I am a huge fan of "The Far Side" comics, one of my favorite all time comics is this one...
We used "white out" to change the words in the cartoon while we were in Germany and subsitute names of our fellow soldiers to make the point more personal. It provided a lot of humor for us.
Now on the reason for this post, I have on my blogroll The Abode of McThag. He is a real good guy and has a warped sense of humor, but everytime I click on the Link to his blog I think of this cartoon from the "Far Side".
I hope Angus don't mind my putting a spotlight on his blog. He is a good guy and a very serious gamer and he also puts out a lot of cool stuff on stabby things and many other articles. If you don't have him bookmarked or on your blogroll, you are missing out.
A thagomizer is the distinctive arrangement of four to ten spikes on the tails of stegosaurid dinosaurs. These spikes are believed to have been a defensive measure against predators.
The arrangement of spikes originally had no distinct name; the term Thagomizer was coined in 1982 by cartoonist Gary Larsonin his comic The Far Side, and thereafter became gradually adopted as an informal term within scientific circles, research, and education.
Thagomizer on mounted Stegosaurus tail
There has been debate about whether the spikes were used simply for display, as posited by Gilmore in 1914,[or used as a weapon. Robert Bakker noted that it is likely that the stegosaur tail was much more flexible than those of other ornithischiandinosaurs because it lacked ossified tendons, thus lending credence to the idea of the tail as a weapon. He also observed that Stegosaurus could have maneuvered its rear easily by keeping its large hindlimbs stationary and pushing off with its very powerfully muscled but short forelimbs, allowing it to swivel deftly to deal with attack. In 2010, analysis of a digitized model of Kentrosaurus aethiopicus showed that the tail could bring the thagomizer around to the sides of the dinosaur, possibly striking an attacker beside it.
A thagomizer on the tail of a Stegosaurus fossil
In 2001, a study of tail spikes by McWhinney et al.,showed a high incidence of trauma-related damage. This too supports the theory that the spikes were used in combat. There is also evidence for Stegosaurus defending itself, in the form of an Allosaurus tail vertebra with a partially healed puncture wound that fits a Stegosaurus tail spike.Stegosaurus stenops had four dermal spikes, each about 60–90 cm (2.0–3.0 ft) long. Discoveries of articulated stegosaur armor show that, at least in some species, these spikes protruded horizontally from the tail, not vertically as is often depicted. Initially, Marsh described S. armatus as having eight spikes in its tail, unlike S. stenops. However, recent research re-examined this and concluded this species also had four
The term "thagomizer" was coined by Gary Larson in jest, in a 1982 The Far Sidecomic in which a group of cavemen in a faux-modern lecture hall are taught by their caveman professor that the spikes on a stegosaur's tail are so named "after the late Thag Simmons".
The term was picked up initially by Ken Carpenter, a paleontologist at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, who used the term when describing a fossil at the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology Annual Meeting in 1993.Thagomizer has since been adopted as an informal anatomical term, and is used by the Smithsonian Institution,[the Dinosaur National Monument, the book The Complete Dinosaurand the BBC documentary series Planet Dinosaur.
The cartoon fate of Thag Simmons notwithstanding, stegosaurs and humans did not exist in the same era; humans evolvedaround 60 million years after the event that killed all non-avian dinosaurs, and some 120 million years after stegosaurids went extinct. In The Prehistory of the Far Side, Gary Larson suggests that "there should be cartoon confessionals where we could go and say things like, 'Father, I have sinned – I have drawn dinosaurs and hominids together in the same cartoon.
I have been quoting "Conan" since the early 80's when I first saw the movie. I really though it was a catchy quote.
I have modified it somewhat when dealing with my scouts, I would use the term,
"Crush your enemies...See them driven off the campfield and hear the lamentation of their scoutmasters."
What can I say, I have a weird sense of humor.
And here is something for the modern political scene...
