A different take on the special snowflake outbreak on campus.

I have been seeing all the stupidity on the college campuses lately with the special snowflake outbreaks.  I will be cutting and pasting an article I ran across on Townhall that gave me a different take.  The article mentioned the special snowflakes eating their own from the wussy administrators, we have the *BLM*  the "Only Black Lives Matter and nobody else does" doing their protest in a  college library at Dartmouth,

and being rude and obnoxious to the other students whom have been cowed by the P.C. movement to be subservient to angry black people and accept rudeness as penance for the sins of their skin.  The demands of these protesters are getting more strident as they try to stay relevant in the fast moving world of a "Social Justice Warrior".  I saw this article on "Townhall" and shamelessly snagged it.  The pictures are compliments of "Google"

Please don't tell the students at University of Missouri and Yale and all the other throbbing pustules of academia to stop their insanity. Instead, encourage and provoke them to turn the turmoil up to 11, a number most of these students can’t count to without taking off their Nikes. No, we want the campuses to echo with the whiny cries of the Children of the Safe Space Revolution

And we will sit back and point and laugh as the weak-willed, spineless liberal losers of academia abase themselves before their whimpering student bodies. This is just great. As Napoleon observed, never interrupt your enemy while he's making a mistake. Now, mentioning Napoleon probably a microaggression because, in the unlikely event that the gender studies and Marxist interpretive dance majors of Yale and Missouri recognize the name, he’s a cis-het dead white male – and he was not actually differently abled despite being vertically challenged. Still, his advice has merit – just pretend for a moment that he is trans woman-identifying being of color of some sort

Our enemies are tearing themselves apart. Let’s let them, because every time a social justice warrior humiliates other liberals, a conservative gets his wings. See, this has all happened before. For those unfamiliar with that thing called history – I’m talking to you, college students – there was this guy named S.I. Hiyakawa who was head of San Francisco State University back in the 1960s. When a bunch of hippie punks decided to make demands, he stood up to them. He became a hero to normal people, and the voters of California – back before they went insane – elected him senator. In other words, all this idiocy about safe spaces and healing circles and “I am an oppressed special snowflake of love” provides us not only nearly endless amusement, but an opportunity to swoop in after the left has pummeled itself into mush.

This is an opportunity to get back on the side of the American people and do their will by striking back at these leftist twits. Along with the rising crime rate – even as President Faily McWorsethancarter has decided it’s time to free thousands of felons because justice or something – student idiocy provides enterprising conservatives a chance to appeal to the Silent Majority just like Richard Nixon did. For you college students out there, you’ll need to Google his Wikipedia page, but suffice it to say, he won

So let’s make sure Hillary Clinton and the rest of the Democrats have to own this pouty passion play. You know there's no way Hillary can stand up and say what I would: “Hey you little cretins, you’ve got ‘til I count to three to get off my quad or I unleash these state troopers to get all pepper spray and nightstick up on your delicate little booties. Three.”

No, she has to kiss their collective healing circles. And we should make her do it publicly, because there’s nothing normal voters love more than seeing people giving in to petulant sophomores with an attitude. We should force her to take a stand, to decide whether she's on the side of the little college punks, or on the side of Americans. Gee, where do you think she’ll come down? Not with the normals, that’s for sure.

But even as we get a short term political benefit we also have a long term cultural opportunity. An Overton Window is opening to defenestrate academia as it is currently constituted. Right now, as people like Glenn Reynolds and yours truly have written, colleges are pricing themselves out of the market and are increasingly vulnerable to new technology that can deliver an education without all the nonsense. Conservatives can now make an even stronger case that we need to stop subsidizing these government-funded petri dishes of social pathologies and pinko bioweapons. The clown shows at Yale and UofM are a perfect, graphic demonstration of why we should slash their budgets, pare their loathsome, Dem-voting administrations to the bone, and force academia to change – and it goes without saying that the change will be into something other than the lefty conformity factories they are today.

It’s beautiful how this conflict divides the liberals between the establishment and the students, and how it further subdivides two of their main establishment constituencies, academics and mainstream media journalists. For too long, both of these groups of hapless losers have been able to pretend to support free speech. Well, suckers, now it's getting real. The little monsters you spawned don't much like free-speech, and they want you to shut up too, not just us conservatives. Being academics and journalists, and therefore presumptively without spines, most of you guys will submit. A few of you won't, and it will weaken your coalition when some number of your members walk away because they just can’t swallow your catering to these Junior Red Guards.

