNT, POLICE ARE MINUTES AWAY
WHEN SECONDS COUNT, POLICE ARE MINUTES AWAY
Think you can take the family to the local IHOP for a nice breakfast in peace? Guess again! Today’s murderer had other plans. Unfortunately, none of the victims seems to have had any power to thwart those evil plans. Oh, I’m sure people were screaming in horror and hiding under tables while the gunman mowed them down but how would the situation have changed if ten of the diners had been armed? Would the gunman have been able to kill two and injure nine if hollow points were flying back in his direction?
America has been dangerous for a long time. Yes, the odds are this type of terrible scene will never happen to you. But lately, the odds appear to be growing. Americans of all sorts are angry. Yesterday, we heard chief union thug Jimmy Hoffa exhorting fellow union thugs to “take the sons of bitches (in the tea party) out.” How long will it be until one of his lesser sane union thugs acts on this and actually takes out a tea party member? Every week, we see young “urban” beasts running in flash mobs attacking innocent people because they happen to be white and in the wrong place? How popular would these violent flash mobs be with these urban yoots if a victim emptied a magazine into the pack attacking them?
Violent people prey upon the weak and unprepared. Stupid liberals try to remedy the situation with more insane gun laws that prohibit honest people from protecting themselves. Only conservatives seem to be capable of understanding the simple fact that criminals don’t keep gun laws because they are CRIMINALS! Liberals are stupid that way. Other ways, too.
The only way Americans have a chance of protecting themselves is for every willing, capable law-abiding adult to carry a weapon. Otherwise, they can only hope for mercy. And when did a criminal ever show mercy? Are you willing to risk the lives of your family on the mercy or incompetence of an armed criminal? Me neither!
AWD never leaves the house without his Glock 23 which is chambered for .40 S&W. Why? Because there might be one time in my life where I have to use lethal force to protect myself, my family or another innocent person. I refuse to be a victim! Is it inconvenient sometimes to carry? Yes, it is. But the reward of knowing I am safe or at least have the chance to protect myself and others from a madman far outweighs the inconvenience.
I have encouraged everyone for years to acquire your concealed carry license if one is required in your state. Get a gun you can shoot and practice. Most gun battles take place within 7 feet. You don’t have to be a Navy Seal marksman. But you do have to have a gun!
Since we haven’t done this in a while, let’s discuss favorite guns for carry and favorite methods of carry. AWD uses an inside-the-belt holster that conceals my Glock very nicely. When I’m at the pool, I have the smaller Speedo holster. That was a joke. So share your knowledge and experience with those who are new to guns.
Don’t be a victim! Prepare yourself. I’m afraid we have many violent days coming real soon in this country