Funny
thing...My son and I took D.O.G for a walk at Sandy Ridge BMX Park and
we were walking the trail and I saw one of the birdhouses we built when my son was a cub scout. Either wolf or bear..can't remember exactly when
but it was still there. I thought that was pretty neat :) He is a life scout now. I remember building new ones after the original ones were busted up several weeks after we built them.
Some Humor; You know when you park in a bad part of town...
I still am writing my "NASA" post with Pictures..*Yay*!!, but I decided to throw some humor out there.....because I am like that.....
I saw this in my morning surfing and I decided to google it and get some more stuff..
This is a humorous rendition of a brain of a SJW. Those creatures that exist on pure emotion and live in the here and now....Logical thought and long term insight are lacking in these creatures.
I always to shock people by making comments about my clubbing baby seals in the early 80's. The look of horror is so worth it. I almost feel sorry for the SJW's, their cause is so fleeting and always looking for the next cause to feel relevant in today's world. They have forsaken honor and integrity in their search for the next great cause, and when they can't find them..they turn angry and bitter and are further excluded by their fellow humans.....they turn to this...
Ask Murphy about the crazy cat people down the street ...
I saw this on facebook and laughed my butt off...was some funny but twisted stuff lemme tell you.
" Cause of Workplace Violence..."
I had commented that in my workplace...that stuff has magical properties..we use them to barter favors, thank a crew for doing good...or if you are coming in late...you stop and bring in donuts. The leads don't dock you...but you pay anyway.....it all balances out....when somebody else is late...you benefit from their oversleeping.
Then the next day...this appears.......compliments of the "Coffee Fund"
I was showing the previous picture around as we were eating the still warm, melt into your mouth fresh donuts...the only way you get them is when the light is on..... Everybody in my crew commented "whomever did the donut to veggie switch is an evil, wicked S.O.B that there would be a special place in hell for somebody that would do such a dastardly deed.......Like I said...this stuff has magical properties at work.
I saw this pic on the U.S.S. Yorktown, I having a warped sense of humor thought it was pretty good, I don't know if the modern navy would immortalize the same thing as they did the navigator of the carrier back in the late 60's
Well I was at work and one of the desktops had this picture on it so it got me thinking about what next to blog about.
I always liked FogHorn Leghorn, especially the "southern-ism" that the rooster uses. One of my favorite quotes is "“Fortunately I always keep a spare in my locker”. I even use the same inflection as the character.
Here is a list of quotes from various FogHorn Leghorn cartoons: “Love that dog … love that dog” “What’s it all about boy, elucidate!” “That’s a joke, I say that’s a joke son” “Go, I say go away boy, you bother me” “His muscles are as soggy as a used tea bag” “I made a funny son and you’re not laughin’ “That boy’s about as sharp as a bowling ball” “I keep pitchin’ ‘em and you keep missin’ ‘em” “That boy’s as timid as a canary at a cat show” “Fortunately I always keep a spare in my locker” “That woman’s as cold as a nudist on an iceberg” “Nice mannered kid, just a little on the dumb side” “That kid’s about as sharp as a pound of wet liver” “You’re way off, I say you’re way off this time son!” “Nice girl, but about as sharp as a sack of wet mice” “Nice boy but he’s got more nerve than a bum tooth” “I say, boy, pay attention when I’m talkin’ to ya, boy” “Pay attention, boy, I’m cuttin’ but you ain’t bleedin’!” “Smart boy, got a mind like a steel trap – full of mice” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “Hmmm, bare, I say bare as a cooch dancers midriff” “Oh, that woman, got a mouth like an outboard motor” “That dog’s like taxes, he just don’t know when to stop” “That boy’s as strong as an ox, and just about as smart” “Now I wonder what ol’ busy body widow hen is up