Oh, and what if you little goofs dare strut off campus thinking that we’re like the professorial puffballs who’ll fold in the face of any intersectional anarcho-feminist who starts bawling about feeling unsafe because someone expressed an idea he/she/it doesn’t like? Well, stampy foot may work with your local Assistant Dean for Diversity and Petty Fascism, but it doesn’t play with us. The Iraqis didn’t stop me from exercising my First Amendment rights, nor the Balkans baddies, nor the scumbag rioters in Los Angeles, so you sure as hell aren’t going to without a fight. If you think you get a vote about what we normal Americans can and can’t say, you best be ready to try and make that happen with more firepower than a vicious Tumblr, because when it comes to the Bill of Rights we’re playing for keeps..

So, fellow freedom lovers, grab a bag of popcorn and a tumbler of scotch, because this is only going to get better and better. And you matriculating Marxist morons, pay no mind to us conservatives or to our laughter. Just keep very publicly making your strategic mistakes in your widdle campus safe spaces, and we will keep letting you – for now.

Defination of insanity....Doing the same stuff and expecting different results...

Lessee...I recall the 2014 election...y'all know the one that just happened.....the one that the GOP got the senate extended the house GOP members.....Remember this little gem from the elections...

How we conservatives busted our butts to help the Stupid party GOP win the senate, and increase the number of conservative members of the GOP in the house.  One of the biggest complaints we had was the former just reelected speaker of the house of representative.  You know the guy that epitomizes the "establishment GOP" brand.....yep...this guy...

The establishment GOP just basically told everybody outside the beltway that was hoping for change in the course of action of congress actually checking the ambitions of the Ruler of the White House, that they will continue to do the same as before...talk a mean game but fund everything that Obama proposes. ...because they are more interested in keeping their perks and privileges as the elitist rather than run on principle that we elected them to do.  They are hoping that the average American voter is too stupid to realize that and vote for them again in 2016.
I am majorly pissed.....If we wanted socialism lite...we would have voted democrat....they at least are honest in their beliefs in growing the central government at the expense of freedom.  The Establishment GOP are doubling down on stupid....they will either put up Jeb Bush or Christie against either Hillary or Warren and the GOP will lose....nothing like kissing off another election cycle....The democrats will promise more free stuff to their base and of course they will come to the polls to keep the government largesse's coming, and the conservative side of the country will be disillusioned and cynical and not vote and the democrats will win the presidency again.....If we don't get our fiscal house in order, there won't be crap to pass down to our kids and eventual grand-kids...except of a dream that was the United States of America, the free beacon of the world and it don't exist...except in the old history books and the dreams and beliefs of a shrinking free people.

Germans pushing a gun registry

This is a liberal wet dream, they haven't learned from the past.   I am a student of history and Hitler disarmed the German Populace in 1935 and at the same time stripped the German Jews of their rights with the Nuremberg Accords.    People forget the lessons of the past and repeat the same mistakes.   The Chicago Messiah and his ilk would love to do the same thing here.  Now we have the U.N. small arms treaty to contend with.  I have already decided to disobey any gun ban and registration demands from Moscow on the Potomac.  I do not see most of the police officers or the Military willing to go door to door and seize firearms.  When I see all these liberal pundits pontificate about "seizing guns" or something along that line, I ask  " you willing to lead the stack and knock down doors to do it.?"   They refuse and say " well that isn't their job."  I being snarky would reply " so you would demand this law but refuse to assist in carrying it out?  Have the regular cops do this and pay in blood for trying to seize privately owned firearms to support these diktats for some socialist wet dream that has never worked anywhere else?"  All gun control does is screw the law abiding citizens, not the criminals.

