I used to listen to a radio talk show host named Neil Boortz, until he
retired a few years ago. he used to talk many times on his show
about the "3 rules for avoiding poverty". He equated poverty with a
mental illness, for barring a mental issue or physical disability you
can avoid poverty by following 3 rules.
Rule number 1. Get an education, any education...make an
attempt to better yourself. Learn all you can while you can, you will
be surprised how far it will take you. When you get an education, even
at work, you are making an attempt to improve yourself and things like
that are noticed by the bosses and it might open up opportunities.
Learning takes work and you would be surprised how many people are too
lazy to continue learning, then they wonder why they no longer earn more
and move up. If you quit learning, you will stagnate and then move
backwards because there are people coming up that are hungry and you
will find yourself obsolete and unemployed and wondering what happened.
Rule Number 2. Get a job, any job..work it until you find a
better job. While you are working your job, always look for
opportunities to better yourself at work, learn how the process works,
make the extra step to learn all facets of the job, become indispensable
to your employer. Or if you really don't like the job, work it hard,
learn about it and look for a better job. You keep working for the
better job. While you are at it, keep on learning so you don't become
expendable and replaceable. Form good work habits, always come to work a
bit early. it doesn't hurt to get ahead of the power curve for your
job. It also shows that you are enthusiastic about your work and that
is noticeable.
Rule Number 3 Don't get pregnant. This rule applies to both
girls and guys. For girls, getting pregnant early unless they are lucky
and have a great family structure in place, will be trapped in a cycle
of poverty. Sure they get benefits from the government, but the money
they get is just enough to keep them trapped in a continuous cycle.
"Why work when I get money from Uncle Sugar." they sell their dreams and
soul for an EBT card. Once the baby arrives, it will be difficult to
continue getting an education to improve themselves and they will be
trapped where they are or even slide into a worse situation than they
have now. I remembered this girl in high school, she wanted to get into
NASA, and become an astronaut. She was brilliant and we could see her
making it. But she got pregnant and had to drop out in the 11th grade.
A few years later I was working at Domino's Pizza after graduating high
school and a year of college then ran out of money. I was delivering
pizza as I was making ready to join the Army for the G.I. bill so I can
go back to school. Well I was delivering a pizza to a dilapidated
trailer and this same girl came to the door. I immediately recognized
her and asked her how it was going. She told me that she had her baby
and was pregnant again. I then asked her " where is your husband?" She
commented that he was probably at the bar getting drunk. I continued
to make small talk for a few minuted then I left. I had an epiphany as I
was leaving. Where she is now is the highpoint of her existence. It
is a slide to grinding poverty and obscurity from here and I was a bit bummed. This
rules also works with guys, if you get a girl pregnant, you also are
responsible and you will have a 18 year commitment and if you and the
girl break up, expect to have child support and possible garnishments to
deal with. Rather than going to school to get a higher education, you
have to enter the work force at a lower paying job to make ends meet and
your dreams are on hold perhaps indefinitely.
If you follow these rules and apply a modicum of common sense, you
should be able to avoid the lower parts of the economic ladder.
Several things are going on right now...This is to the bloggers out there.....Have you had a post that was trying to get out and things keep conspiring to keep you away from the keyboards?...Well this is one of those. Between stuff at home, and going out camping in the COLD with the Boy Scouts I have been very busy. I am forcing myself to slow down so I can get this post out that has been fermenting in my brain...Cool mental picture ain't it? Well here it goes....
I have heard from Eric Erickson at RedState.com that the house republicans are planning a revolt against the leadership for supporting Amnesty for the illegals that are here. Now as much as I would like to deport all of them...realistically that is not an option. First off secure the borders. Back when Ronald Reagan was President, there was amnesty for the illegals, and part of the deal was to secure the borders. Well the party in charge of congress(Heathen godless, amoral,American hating, race baiting Democrats and Tip Oneal said "yep" we will secure the border". Well it has been what almost 30 years and the border is as porous as before. And now as part of Obunglercare mandate that was touted by dear leader was the 30 million uninsured Americans and they need to have coverage...Well part of that 30 million was the 12 million illegals that keep coming over the border. And their numbers are increasing.
Part of the problems is that the illegals use the emergency rooms at the hospital for care and they don't pay. Under federal law I think it is Esserra or something like that, I am going from memory. The hospitals have to treat the indigent, they can't use "patient dumping" and send the patient to another hospital.