to” “Boy’s gotta mouth like a cannon, always shootin’ it off” “This boy’s more mixed up than a feather in a whirlwind” “That dog, I say that dog’s strictly GI – gibberin idiot that is” “Don’t, I say don’t bother me dog, can’t ya see I’m thinkin’ “For-I say fortunately I always carry a spare set of feathers” “That, I say that boy’s just like a tatoo, gets under your skin” “Kid don’t quit talkin’ so much he’ll get his tongue sunburned” “That dog, I say that dog is lower than a snake full of buckshot” “That dog’s as subtle as a hand grenade in a barrrel of oat meal” “Boy, you cover about as much as a flapper’s skirt in a high wind” “Pay attention to me boy! I’m not just talkin’ to hear my head roar” “That’s the trouble with that fool dog, always shootin’ his mouth off” “That’s what I’ve been – I say, that’s what I’ve been telling you, boy!” “Now what, I say now what’s that skinny old hen doin’ up on the barn” “That, I say that dog’s busier than a centipede at a toe countin’ contest” “Now cut that out boy, or I’ll spank you where the feathers are thinnest”
“Look sister is any of this filterin’ through that little blue bonnet of yours” “I got, I say I got this boy as fidgety as a bubble dancer with a slow leak” “Stop, I say stop it boy, you’re doin’ alot of choppin’ but no chips are flyin’ “This is going to cause more confusion than a mouse in a burlesque show” “You know there might, I say there just might be a market for bottled duck” “What’s, I say what’s the big idea wrappin’ a lariat around my adams apple” “Fortunately I keep my feathers numbered, for, for just such an emergency” “What in the, I say what in the name of Jesse James do you suppose that is” “Gal reminds me of a highway between Forth Worth and Dallas – no curves” “Now what, I say what’s the big idea bashin’ me in the bazooka that-a-way boy!” “She remi – I say, she reminds me of Paul Revere’s ride, a little light in the belfry” “Now what, I say what’s the big idea bashin’ me on the noggin’ with a rollin’ pin!” “Now who’s, I say who’s responsible for this unwarranted attack on my person!” “This boy’s making more noise than a couple of skeletons throwin’ a fit on a tin roof” “The snow, I say the snow’s so deep the farmers have to jack up the cows so they can milk’em” “What a day for trampin’ through the woods … lump dum do di do do doh, doo dah, doo dah” “Now that, I say that’s no way for a kid to be wastin’ his time, readin’ that long-haired gobbledegook” “It’s sure, I say it’s sure quiet around here, you could hear a caterpillar sneakin’ across a moss bed in tennis shoes” “As senior rooster ’round here, it’s my duty, and my pleasure, to instruct junior roosters in the ancient art of roostery” “Hey boy, what’s the idea jackin’ that pot up under me? Jack? Pot? Ahuh, huh … jack pot, that’s a joke son, don’t ya get it?”
The character of Foghorn Leghorn was directly inspired by the popular character of Senator Claghorn, a blustering Southern politician played by Kenny Delmar who was a regular character on the Fred Allenradio
show. The rooster adopted many of Claghorn's catch phrases, such as
"That's a joke, ah say, that's a joke, son." Delmar had based the
character of Claghorn upon a Texas rancher who was fond of saying this.
A leghorn is a breed of chicken, and foghorn describes the character's loud, overbearing voice.
According to Leonard Maltin
the character's voice was also patterned after a hard-of-hearing West
Coast-only radio character from the 1930s, known simply as The Sheriff,
on a radio program called Blue Monday Jamboree. The voice has similarities to that of another Mel Blanc voice: Yosemite Sam (a strictly Friz Freleng character).
Foghorn Leghorn is a large, white adult Leghornrooster with a stereotypically Southern accent, a "good ol' boy"
speaking style, and a penchant for mischief. The first half of his name
is a joke about him being loud and obnoxious, while the second half
refers to a breed of chicken (a white leghorn). He first appeared in 1946 in a Henery Hawk film titled Walky Talky Hawky. All of the motion picture Foghorn Leghorn cartoons were directed by Robert McKimson, and the rooster vies with the Tasmanian Devil as the most popular character associated with the director.