National German gun registry on target for launch

The German interior minister has said a countrywide database of all legal gun owners is set for launch on January 1. Hans-Peter Friedrich predicted a "considerable increase in security" as a result.
The German government plans to launch its complete registry of legal gun owners at the beginning of next year, two years ahead of a deadline set by the EU.
As with many German authorities, those responsible for weapons licensing and tracking operated on a local basis - with a total of 551 authorities around the country. Under new EU laws, all member countries are obliged to compile a centralized register.
There are an estimated 6 million licensed firearms in Germany.
Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich told reporters in Berlin that the database would provide "a very concrete contribution towards improving public safety." Thanks to the information, he said; police would be able to check "who owns which weapons legally, across the entire country," perhaps more quickly than in the past.
Friedrich also praised the relevant German agencies for setting up the system ahead of schedule.
"With this Germany is one of the first member states to fully comply with the demands of the EU guidelines," the interior minister said.
Instant info in critical cases
Jörg Ziercke, the head of Germany's federal criminal investigative agency, the BKA, said at Monday's presentation that particular gains would be made in investigations where time was of the essence. He told reporters that in the worst case scenario, it used to take three or four months to discover where a weapon came from, whereas soon it should be just a click away.
The January 1 version of the database is only the first, watered-down database documenting only the legal registration of firearms. The upgraded registry should eventually document historical information like weapon producers, dealers, importers and any previous private owners.
The GdP trade union representing many of the country's police officers welcomed the development, while saying that it was a little overdue.
"With this, an old demand from the GdP has been fulfilled. It took a long time, but the technical implementation was quite a challenge," the union's national chairman, Bernhard Witthaut, said. A sister police officers' union issued a similar statement, saying its officers had long lobbied for swifter access to information on firearms.

Lindsey Stone's Job is terminated for vulger act.

I understand the  issues of free speech, but the first amendment is in place to prevent the government from  interfering with the free speech of people.  It doesn't protect a person from foolishness or social ridicule.   Her job was terminated by her employer due to bad publicity that the company received by her boorish behavior especially while "on the clock".  When you are off duty so to speak, that is one thing, but most companies have a code of behavior that they expect their employees to adhere to while "on the clock" as to not bring undue bad publicity and possible loss of income.

Lindsey Stone Fired for Vulgar Facebook Photo at Arlington National Cemetery

The Other McCain reported on this earlier, "Lindsey Stone of Plymouth, Mass., Has ‘Been Placed on Unpaid Leave Pending the Results of an Internal Investigation’."

But she's gone now, according to the Boston Herald, "Shamed Facebook poster loses her job":

Lindsay Stone
Lindsey Stone — the Plymouth woman taking an online beating for posting a photo of herself flipping the bird at Arlington National Cemetery on Facebook — has lost her job.

“Lindsey resigned and we accepted her resignation,” LIFE Inc. CEO Diane Enochs told the Herald tonight.

LIFE Inc. of Hyannis — a Cape Cod nonprofit that helps adults with special needs — announced tonight that Stone, along with the woman who snapped the offending photo, are not working there.

Ironically, the formal announcement was made on Facebook.

“We wish to announce that the two employees recently involved in the Arlington Cemetery incident are no longer employees of LIFE. Again, we deeply regret any disrespect to members of the military and their families. The incident and publicity has been very upsetting to the learning disabled population we serve. To protect our residents, any comments, however well-intentioned, will be deleted. We appreciate your concern and understanding as we focus on the care of our community,” the statement reads.
There's more at that top link, but see this from the Herald as well, "Father ‘appalled’ by disrespectful Facebook pic":
The mortified father of a Plymouth woman under cyber assault for posting a photo of herself flipping the bird at sacred Arlington National Cemetery said his only daughter apologizes to anyone she’s offended — especially soldiers.

The controversial Facebook photo shows Lindsey Stone with her mouth wide open and giving the finger near what appears to be the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and a sign that reads: “Silence and Respect.”

“She’s totally apologetic. She apologizes to anybody she’s offended,” her father, Peter Stone, told me last night. “She was reacting, I guess, to the sign instead of the place and didn’t intend it to be what it turned out to be.

“She had a lack of judgment,” added her father, who learned of the controversy yesterday. “I think they were just being funny, which is sad. It’s not how she or the family feels by any means.”

The photo wound up in the blogosphere and has sparked a “Fire Lindsey Stone” Facebook page that had fetched more than 9,000 likes as of last night.

Stone and Jamie Schuh, the woman who snapped the photo, have been put on unpaid leave from their jobs at the Hyannis-based LIFE Inc. — a nonprofit that helps adults with special needs — while it investigates the incident.
Well, it's permanent unpaid leave for the both of them now.

And extremely poor judgement it was. No doubt the company considered the woman to continuing liability to the concern and had to cut her loose.