Like I stated, sending them all back is an attractive option, but not realistic. I honestly believe that the best option is that we get a guest worker program in place for them, not a path of citizenship and they can't make use of all the social services...like welfare and Hell to the NO in the Anchor babies. That is crap. We cheapen our citizenship by doing this stuff. No other country in the world just "Gives" their citizenship away like we do. And they use it to get a lock on all the government freebees that are available. The people that come over, they have no wish to become American citizens, they believe that they are on a manifest destiny to reconquer the southwest United States and instead of using an armed army, they are using an army of illegals.
The activist that are helping to push this don't mention this part around "Gringo's" It might scare them. They only talk about this amongst themselves. But there has been enough writings and interviews out there that the veil is lifting on the purpose and they use our own laws against us. Here in the United States, we have a system of laws, and the rule of law. Where they come from...There is
no rule of law....Just the Rule of Man and as corrupt as it is.
Again they have no desire to be American citizens, they want to keep their own national identity not as Americans, but Mexicans first. Now I am a student of history, and any culture that lets it be pushed aside doesn't last the test of history. We will be like the Romans when they let the Visigoths in to provide cheap labor and to staff the legion, for the average Roman, there was no desire to serve, to preserve their culture, they believed that they should get everything because they were Romans and they didn't have to work for it. Sounds familiar? Just One State - be sure and read the last
part..From the Botox Queen
This is only one State.................If this doesn't
open eyes, nothing will!
From the L. A.
Times
1. 40% of all workers in L. A. County (
L. A. County has 10.2 million people) are working for
cash and not paying taxes.
This is because they are
predominantly illegal immigrants working without a green
card.
2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los
Angeles are for illegal aliens.
3. 75% of people on the most wanted list
in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.
4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los
Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal, whose births
were paid for by taxpayers.
5. Nearly
35% of all
inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here
illegally.
6. Over 300,000 illegal

(All 10 of the above facts were
published in the Los Angeles Times)
Less than 2% of illegal aliens are

Now What is in for the party of "Gimmedats" Well Democrats believe that if they can tie the hispanic vote to their standard like they did to the blacks with the civil rights acts, they will have an election proof majority and they will always have the reins of power and never lose an election again.
You gotta understand, when the Democrats lost in 1994 it shocked them to the core and they realized that they have to ensure the survivial of their party above all else. TO a democrat, it is Party First, then Family, then nation then God...Unless it is Gaia then that one gets moved to 2nd place. Once you understand that, then you understand the mindset of the Average Democrat. That is why they are pushing the amnesty wagon so hard. They want to get a lock on the fastest growing demographic in the nation. Now the Hispanics that have been here for generations don't like this, They earned their citizenship the old way and they appreciate it. They loyalty is to this country and the many right as an American they earned through hard work and belief in this country and they see amnesty as cheapening the citizenship process and shortcutting it.
Windfall Tax on Retirement
Income
Adding a tax to your retirement is
simply another way of saying to the American people, you're so darn
stupid that we're going to keep doing this until we drain every cent
from you. Nancy Pelosi wants a Windfall Tax on Retirement Income.
In other words tax what you have made by investing toward your
retirement. This woman is a nut case! You aren't going to believe
this.
Nancy Pelosi wants to put a
Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund,
401K and Mutual Funds!
She quotes...' We need to work
toward the goal of equalizing
income,
(didn't Marx say something like
this?),
in our country and at the same
time limiting the amount the rich can invest.'
When asked how these new tax
dollars would be spent, she
replied:
'We need to raise the standard of
living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an
estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help
along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall
profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard
of living they would like to have as 'Americans'.'
(Read that quote again and again
and let it sink in.) 'Lower your retirement, give it to others who
have not worked as you have for
it'.
I have a major problem with this. I and my wife scrimp and save rather than have the latest and greatest because we know "Nobody takes better care of the OLD you than the YOUNG you." as a friend of mine at work would say. And the idea of having our money seized and redistributed to lazy people to give them more money that THEY didn't earn by taking advantage of the opportunities of this country that abound, but rather than work, they took the slacker path then look to the government to provide for them because they are too lazy to do so? Then they look at disdain at we the producers because they think they have it figured out.
Then people wonder why there is an undercurrent of anger in the country where the producers are going Galt in a big way. The Exodus from California to the surround states is unreal, the looters move in from Mexico where you have Obama touting Food Stamps" in Mexican radio stations in Mexico and businesses fleeing the regulatory, legislative, judicial environment of California and then you have Botox Nancy whom is a millionaire by the way touting seizing more money from you and me to give to illegals and other slackers and I guarantee that whatever law they push through, THEY will be exempt from.