Many of the gags involved Foghorn and a canine nemesis (formally known as The Barnyard Dog within Warner today, though on early model sheets
his name is given as George P. Dog) engaging in one-upmanship through a
series of pranks. Unlike other Looney Tunes rivalries—with the notable
exception of the Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner
series—Foghorn is often the initial aggressor out of self-amusement and
subsequently on the 'losing' end of gags. Most common among them was
Leghorn's taking up a plank of wood, while ambling along humming "Camptown Races"
(the only intelligible words being "DOO-Dah! DOO-Dah!"), coming to the
sleeping Dog with his front half inside his doghouse, picking up his
tail and rapidly spanking the dog with a plank of wood. Occasionally,
Foghorn sings the song, but replaces "Camptown ladies sing this song..."
with "Lump-teen-dozen and a-doo-dah day...". He does not sing any other
part of the song, reverting to humming after the DOO-Dah's. Foghorn
Leghorn loses his feathers very often in the episodes, usually revealing
his bare skin or his boxers.
The dog would give chase, usually with his leash still attached to
his collar, until the leash stretched taut and his barking was replaced
by an anguished howl. At times, when the dog would continue to bark, he
would also yell, "Aaaaaahhhhh, shuuutupp!!" In rare cases, it's
the dog that starts the series of pranks; as such it is somewhat
difficult to tell who started the feud. This gag was passed down to the
Leghorns' grandson in Feather Bluster,
where Foghorn was puzzled as to why the kid was behaving that way and
the Dog was all too happy to remind him: "Ain't nothin' wrong with 'im,
Foggy, 'cept that he takes after you."
He was joined in a few episodes by a weasel called 'Bill' who
initially attempted to eat him but ended up joining forces to outwit the
aforementioned canine.
Other recurring themes throughout the cartoons included the attempts of the diminutive Henery Hawk to catch and eat Foghorn, and the rooster's efforts to woo the widowed hen Miss Prissy (often by babysitting her bookish son, Egghead, Jr.).
I saw this on my infrequent forays into Facebook. I figured I could go on a rant on this subject. I don't smoke but I did like the cigarette in the cartoons.
First off Lets go with Low Information Voters.: These are the voters that only watch "entertainment tonight or some other celebrity worship show. They tend to vote "democrat" since it is stylish and most of their "hero's" support democratic causes....and because they "care". These people never bother to educate themselves on an issue and realize the ramifications of their actions.
Leeches...Burdens to society; these people are the ones that you see "game" the entitlement system to get the most dollars out of the system, from having more kids to increase their payout, subsedized school lunch and a myriad of other "safety net" entitlements to voting for democratic politicians to keep the largesse coming. They view productive members of society with disdain and mock them because the productive members of society are stupid and work when they don't have to.
Liberal Democrats&Progressives : their cause is "fairness" from pay to social justice...it is all about "fairness". Hard work and ability doesn't factor in with them. If everybody would just listen to them, all would be alright,. "We know what is best for you, we are smarter than you...See we went to school and we know how things are supposed to be." Now if you would just get rid of your guns and religion, we can work for that shiny city on the hill as long as you would do as you are told by us since we know what is best for you."
Obamabots This a special category of people, no matter what the president does, they will blindingly support him.no matter what. These are the people that organize for him, protest for his policies(such as it were) and blindingly support him no matter how much damage he does.
I saw this on a fellow coworkers toolbox and got a laugh on it. I will be busy again this weekend camping with the Boy Scouts...and it is supposed to rain.....Or we call it "Liquid Sunshine". and I like the use the phrase "If it ain't raining....it ain't training.." I will use the scheduler to upload stuff for the weekend.....The scheduler worked well last time.
Consider this a P.S.A. from this blog.
I am planning a trip to "Bass Pro Shops" to pick up a little bit of ammo. I have been buying a bit of ammo each week to build up my stock. I am looking for .22LR, .38 special, .357 magnum, 40 cal, and of course 12 GA and 5.56 and some more .308. Gotta see how it goes....Perhaps next week.