And head back over to The Other McCain for a bit on the sordidness of Ms. Stone's actions. Word has it she was visiting Arlington on a company-paid trip, so that would make it look like the non-profit was financing the vulgarity. There's no way they could keep her on, although as bad as it was, for all it's vulgarity, flipping off the Tomb of the Unknowns is a form of political speech. Perhaps the outcome would have been different had Ms. Stone visited on her own time and her own dime. She would at least have had a better case for keeping her job. Either way, she's paying for her stupidity as much as her speech.

Courting Disaster......

CIA Book Review, for the historical record . . .

----------

As President George W. Bush's top speech writer, Marc Thiessen was provided unique access to the CIA program used in interrogating top Al Qaeda terrorists, including the mastermind of the 9/11 attack, Khalid Sheikh Mohammad (KSM).

Now, his riveting new book, "Courting Disaster", How the CIA Kept America Safe (Regnery), has been published.

Here is an excerpt from "Courting Disaster":

"Just before dawn on March 1, 2003, two dozen heavily armed Pakistani tactical assault forces move in and surround a safe house in Rawalpindi. A few hours earlier they had received a text message from an informant inside the house. It read: "I am with KSM."

Bursting in, they find the disheveled mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, in his bedroom. He is taken into custody. In the safe house, they find a treasure trove of computers, documents, cell phones and other valuable "pocket litter."

Once in custody, KSM is defiant. He refuses to answer questions, informing his captors that he will tell them everything when he gets to America and sees his lawyer. But KSM is not taken to America to see a lawyer Instead he is taken to a secret CIA "black site" in an undisclosed location.

Upon arrival, KSM finds himself in the complete control of Americans. He does not know where he is, how long he will be there, or what his fate will be.

Despite his circumstances, KSM still refuses to talk. He spews contempt at his interrogators, telling them Americans are weak, lack resilience, and are unable to do what is necessary to prevent the terrorists from succeeding in their goals. He has trained to resist interrogation. When he is asked for information about future attacks, he tells his questioners scornfully: "Soon, you will know."

It becomes clear he will not reveal the information using traditional interrogation techniques. So he undergoes a series of "enhanced interrogation techniques" approved for use only on the most high-value detainees. The techniques include waterboarding.

His resistance is described by one senior American official as "superhuman." Eventually, however, the techniques work, and KSM becomes cooperative-for reasons that will be described later in this book.

He begins telling his CIA de-briefers about active al Qaeda plots to launch attacks against the United States and other Western targets. He holds classes for CIA officials, using a chalkboard to draw a picture of al Qaeda's operating structure, financing, communications, and logistics. He identifies al Qaeda travel routes and safe havens, and helps intelligence officers make sense of documents and computer records seized in terrorist raids. He identifies voices in intercepted telephone calls, and helps officials understand the meaning of coded terrorist communications. He provides information that helps our intelligence community capture other high-ranking terrorists, KSM's questioning, and that of other captured terrorists, produces more than 6,000 intelligence reports, which are shared across the intelligence community, as well as with our allies across the world.

In one of these reports, KSM describes in detail the revisions he made to his failed 1994-1995 plan known as the "Bojinka plot" to blow up a dozen airplanes carrying some 4,000 passengers over the Pacific Ocean.

Years later, an observant CIA officer notices the activities of a cell being followed by British authorities appear to match KSM's description of his plans for a Bojinka-style attack.

In an operation that involves unprecedented intelligence cooperation between our countries, British officials proceed to unravel the plot. On the night of Aug. 9, 2006 they launch a series of raids in a northeast London suburb that lead to the arrest of two dozen al Qaeda terrorist suspects. They find a USB thumb-drive in the pocket of one of the men with security details for Heathrow airport, and information on seven trans-Atlantic flights that were scheduled to take off within hours of each other:

* United Airlines Flight 931 to San Francisco departing at 2:15 p.m.;

* Air Canada Flight 849 to Toronto departing at 3:00 p.m.;

* Air Canada Flight 865 to Montreal departing at 3:15 p.m.;

* United Airlines Flight 959 to Chicago departing at 3:40 p.m.;

* United Airlines Flight 925 to Washington departing at 4:20 p.m.;

* American Airlines Flight 131 to New York departing at 4:35 p.m.;

* American Airlines Flight 91 to Chicago departing at 4:50 p.m.

