3 rules for not being in Poverty.

  I used to listen to a radio talk show host named Neil Boortz, until he retired a couple of years ago.  he used to talk many times on his show about the "3 rules for avoiding poverty".  He equated poverty with a mental illness, for barring a mental issue or physical disability you can avoid poverty by following 3 rules.

    Rule number 1. Get an education, any education...make an attempt to better yourself.  Learn all you can while you can, you will be surprised how far it will take you.  When you get an education, even at work, you are making an attempt to improve yourself and things like that are noticed by the bosses and it might open up opportunities.  Learning takes work and you would be surprised how many people are too lazy to continue learning, then they wonder why they no longer earn more and move up.  If you quit learning, you will stagnate and then move backwards because there are people coming up that are hungry and you will find yourself obsolete and unemployed and wondering what happened.

Rule Number 2.  Get a job, any job..work it until you find a better job.  While you are working your job, always look for opportunities to better yourself at work, learn how the process works, make the extra step to learn all facets of the job, become indispensable to your employer.  Or if you really don't like the job, work it hard, learn about it and look for a better job.  You keep working for the better job.  While you are at it, keep on learning so you don't become expendable and replaceable.  Form good work habits, always come to work a bit early.  it doesn't hurt to get ahead of the power curve for your job.  It also shows that you are enthusiastic about your work and that is noticeable. 

 

Rule Number 3  Don't get pregnant.  This rule applies to both girls and guys.  For girls, getting pregnant early unless they are lucky and have a great family structure in place, will be trapped in a cycle of poverty.  Sure they get benefits from the government, but the money they get is just enough to keep them trapped in a continuous cycle.  "Why work when I get money from Uncle Sugar." they sell their dreams and soul for an EBT card.  Once the baby arrives, it will be difficult to continue getting an education to improve themselves and they will be trapped where they are or even slide into a worse situation than they have now.  I remembered this girl in high school, she wanted to get into NASA, and become an astronaut.  She was brilliant and we could see her making it.  But she got pregnant and had to drop out in the 11th grade.  A few years later I was working at Domino's Pizza after graduating high school and a year of college then ran out of money.  I was delivering pizza as I was making ready to join the Army for the G.I. bill so I can go back to school.  Well I was delivering a pizza to a dilapidated trailer and this same girl came to the door.  I immediately recognized her and asked her how it was going.  She told me that she had her baby and was pregnant again.  I then asked her " where is your husband?"  She commented that he was probably at the bar getting drunk.  I continued to make small talk for a few minuted then I left.  I had an epiphany as I was leaving.  Where she is now is the highpoint of her existence.  It is a slide to grinding poverty from here and I was a bit bummed.   This rules also works with guys, if you get a girl pregnant, you also are responsible and you will have a 18 year commitment and if you and the girl break up, expect to have child support and possible garnishments to deal with.  Rather than going to school to get a higher education, you have to enter the work force at a lower paying job to make ends meet and your dreams are on hold perhaps indefinitely.

     If you follow these rules and apply a modicum of common sense, you should be able to avoid the lower  parts of the economic ladder. 

    

Moscow Rules....... 2014

I saw where somebody had posted in another blog that we as a conservative group should "relearn" the Moscow Rules especially with the alphabet government agencies at the behest of the democrats are really concentrating on those people with a belief that is diametrically opposed to the democrats stated goals and vision of this great utopia that is over the hill.  Well I had published these rules over a year ago, and so I "dusted" them off and put them out there again.

Survival tips from the walking dead...

I watch the show "Walking Dead" on AMC.  I am not a big zombie fan but the show is filmed where I live so it is neat seeing stuff that you recognize but set up in a post apocalyptic scenario.  I saw the link from survival Life and thought it was interesting.

I’m sure most of you enjoy watching TV as a way of relaxing and taking your mind of the days concerns. I for one enjoy watching shows that not only entertain but that you can actually learn something useful from and not just some soap opera, Hollywood gossip, or reality TV show.
The Walking Dead, the break out TV show on the AMC channel that just wrapped up its 3^rd season. In case you are living under a rock the show depicts the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse.
Now we can probably all agree that this is based entirely on fantasy but if you look closer this is an excellent study on what would happen if there were a major breakdown in society for any reason.  And while, odds are, there will not be a threat of  a viral induced plague of  flesh munching zombies wandering through your neighborhood, this show has actually given me some great survival tips that will work in any crisis.
I’ve thought it over and broken it down into 7 critical tips.