This kinda describes the average bed in the average American home, Another scheduler post. I have several scheduled post stacked in the Que. so something will *hopefully* show up on the blog while I am gone...I will see how this works:)
I ram across this while surfing around and figured my readers would get a kick out of it. Some of them are pretty good.
Since I have some police mentioned in this cliche post. There are people that want to ban certain weapons except for the police. I figured I would change it up from Assault rifles to "Donuts" So I had this pic sitting around in my "blog folder" that I have where I pull out these pics I seem to come up with. I will use it.
The kicker is looking at them at 5:00 in the morning after posting it contemplating a dunut run......Durn it.
-It does not matter if you are heavily
outnumbered in a fight involving martial arts: your enemies will wait
patiently to attack you one by one, dancing around in a threatening
manner until you have knocked out their predecessors. -Honest and hard-working policemen are traditionally gunned down three days before their retirement.
-Incompetent police officers are inevitably corrupt. -All beds have special
L-shaped sheets that reach the armpit level of a woman, but only the
waist level of the man lying beside her.
-At least one of a pair of identical twins is born evil. -Most laptop computers are powerful enough to override the communications system of any invading alien society.
-All grocery bags contain at least one stick of French bread. -Rather than wasting
bullets, megalomaniacs prefer to kill their arch enemies using
complicated machinery involving fuses, pulley systems, deadly gasses,
lasers, and man-eating sharks, which will allow their captives at least
a half-hour to escape.
-You're very likely to survive any battle in any war
unless you make the mistake of showing someone a picture of your
sweetheart back home. -A man will show no pain while taking the most ferocious beating, but will wince when a woman tries to clean his wounds.
-If a large pane of glass is visible, someone will be thrown through it before long. -If in a haunted house, any strange noises should be investigated by women in their most revealing underwear.
-Even when driving down a perfectly straight road,
it is necessary to turn the steering wheel vigorously from left to
right every few moments. -All bombs are fitted with
electronic timing devices with large red readouts so you know exactly
when they're going to go off, but luckily no matter which wire you cut
it will always be the right one.
-A detective can only solve a case once he has been suspended from duty. -Police departments give
their officers personality tests to make sure they are deliberately
assigned a partner who is their total opposite.
-Babysitters are doomed.
-All the 'teenagers' in a school are in reality well past their teenage years. -Everyone splits up to hunt for the ghost/monster/serial killer.
-There's nothing better than running through the
woods in the dark, waving torches and shouting Dave, where are you? all
the time followed by the serial killer. -Whenever you go into a bar
in a film, the bartender is always polishing glasses. Doesn't matter if
it's a posh bar or a dodgy one, that's all he does all the time,
polishing glasses.
-When paying for a taxi, do not look at your wallet
as you take out a note. Just grab one out at random and hand it over.
It will always be the exact fare. -Creepy music (or satanic chanting) coming from a graveyard should always be closely investigated.
-The Protagonist can always find
inspiration/motivation for the big challenge from dead best friends or
dead family members. -Single parents usually lose their spouse to cancer (and they're still not over it).
-James Bond never gets an STD. -James Bond also never seems
badly affected by the amount of alcohol he drinks - sexual, gambling
and driving prowess's remain intact.
-Dogs and children know immediately that someone is the bad guy. -Good guys never get shot in the face and no matter how grievously injured, always live long enough to say a few words.
-All gratings covering the entry to a ventilation
system will come off with only a tug (no screws), and the shaft is
always horizontal and big enough for adults to crawl through. -Any group of pathetically inept losers with a boozy but lovable old coach will eventually win the championship.
-No one ever forgets a telephone number, even if it
was only communicated in the middle of a gunfight or car chase. -At least one scientist is from an oriental background.