They seize bomb-making equipment and hydrogen peroxide to make liquid explosives. And they find the chilling martyrdom videos the suicide bombers had prepared."

----------
Today, if you asked an average person on the street what they know about the 2006 airlines plot, most would not be able to tell you much.

Few Americans are aware of the fact al Qaeda had planned to mark the fifth anniversary of 9/11 with an attack of similar scope and magnitude.

And still fewer realize the terrorists' true intentions in this plot were uncovered thanks to critical information obtained through the interrogation of the man who conceived it: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

This is only one of the many attacks stopped with the help of the CIA interrogation program established by the Bush Administration in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Editor's Note: For other foiled terrorist plots, see page 9 of "Courting Disaster".

In addition to helping break up these specific terrorist cells and plots, CIA questioning provided our intelligence community with an unparalleled body of information about al Qaeda Until the program was temporarily suspended in 2006, intelligence officials say, well over half of the information our government had about al Qaeda-how it operates, how it moves money, how it communicates, how it recruits operatives, how it picks targets, how it plans and carries out attacks-came from the interrogation of terrorists in CIA custody.

Former CIA Director George Tenet has declared: "I know this program has saved lives. I know we've disrupted plots. I know this program alone is worth more than what the FBI, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the National Security Agency put together have been able to tell us."

Former CIA Director Mike Hayden has said: "The facts of the case are that the use of these techniques against these terrorists made us safer. It really did work."

Even Barack Obama's Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, has acknowledged: "High-value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used and provided a deeper understanding of the al Qaeda organization that was attacking this country."

Leon Panetta, Obama's CIA Director, has said: "Important information was gathered from these detainees. It provided information that was acted upon."

And John Brennan, Obama's Homeland Security Advisor, when asked in an interview if enhanced-interrogation techniques were necessary to keep America safe, replied: "Would the U.S. be handicapped if the CIA was not, in fact, able to carry out these types of detention and debriefing activities? I would say yes."

On Jan. 22, 2009, President Obama issued Executive Order 13491, closing the CIA program and directing that, henceforth, all interrogations by U.S. personnel must follow the techniques contained in the Army Field Manual.

The morning of the announcement, Mike Hayden was still in his post as CIA Director, he called White House Counsel Greg Craig and told him bluntly: "You didn't ask, but this is the CIA officially nonconcurring". The president went ahead anyway, over ruling the objections of the agency.

A few months later, on April 16, 2009, President Obama ordered the release of four Justice Department memos that described in detail the techniques used to interrogate KSM and other high-value terrorists. This time, not just Hayden (who was now retired) but five CIA directors -- including Obama's own director, Leon Panetta -- objected. George Tenet called to urge against the memos' release. So did Porter Goss. So did John Deutch. Hayden says: "You had CIA directors in a continuous unbroken stream to 1995 calling saying, 'Don't do this.'"

In addition to objections from the men who led the agency for a collective 14 years, the President also heard objections from the agency's covert field operatives. A few weeks earlier, Panetta had arranged for the eight top officials of the Clandestine Service to meet with the President. It was highly unusual for these clandestine officers to visit the Oval Office, and they used the opportunity to warn the President that releasing the memos would put agency operatives at risk. The President reportedly listened respectfully -- and then ignored their advice.

With these actions, Barack Obama arguably did more damage to America's national security in his first 100 days of office than any President in American history

Zimbabwe Mugabe nominated for international Tourism by the U.N?

The U.N nominates Zimbabwe(Rhodesia) president as a symbol of tourism...?  lessee the same Robert Mugabe that has seized most of the white owned farms from the owners, and passed them off to the veterans of his army.  The same person that has turned the breadbasket of Africa into the basket case?  The same person that has thrown his political enemies in prison or killed them is awarded the international tourism award?  The same person that has nationalized the industries in Zimbabwe and turned them over to his political cronies...?   This amply demonstrated the utter ineptness of the U.N among other examples....