Sorry about lack of postings...I have been very busy, I am assistant scoutmaster at one troop and my son in a scout in another so basically I go to 2 meetings and they are on Monday and Tuesday.
I will get to my "Monday Music" Which is "Voices Carry" by "Till Tuesday...(Kinda appropriate there) in a minute..or two but first I will do a few intemperate thoughts. Y'all by now have heard of the EBT glitches that have hit 17 states....Perhaps I am a bit paranoid but this is the first time there has been a widespread "glitch"
The welfare state is unsustainable because of welfare brood mares like This Freeloader
If you want a perfect snapshot of the dysfunction that is
poverty in America, you won’t see a more perfect one than in the above
video. (video at linked site) Angel Adams of Tampa, Florida, has fifteen
children by three different fathers.
15 children by three different fathers! Holy crap! And not a single one is still with her.
And, of course, she doesn’t have a job. All she
knows is getting preggers and expecting other people to pay for her
irresponsibility in having 15 children that she cannot afford to raise.
Adams blames social services for failing to help her.
Social service agencies, however, claim that they were trying to help,
and paid for rent, utilities, and even furniture. In addition, Adams
admits, community members have been helping with food.
What about the other fathers? Shouldn’t they help this baby momma?
“Somebody,” Adams says, “needs to pay for all my children
. . . somebody needs to be held accountable, and they need to pay.” And
there’s your underclass snapshot: It’s somebody else’s problem.
That is the problem, The underclass expect others to help them, and there is no gratitude, just expectation. They believe that they are "owed" this for being a mouthbreather. We had this weekend where Wal-mart in Louisiana had a problem with the EBT cards and no limit indicated,
MANSFIELD,
LA (KSLA) – Shelves in Walmart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, LA
were reportedly cleared Saturday night, when the stores allowed
purchases on EBT cards even though they were not showing limits. The chaos that followed ultimately required intervention from local
police, and left behind numerous carts filled to overflowing, apparently
abandoned when the glitch-spurred shopping frenzy ended. Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd confirms they were called in to
help the employees at Walmart because there were so many people clearing
off the shelves. He says Walmart was so packed, “It was worse than any
black Friday” that he’s ever seen.
The same people used their Obamaphones and contacted each other and that " the free shit at Walmart" This was on some of the twitter feeds that I read.
Lynd explained the cards weren’t showing limits and they
called corporate Walmart, whose spokesman said to let the people use
the cards anyway. From 7 to 9 p.m., people were loading up their carts,
but when the cards began showing limits again around 9, one woman was
detained because she rang up a bill of $700.00 and only had .49 on her
card. She was held by police until corporate Walmart said they wouldn’t
press charges if she left the food. Lynd says at 9 p.m., when the cards came back online and it was
announced over the loud speaker, people just left their carts full of
food in the aisles and left.
The free stuff be gone.
I work at the food pantry in my county, I see these people come in with their obamaphones, bling, and bitch at the food we GIVE them. They demand much and there is no gratitude involved. I have seen people that are happy to get anything, and those are the ones I like to help, they appreciate it. The freeloaders demand and expect it because they believe that they are entitled and "Owed" I have many issues with this. We are creating another generation of "Gimmedats" What will happen when the EBT cards go silent for several days...?
Also The veterans showed up at the D.C on the Potomac and carried the "Barrycades" back to the White House" as a message to the petulant boy-King. that closing off memorials to Veterans is a big No-No
Now we have the Senate GOP caving like a Apartment building in India to the Democrats. They are more concerned about holding on to their power and perks than handling the business that they were elected to. They want to kick the can down the road and have another standoff with Obungler in January on the budget and Debt. They keep hoping to find a way out of this but when Obama and the Democrats are monolithic( Collective groups are like that) there is no give, they want and expect the GOP to give up and slink away. With the able assistance of the mainstream media they have been very successful in controlling the narrative and the blame.
My Monday Music song is "Voices Carry" by the group "Till Tuesday"
"Voices Carry" is a song written and performed by American New Wave band 'Til Tuesday. It was produced by Mike Thorne for the group's debut album Voices Carry,
released in 1985. The song's lyrics, written by Aimee Mann, are about
past sour relationships and were originally written and sung as if to a
woman, but changed due to Epic Records' pressure. The song was inspired by Mann's breakup with Hausman.