-People hack into computers by incessantly typing on
the keyboard. Even though they don't appear to be working in DOS mode,
they never use the mouse. -Sadistic killers are also witty stand-up comedians specializing in one-liners.
-Bombs are always defused within the last three
seconds, never at twelve or twenty seven. NOTE: This doesn't apply in
James Bond, in Gold Finger. He stops it at 007 seconds to go. -Detectives hunches are always correct.
-Any fight at a wedding reception will always result in someone crashing into the wedding cake. -There is always a gun in reach when you fall onto the ground.
-When the hero is running and the bad guys are
shooting at him with a machine gun, the bullets will consistently hit
the ground just behind his feet. This is because it's impossible to
swivel a machine gun as quickly as the hero is running. -In car chases the hero car
just avoids the woman pushing the pram across the road. Then it crashes
through lots of market stalls (usually fruit and vegetable stalls),
destroying the livelihoods of perfectly innocent hard-working people
but never actually killing any of them.
-A photo and newspaper clippings wall, containing
all the villain's crimes and killings, is always stumbled across by the
hero, typically under a bare light bulb in the killer's basement. -When the lead detective has
a meeting with his team, it is always productive and completed in
seconds or minutes. Every one contributes vital pieces of information
and the conversation flows flawlessly with everyone possessing super
intelligence and quick thinking abilities.
-Just as the hero and villains fight ends, with the hero winning, about a dozen police cars show up. -When about to have sex, clothes melt seamlessly off bodies. No one ever needs to sit down and take off shoes and socks.
-Whenever anyone receives a phone call in the middle of the night, it's always 2, 3 or 4am. Exactly. -The Eiffel Tower can be seen from any window of any building in Paris.
-Getaway cars never start first time. But all cop
cars do and they will also slide to a dramatic stop in the middle of a
crime scene. Unfortunately they crash more than any others cars too. -On a police stake-out, the
action will only ever take place when food is being consumed and
scalding hot coffees are perched precariously on the dashboard.
-Cars never need fuel (unless they are involved in a pursuit). -Inspiring speeches almost always end in that character being immediately and horrifically killed.
Cars will explode instantly when struck by a single bullet. -Cars always have a set of spare keys in the glove box.
-Prostitutes always look like Julia Roberts or Jamie
Lee Curtis. They have expensive clothes and nice apartments but no
pimps. None of their clients -rich or poor- beat them, or abuse them
etc. They aren't heroin addicts nor have STDs. They are friendly with
the shopkeepers in their neighborhood who do not mind at all what the
girl does for a living. -A single match is usually sufficient to light up a room the size of a football stadium.
-One man shooting at 20 men with a handgun has a
better chance of killing them all than 20 men firing at once with
machine guns. -When you turn out the light to go to bed, everything in you room will still be visible, just slightly bluish.
-Plain or even ugly girls can become movie star
pretty simply by removing their glasses and rearranging their hair. -Anyone can land a 747 as long as there is someone in the control tower to talk you down.
-During all police investigations it will be necessary to visit a strip club at least once. -In all martial art movies
the hero can beat up 30 ninjas and martial art masters in 5 minutes.
But if he smart mouths to his 100 year old grandma, she has the speed
to slap him.
-If there is a pool, someone will end up falling into it. -If you get hit in the leg
or arm with a bullet, even a small caliber one, you just swear briefly,
then carry on fighting for ages and walking around without any pain at
all, nor do you seem to lose blood. When 12 hours later you go to the
doctor, he takes the bullet out instantly, you don't need the limb
amputated or even bandaged.
- Any couple that fights in the beginning is bound to end up together. -The protagonist has a
minimalist apartment in a skyscraper with full window walls. He wakes
up and stands nude, contemplating the city vista.
- The crazy old aunt/bum is actually very intelligent and provides key insight at the last minute. -If you ever need to hide a
child while you go off to battle your enemies, there's always a long
lost relative who lives somewhere remote that will be more than happy to
receive them in the middle of the night.