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe addresses his supporters at the party's conference in Mutare about 250 kilometers east of Harare Friday, Dec. 17, 2010. Mugabe vowed Friday to avenge Western economic curbs imposed on his ZANU PF party in measures to include seizures of foreign-owned businesses and mining interests. (AP Photo/Tsvangirayi Mukwazhi)
The United Nations’ new international envoy for tourism is none other than Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, The Guardian reports.
Mugabe has been accused of ethnic cleansing, strictly controlling elections and the press, and ruining Zimbabwe’s economy.
The Zimbabwe president is an unlikely choice for the post of UN ambassador, which normally is reserved for high-profile, do-gooder celebrities such as David Beckham and Ricky Martin. Mugabe is also currently subject to UN sanctions that include a travel ban, making the decision to honor him as a “leader for tourism” even more confusing.
The post involves hosting the UN World Tourism Organization’s general assembly next August and fostering the growth of tourism in Zimbabwe and around the world.
The UN’s World Tourism Organization honored Mugabe’s ally, Zambian president Michael Sata, at the same time. Because the Zimbabwean president is not allowed to leave his country, Mugabe signed an agreement with the UN World Tourism Organization, UNWTO secretary general Taleb Rifai, and fellow ambassador Zambian president Michael Sata at the shared border of Zambia and Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls.
Several human rights group have expressed their outrage at the appointment, including the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition and Movement for Democratic Change. British MP Kate Hoey, the chair of a parliamentary group on Zimbabwe, called the announcement “an affront to the people of Zimbabwe” and “disgraceful.”
Mugabe and his political party, Zanu-PF, insisted the leader’s appointment was proof of the progress being made in Zimbabwe.
“The situation on the ground in Zimbabwe is not as bad as portrayed,” Rugare Gumbo, a Mugabe spokesman claimed. The UN high commissioner for human rights, Navi Pillay, seems to agree, and is urging countries to lift sanctions on Zimbabwe in order to help the nation’s poor.
The UNWTO states that there is no official ambassador program and that Mugabe has received an open letter from the UNWTO urging him to support tourism and sustainable development for the benefit of the Zimbabwean people

800 million proposed by Obungler for "Arab Spring"

This falls into the category "YGTBSM".  lessee give money  we don't have to people that don't like us.  How much of that proposed millions will be used to load up Swiss bank accounts and send more explosives to terrorist organizations that are hostile to us and Israel.   This is almost as lame as "cash for clunkers" and the great Porkulus, slush fund for democrats, payoff for political cronies.  Stumulus 1.   I will be sending a snail mail letter to my congresscritters in both houses.  they may blow me off but it will be on paper, the old fashioned way.  it gets their attention more than phone calls or e-mail will.     Damm this is asinine and stupid, not to mention extremely naive.  The results of Arab Spring is a middle east that is more theologically islamic and less secular than before.  We have the muslim brotherhood and other groups making huge inroads in their electorial process.  We as a nation borrow .40 cents on the dollar and we want to give them 800 million of our hard earned tax dollars?   I am having a hard time grasping the thought processes of such a proposal.

WASHINGTON | Mon Feb 13, 2012 12:39pm EST
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House announced plans on Monday to help "Arab Spring" countries swept by revolutions with more than $800 million in economic aid, while maintaining U.S. military aid to Egypt. In his annual budget message to Congress, President Barack Obama asked that military aid to Egypt be kept at the level of recent years -- $1.3 billion -- despite a crisis triggered by an Egyptian probe targeting American democracy activists.
The proposals are part of Obama's budget request for fiscal year 2013, which begins October 1. His requests need the approval of Congress, where some lawmakers want to cut overseas spending to address U.S. budget shortfalls and are particularly angry at Egypt.
Obama proposed $51.6 billion in funding for the U.S. State Department and foreign aid overall, when $8.2 billion in assistance to war zones is included. The "core budget" for the category would increase by 1.6 percent, officials said.
Most of the economic aid for the Arab Spring countries -- $770 million -- would go to establish a new "Middle East and North Africa Incentive Fund," the president said in his budget plan.
Analysts said it was difficult to tell how much of the proposal was actually new money.
"As presented it's very difficult to determine if the Arab spring fund is new wine in new bottles or old wine in new bottles," said John Norris, a former U.S. foreign aid worker now at the Center for American Progress.
The Middle East and North Africa Incentive fund "will provide incentives for long-term economic, political, and trade reforms to countries in transition -- and to countries prepared to make reforms proactively," the White House budget document said.
The proposal said this approach "expands our bilateral economic support in countries such as Tunisia and Yemen, where transitions are already underway."
It would also build on other programs for the area, including up to $2 billion in regional Overseas Private Investment Corporation financing, up to $1 billion in debt swaps for Egypt, and approximately $500 million in existing funds re-allocated to respond to the region last year, the budget document said.
It did not say how the Middle East and North Africa Incentive Fund would be divided between countries, or give any other details of the plan.
Egypt has long been among the top recipients of U.S. aid, getting about $1.6 billion annually, mostly in military assistance. In fiscal 2012, $250 million of aid approved for Egypt was economic; $1.3 billion was military and there was a $60 million "enterprise fund" approved by Congress.
No U.S. assistance is moving to Egypt at the moment, U.S. lawmakers and their aides said last week. Some legislators favor cutting off aid to Egypt entirely if it does not drop accusations against American democracy activists and lift a travel ban on them.
Obama continued the practice of putting proposed foreign assistance for war zones in a separate account. This account, known as the "Overseas Contingency Operations," includes $8.2 billion for the State Department and foreign aid.
It includes $3.3 billion for Afghanistan, $1 billion for Pakistan, and $4 billion for Iraq, where U.S. troops have left the country but the State Department has picked up some of their functions such as police training.