The single achieved strong American radio airplay and MTV rotation in the summer of that year.
Directed by D.J. Webster, the accompanying music video received wide exposure on MTV,
positive reactions from critics, was nominated for numerous awards, and
it is attributed to be the reason behind the song's success. It was
released in North America in March 1985 to positive reviews from music
critics. "Voices Carry" became the band's highest charting single and
their only top ten hit in the U.S., peaking at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100. Internationally it reached the top twenty in Canada and Australia.
"Voices Carry" was recorded in 1985 at RPM Sound Studios in New York. The song is about past sour relationships, and was originally written and sung by Aimee Mann as to a woman 'Til Tuesday rehearsed that format in Boston the previous summer, but Epic
was unhappy with the lyrics; they thought that it was a "very powerful,
commercial song", and wanted to remove the lesbian components to appeal
to the mainstream market.
Despite the pressure to replace the lyrics, producer Mike Thorne
thought that "it didn't matter any to the impact of the song itself",
and the band eventually changed the gender of the love interest.
At the beginning, 'Til Tuesday and Thorne were undecided between "Love
in a Vacuum" and "Looking over My Shoulder" to be released as the first
single, but ultimately Epic's A&R executive Dick Wingate chose "Voices Carry", because it "define[d] precisely the band and its style". According to Thorne, his contract stated that he had the right to be the first to remix the song for the 7" single release. He was then told that it had been remixed by Bob Clearmountain;
about this he commented, "not what the rules were [...] but it sounded
pretty good, as well it might coming from one of the finest American
engineer/producers".
The music video for "Voices Carry" was directed by D.J. Webster, and filmed at Dorchester's Strand Theater, in Boston. The clip incorporates dialogue and acting, and resembles a mini-movie. The plot centers around the band's lead singer, Aimee Mann, who appears as a musician with a violent boyfriend, played by actor Cully Holland. He mistreats her for playing in a rock band, and demands that she change her look to fit in his upper-class
lifestyle. The video uses spoken dialogue in between to interrupt the
musical parts, including Mann's boyfriend demands: "Why can't you for
once do something for me?". At the end she lashes out at him during a concert at Carnegie Hall,
she stands up from her seat in the audience and yells the lyrics—"He
said, shut up! He said, shut up! Oh God, can't you keep it down?..."—as
she removes her cap to reveal her spiky, rat-tailed hair.
The success of the single was largely attributed to the video,[26] which received wide exposure on MTV, along with positive reactions from critics and nominations to numerous awards. Keith Thomas of Knight Ridder
newspapers called the video "a clever and stunning effort". Praising
the dialogue and acting he said that it "looks better than most feature films", adding that "everything about the clip is grand". Robert Hilburn of the Los Angeles Times also praised Mann's acting, saying that she appears "marvelously charismatic" in it, while Dennis Hunt from the same newspaper said that it was "cleverly conceived". Debbie del Condo of the Orlando Sentinel called it the "Most Memorable Video of 1985", and added that she will "keep waiting for their next video". In his book Totally awesome 80s, author Matthew Rettenmund called it a "great story video". Author Brent Mann in his book 99 Red Balloons..., called the video "pure New Wave" and added that it was "perfect for MTV and VH1 consumption".
At the 1985 MTV Video Music Awards, the band won the award for Best New Artist in a video. The same year, at the Fourth Annual American Video Awards, Mann was
named the Best Female Performer in a video for "Voices Carry". The video was placed number forty on Slant Magazine's 2003 list of the "100 Greatest Music Videos",and was listed on Pitchfork Media's "100 Awesome Music Videos", in 2006.
The 2012 music video for "Labrador", the second single from her album Charmer,
features a satirical shot-for-shot remake of "Voices Carry" video
within the framing device of Mann having been forced to shoot the video
after inadvertently signing complete control of the video over to
director Tom Scharpling. The video features Jon Wurster as the Wall Street boyfriend, Jon Hamm as Scharpling, and Ted Leo in a cameo.
I have a couple of things that I wish to comment about. The porkulus II A.K.A Obunglers new jobs bill He talks about payroll tax cuts for 1 year...to a business that ain't crap. It will expire around the time of the elections...
You notice that the people behind him on the podium were teachers, police and firemen. All gov't employee members. Oh wait his jobs bill has money to give to the states to help them keep their payroll....or basically keep the union employees working and the contributions to the democrats coming while adding billions to our debt that our kids will have to pay off.