-Subway/Elevator doors close just as the character reaches them in a mad dash. -It is always possible to park directly outside any building you are visiting.
-No one ever has to take a shit. Ever. -If you decide to start dancing in the street, everyone you bump into will know all the steps.
-When a person is knocked unconscious by a blow to
the head, they will never suffer a concussion or brain damage. -No one involved in a car chase, hijacking, explosion, volcanic eruption or alien invasion will ever go into shock.
-When they are alone, all foreigners prefer to speak English to each other. -You can always find a chainsaw when you need one.
-Any lock can be picked by a credit card or a paper
clip in seconds, unless it's the door to a burning building with a
child trapped inside. -An electric fence, powerful enough to kill a dinosaur will cause no lasting damage to an eight-year-old child.
-Television news bulletins and radio programmed
usually contain a story that affects you personally at that precise
moment you turn the television on. -People having conversation in a cafe never seem to finish their food and just take off after their conversation is over.
-Everybody carries around flip phones which can be broken like a pencil and thrown away. -There is no limit to which a street camera can be zoomed and apparently they are present everywhere.
-The protagonist can jump over rooftops with ease
and can save himself from falling even if he gets the tip of his finger
over the wall. -Women turn into martial arts experts whenever they are dressed in tight suits.
-It doesn't matter what kind of job you have in NYC,
you can afford a spacious brownstone house in a good neighborhood. -If you are an evil
mastermind, then all bad news is the mistake of the messenger and it
makes perfect sense to shoot/kill/maim/hurt them.
-Any car that is wrecked will catch fire and burn.
People who have suffered head and neck injuries in car accidents are
needlessly harmed by well-intentioned would-be rescuers who believe
this. -Mobile phones only work until you really need them then you will either be unable to get a signal or the battery will be flat.
-A defibrillator can revive dead people. In fact, you would use heart massage on a dead person. -People can be knocked out
for hours with one punch and with no long term health issues, when in
reality if you are knocked unconscious for longer than a few seconds
you will probably experience fairly serious brain damage.
-In any dangerous situation the good guy will leave
the pretty girl in a safe place, where the bad guy will kidnap or kill
her. -In any situation involving a
group of people the natural leader will get everything so screwed up
that only the most worthless member can save the day.
-The bad guy will always be shot/stabbed from the
back just as he goes to pull the trigger or bring down a knife on the
good guy. -Your six-shot revolver can fire 17 times without reloading. and 19 Indians fall down.
-A professor is always interrupted in the middle of a
lecture by the bell or when something important is about to be told.
The same goes in any detective film. Just as someone is about to tell
the detective who the murderer is, after they keep stalling, as the
open their mouth to say who it is, someone shoots them. -No-one ever says 'bye' at
the end of a phone call; one person will just terminate the call
without the other thinking this rude.
-People can hold their breath underwater for ages, especially in panicky situations. -The sound from an explosion in
space can propagate through the vacuum and be heard and felt, sometimes
violently, by an observer in a distant spacecraft. The travel time of
the sound is also instantaneous regardless of how many millions of kilometers away the observer is located.
Well I am down with the "Crud" like BRM discussed a few days ago.
I was going to do a posting on the new play floated by the FCC to put monitors in the newsrooms to make sure that people get the news they "need to have"....Funny question..."Need to have" by whose defination?...A government hack that will make sure the party line is adhered to and nothing embarrassing of the regime makes it out? But apparently that quickly died after the news broke. The bad thing is that none of the major news organs complained about it.
So I decided to roll out with a few pics that I had saved for a while and figured I would throw them out just to chum the waters.
Y'all noticed that he made that comment a few years ago, but he only tries to disarm the people over here. Overseas, he funnels guns and money to the various Muslim groups including the Muslim brotherhood that tried to take over Egypt.
Here is another pic of the same kind of thing that I have had in my folder for a few years.