Turf war crap again........

Army, Air Force continue duel over light cargo aircraft
The chiefs of staff of the Army and Air Force are negotiating another agreement about light cargo aircraft — again, reports AvWeek’s Amy Butler.
The saga of the two services’ battle over which one would get to operate small cargo aircraft in support of ground troops downrange has become like something out of Nordic lore, with so many chapters and twists and turns it’s tough to keep straight. Butler gave the history:
If this all sounds familiar, it is. Recall that USAF Gen. T. Michael Moseley’s coming out speech as the top Air Force officer at the AFA symposium in the fall of 2005. He took that opportunity to announce that the Air Force was pursuing a new light cargo aircraft procurement. This proclamation was made oddly as the Army was in the midst of setting up its future cargo aircraft program, which was crafted to replace old Sherpas and provide more immediate access to commanders for cargo support. Moseley’s push, along with his similar move to take over the Army’s burgeoning UAV force at the time, was seen as an abrupt roles-and-missions grab by the Air Force in the midst of two major wars. In the case of the cargo aircraft role, the Air Force won.
The blue suiters wound up cutting the Army’s onetime goal for 125 new small cargo aircraft to 38 C-27J Spartans, Butler writes, while the Army’s old C-23 Sherpas are still flying after all. And get this:
[T]he kicker for the Army is that the Air Force is said to be considering an early termination of the C-27J program to funnel money to other urgent service priorities.
That would mean the Air National Guard could wind up with 21 airplanes, a cutback so steep that Italian defense giant Finmeccanica scrapped plans to put a final assembly facility in Florida; instead its Alenia division is just building all the airplanes at home, Butler writes.
And with all this water under the bridge, the basic issue here remains:
[T]he question today as the Army and Air Force both attempt to normalize their fleets after surging for war support for a decade is: What is the right number of small cargo lifters for the direct support role? And, who should lead this role?
Army officials have long argued that an Army officer must lead this mission to ensure that Army commanders’ needs are the priority; they fear that the Air Force will de-emphasize Army unit requirements against the more strategic priorities of regional cargo movements of larger amounts of goods. The Air Force, however, has long countered that it best knows how to provide airborne logistics support across a fleet of aircraft, including C-27J, C-130 and the C-17.
“De-emphasis” sounds like exactly what has happened here. By the time these two services get their act together, the war in Afghanistan may be over.

Earth day idiots

You know, for a while I wondered why Earth day was on Lenin's Birthday Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (22 April 1870 – 21 January 1924), was the godfather and founder of the modern communist movement.  I suspected that the environmental movement is just a cloak for anti-capitalistic activities since capitalism is the great satan to the communist and other hard and softcore leftist that hang around the Western based societies like parasites.  You will not find them anywhere else.  They are with us because of our laws protect idiots, and other places rule of law is a nasty gulag or a 9mm bullet in the ear.

Earth Day is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment. Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in first held on April 22, 1970. While this first Earth Day was focused on the United States, an organization launched by Denis Hayes, who was the original national coordinator in 1970, took it international in 1990 and organized events in 141 nations.[1][2] Earth Day is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network,[3] and is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year.[4] Numerous communities celebrate Earth Week, an entire week of activities focused on environmental issues. In 2009, the United Nations designated April 22 International Mother Earth Day.[5]