How about that infrastructure repair....Obungler had signed an executive order last year that stated that all infrastructure paid by the feds have to use union labor. Another payoff to his base.
Our kids and grandkids will have to deal with this.
I saw a newspaper article about the poor increasing the most since 1983.
When talking about “poverty” in America, I put the word in quotes because the average “poor” American is struggling to pay their cable bill, not put food on the table. In other words, our definition of poverty in America is an absurdity. Our method of defining “living in poverty” came from the Social Security Administration on instructions from Lyndon Johnson. Johnson needed statistics that would help him push his “Great (welfare) Society.” Funny though, of you ever looked at poverty statistics in America, you will notice that “poverty” declined every single year, since they started tracking in the 1950s. That was every single year … until Lyndon Johnson implemented his “Great Society!” Now the rate has always bounced between 12 and 15%.
Notice that none of these stories about the 2010 poverty statistics actually describe what it means to be “living in poverty” in America. That’s because this picture does not fit into their convenient storyline. Our government’s definition of poverty is absurd -- hence the quotation marks. Here’s a look at what it’s like to live in “poverty” in the United States:
The typical “poor” household in America has a car
78% of “poor” households in America have air conditioning
64% of “poor” households in America have cable or satellite TV .. most have two TVs, along with a DVD player and VCR
Most “poor” households in America with children have a gaming system such as an Xbox or PlayStation
38% of “poor” households in America have a personal computer
Most “poor” households in America have a refrigerator, an oven and stove, and a microwave. They also have other household appliances such as a clothes washer, clothes dryer, ceiling fans, a cordless phone, and a coffee maker.
The typical “poor” American has more living space than the average European.
The typical “poor” American family is able to obtain medical care when needed.
The average “poor” household in America claims to have sufficient funds to meet all essential needs.
Now do you understand why news reporters aren’t rushing to find the nearest “poor” person? I just feel truly sorry for those people in America who are actually, legitimately poor. We can’t focus on them because we are too busy worrying about these households filled with cars, TVs, video games and refrigerators.
As of 2010, the poverty line was drawn at $22,314 (pre-tax) for a family of four. But there is one key element that we are forgetting – by and large these people are also part of the Moocher Class. This $22,314 in pre-tax income does not include any benefits or government handouts. Remember … in America you can do as well working one week a month at minimum wage as you can working $60,000-a-year, full-time, high-stress job. That’s right, " ."A 1 parent family of 3 making minimum wage of $ 14,000 dollars a year has more disposible income than a person making $60,000 a year" Means-test welfare assistance is on track to top $10 trillion in this decade alone! Sure sucks to be “poor” in America, doesn’t it?
I read this piece and it confirmed what I have already suspected and believe, the poor in America have it made. you want to see poor people, go to the 3rd world in Africa or to the huts in South America, That is poverty, not what you see in America. When I was delivering pizza, I delivered to a lot of poor peoples houses, they had section 8 approval, lived in middle/upper class neighborhoods, we pizza drivers knew who the poor were by certain indicators, they had the 50" plasma, the game system, the assorted GM products or Lexus with dub rims, and the lawn furniture doing double duty as living room furniture. "we made jokes like" wings and sprite...the tip will be light" There are soo many people getting assistance from the government like 1 out of 7, where is the self reliance. Getting purpetual goodies from the "gubbment because it is free" is draining the reliance from the people and making them dependent on the government. I give you examples like katrina, the people stayed and waited for the government to tell them what to do. they have become sheep. I understand the need to help, but when it becomes a crutch,or a way to get more stuff, it becomes a problem. Even Obungler admits that generational welfare is bad and that is what we have. Once you get goodies from the government, you will want to keep that benefit coming, and you will vote accordingly to the party that will keep the gravy coming.
Studies released yesterday by the Heritage Foundation show that 30 million Americans are living in “poverty,” according to the US Census Bureau. Wow, that’s a pretty sizable number … until you remember that what it means to be “poor” in America has become a colossal joke. How did this happen? It happened with Lyndon Johnson. He was looking for ways to expand government social programs. So he went to Social Security Administration and asked them to come up with a definition of poverty. He made it clear – we need a definition that will enable us to expand our social welfare programs. So the Social Security Administration came up with a definition that is so absurd that we can inflate to unbelievable heights the supposed number of people living in poverty in the US. These statistics are based on 2005 figures, but after reading the study you can conclude that these figures are pretty similar to our current economy.