Now since I ain't feeling up to snuff, I will add a few other pics......No Rule 5 stuff, my son reads my blog and I would catch hell from the spousal unit for that one. I have another pic that I saved, I in a past life was a Domino's Pizza Manager for about 3 years. I did this after I got out of the service in 1991. It was a thankless job and it was dangerous. I and several of my drivers have been robbed, and I have the stitches on my head from the 15 year old black kid that did it. I know that corporate policy was " no guns, and don't resist a robbery. Give them what they want." The policy was put in place not for the safety of the driver, but to keep the company from getting sued if a driver shoots a robber. That policy might have worked back when I was delivering back in the mid 80's, but you now have kids out there trying to build their Street Cred or Street Cred , they would "put a cap in yo ass". I carried as did 3/4 of my drivers. I had told them" Corporate policy is don't resist, but it is better to be tried by 12 than to be carried by 6. You can get another job, you can't get another life."
I also told them, that if I heard of them flashing a gun around, I would have to can them. "It wouldn't be personal, it was business." The drivers understood where I was coming from. The last time I delivered was when I was working at Papa Johns for 6 months after the Ford Plant closed before my present employer hired me. I will not do it again unless the wolf is at my door and I have no other options.
Now off to some Saturday morning cartoons:)
Well let me go looking on youtube for some gratuitous Saturday morning cartoons.
I have published this back when I first started blogging and I figured I would dust it out and see how it goes. I have been busier than Obama sucking up to Liberals, LGBT,eco-radicals, unions,Hollywood Celebrities, muslims, communist, socialist, vacations, playing golf.
I will explain them to the best of my ability,
The soap box, You can say whatever you want against the government and they can't lock you up, and send you to a gulag. The Ballot Box: You can vote for whomever you want and not be threatened to be sent to a camp or have a tire wrapped around your neck if you don't support the Junta. The Jury Box: The rules apply to everybody equally, there is no set of laws for average people and 1 set of laws for the elitist. unlike some countries.
The Cartridge box, We open it when the government takes the other rights and we have ballot 308, some have 30-06 and a lot of them have ballot 5.56/ We open this box to get the others back
I have this pic for several years and decided to post it. This is to us that are dealing in snowmageddon II, I an having doubts about trying to go in tonight, I can drive in the snow...Ice is a different creature.
I am doing a "funny", I ran across the web surfing around, saw my favorite "Far Side" cartoon. The last time I saw this cartoon, was at a Spencers novelty store at Southlake mall in the early 80's. I remembered that it was a poster and I wish I had purchased it back then but I was heading to the video arcade to play Battlezone and Zaxxon. I kinda wish I had bought the poster. I probably would still have the poster. I have a "Wile E Coyote and the Roadrunner" poster amongst all of my various souvenirs from my military travels and swag gotten from Ford Motor company and my present employer. That is where I keep all of my many history books,my relic computer with the faithful Windows XP, my comic books from Fox Trot, Bloom County and All of my Far Side Cartoons. among many other things. It is my mancave, \This place has camo netting on the windows, and other things that would offend my wife if it was any other place in the house. Her decorating taste stop at the door. I have a sign that my wife got for me a couple of years ago:
All of my "Far Side" books, none had this cartoon. I just happened to run across it I think doing a google search for something else and I was very surprised since I haven't seen this cartoon in decades.
I have looked for this cartoon for many years and ran across it purely by accident. I wish I could find it in poster from but will have to settle for the digital image.
I remembered laughing my a$$ off when I saw it. I kept thinking about the kids sneaking around the corner at school trying to catch a smoke before they got caught by the principal or a teacher. Remember this was the early 80's and the kids still had fear of authority figures...Unlike now.
I ran across this while surfing around on one of the 2 wheeler forums that I frequent. I decided to add picture to each item so the visually challenged have an idea of what the &^%%$# tool it is referring to. After reading this you will be in the knowledge to save yourself some trouble. This is a Public Service Announcement of this blog and the writer(me).