7 Survival Tips that I learned from The Walking Dead:
#7 – Be part of a group –While more people may mean that you need more supplies and resources it also means you got the collective skills of the group to increase you chances at survival.  In the Walking Dead it didn’t hurt that there were a couple of law enforcement guys in the group to help with weapon training and fighting.
#6 – Find place to stay – Shelter is a must in any survival situation.  Early in the series the group were living in tents and an RV.  However later on a farmhouse and prison provided a much-needed respite from not only zombies but the elements as well.
#5 – Have a source of food and water – At the beginning of the series our group of heroes were located in a park that had a reservoir nearby to provide them with all the water they could possibly need.  Later a form would be an excellent source of food.  There was a well on the farm also but in case you haven’t seen the series let’s just say the zombie apocalypse has its on set of unique problems that need to be taken care of…YUCK!
#4 – Tools/Weapons – This is another easy one… You need to be able to not only protect yourself and loved ones but have the tools to build whatever is needed to get by is a must.
#3 – Be aware of your surroundings – There is much to be said about straight up just paying attention to what is going around you.  After the first few surprise zombie attacks they learn that being constantly vigilant can mean the difference between life and ending up zombie cow.
#2 – Be resourceful with what you have. – The heroes on the show become experts at scavenging. Making the most of anything that they come across that could help them survive.
#1 – Keep your head straight.  – This is actually a big one.  Survival experts all agree that if you can’t keep your head straight when the SHTF could cost you and your group their lives.  In the series the leader of the group becomes delusional and really puts the entire group in danger.  There are also several other times throughout the series where the mental health of various members of the group that end badly.
While TV shows are designed mainly to entertain keep in mind that it doesn’t mean you can’t learn a thing or two for them.  While the chances of a zombie apocalypse are not likely there is always the possibility that there will be some sort of disaster whether large or small in which you can apply your survival skills to.  Where and how you learn them is not as important as the fact that you learn them

"Gibbs Rules"

I am up here in Tennessee in Sevierville TN, Home to Dollywood and other touristy stuff.  I am up here visiting family and I visited my favorite store .Smoky Mountain Knife Works, you can find many types of knives,  cutlery,  many politically incorrect shirts, 5.11 tactical items.  They also have a national knife museum there.   They have knives from SOF,Gerber, Smith&Wessen, case,  Swords, hatchets and many others.   I was coming in to pick up another knife for work and scouting.  I believe in a good knife, they are like firearms, you get what you pay for.  A good knife is necessary, I use my S&W HRT for everything from cutting wires, opening boxes and packages, cutting various materials and a myriad of other uses.

   The knife on bottom is my "working" knife, the one on top is the "new" one.  The new one is a S&W "First Responder"  It is similar to my other blade.  I also picked up some politically incorrect decals for my toolbox at work.  Walking around and reading the stuff on various toolboxes can be quite entertaining especially if you ain't politically correct.

     Speaking of knives, I remembered one of the quotes from a show that I really like.  the show is called "NCIS" it is on CBS and you usually see it on USA when they have a marathon viewing sessions.  I like the show partly because they show the services as honorable with a code of conduct and behavior.    The knife thing came from one of the rules that the main character "Gibbs" uses and lives by.   Check out rule #9.

Gibbs' Rules are an extensive series of guidelines that Leroy Jethro Gibbslives by and teaches to the people he works closely with.

Origins

Gibbs's rules originated from his first wife, Shannon Gibbs, who told him at their first meeting, "Everyone needs a code they can live by." Years later, after their wedding, Gibbs began writing his rules down, keeping them in a small tin inside his home.Though he uses it often we almost never see the tin.

The knowledge of the rules' origins is left as a mystery to the people that Gibbs works with, though some of them do make concentrated efforts to find out.Tony makes several attempts to find out who taught Gibbs the rules, though he has not yet met with any success. On one occasion, he quoted Rule Nine as a rule that "they teach you in the Marine Corps," but the Marine in question was unaware of what he was referring to. On another occasion, Tony asked Jackson Gibbs if he had taught the rules to his son, but the older man denied any involvement.

On the other hand, when Rule Twenty-Three was once referred to during a case, a nearby MP quoted the rule correctly.

Rules

At the beginning of her tenure with NCIS, Gibbs informed Ziva David that there were approximately fifty rules that were his job to teach her. Some years later, Gibbs added the fifty-first rule to the tin he kept the rules in.  According to Tony, seven of the rules directly concern lawyers, and that the eighth rule was inspired by a lawyer.  Rule forty and above are not rules necessary for everyday life, they are for emergencies.  Note: Look below at Duplication for info about rules # 1-3

The rules

Rule #1: Never let suspects stay together.This is the first rule of investigation not a real Gibbs rule.

Rule #1: Never screw over your partner. Note: This is quoted by McGee to be Gibbs' Number One,but the other Rule One is quoted in other episodes to be his. Earlier, McGee had told Agent Borne that rule number one has been taken twice, showing that he knows that there are two number one rules.

Rule #2: Always wear gloves at a crime scene.

Rule #3: Don't believe what you're told. Double check.

Rule #3: Never be unreachable. (*Most likely one of Mike Franks' "Golden Rules" (see below) as opposed to Gibbs, because Gibbs has been known to intentionally be unreachable.*) This was a rule quoted by Tony regarding Ziva or Tim^[

Rule #4: The best way to keep a secret? Keep it to yourself. Second best? Tell one other person - if you must. There is no third best.

Rule #5: You don't waste good. 

Rule #6: Never say you're sorry. It's a sign of weakness. Note: This is continuously told to Tony, Ziva and Tim through a smack to the back of their heads.

Rule #7: Always be specific when you lie.

Rule #8: Never take anything for granted. Note: This is re-quoted as "Never assume." by McGee to Gibbs six years later.

Rule #9: Never go anywhere without a knife.

Sometimes listed as "Never leave home without a knife."
