Rick Perry and changing the constitution

 I got this off here

I will add my comments in RED

(Kelly West/AP)
Rick Perry has many ideas about how to change the American government's founding document. From ending lifetime tenure for federal judges to completely scrapping two whole amendments, the Constitution would see a major overhaul if the Texas governor and Republican presidential candidate had his druthers. Perry laid out these proposed innovations to the founding document in his book, Fed Up! Our Fight to Save America from Washington. He has occasionally mentioned them on the campaign trail. Several of his ideas fall within the realm of mainstream conservative thinking today, but, as you will see, there are also a few surprises.
1. Abolish lifetime tenure for federal judges by amending Article III, Section I of the Constitution.
The nation's framers established a federal court system whereby judges with "good behavior" would be secure in their job for life. Perry believes that provision is ready for an overhaul.
"The Judges," reads Article III, "both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behavior, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services a Compensation which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office."
Perry makes it no secret that he believes the judges on the bench over the past century have acted beyond their constitutional bounds. The problem, Perry reasons, is that members of the judiciary are "unaccountable" to the people, and their lifetime tenure gives them free license to act however they want. In his book, the governor speaks highly of plans to limit their tenure and offers proposals about how to accomplish it.
"'[W]e should take steps to restrict the unlimited power of the courts to rule over us with no accountability," he writes in Fed Up! "There are a number of ideas about how to do this . . . . One such reform would be to institute term limits on what are now lifetime appointments for federal judges, particularly those on the Supreme Court or the circuit courts, which have so much power. One proposal, for example, would have judges roll off every two years based on seniority."
I tend to agree, the activist judges that legislate from the bench goes against the intent of our 3 branches of government.  The Legislature proposes the law, not the judiciary.
2. Congress should have the power to override Supreme Court decisions with a two-thirds vote.
Ending lifetime tenure for federal justices isn't the only way Perry has proposed suppressing the power of the courts. His book excoriates at length what he sees as overreach from the judicial branch. (The title of Chapter Six is "Nine Unelected Judges Tell Us How to Live.")
Giving Congress the ability to veto their decisions would be another way to take the Court down a notch, Perry says.
"[A]llow Congress to override the Supreme Court with a two-thirds vote in both the House and Senate, which risks increased politicization of judicial decisions, but also has the benefit of letting the people stop the Court from unilaterally deciding policy," he writes.
I would go with 3/4 overide, to make it more difficult, the judicial branch is to intrepret the constitution to its meaning and uphold the law.  The 3/4 vote will make it difficult for the legislature to overturn a ruling to prevent the legislature from acting in a fit of emotion.
3. Scrap the federal income tax by repealing the Sixteenth Amendment.

The Sixteenth Amendment gives Congress the "power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration." It should be abolished immediately, Perry says.
Calling the Sixteenth Amendment "the great milestone on the road to serfdom," Perry's writes that it provides a virtually blank check to the federal government to use for projects with little or no consultation from the states.
Fair tax or flat tax, abolish the IRS and vastly simplify the tax code
4. End the direct election of senators by repealing the Seventeenth Amendment.

Overturning this amendment would restore the original language of the Constitution, which gave state legislators the power to appoint the members of the Senate.
Ratified during the Progressive Era in 1913 , the same year as the Sixteenth Amendment, the Seventeenth Amendment gives citizens the ability to elect senators on their own. Perry writes that supporters of the amendment at the time were "mistakenly" propelled by "a fit of populist rage."
"The American people mistakenly empowered the federal government during a fit of populist rage in the early twentieth century by giving it an unlimited source of income (the Sixteenth Amendment) and by changing the way senators are elected (the Seventeenth Amendment)," he writes.
This would restore the balance in our federalist system, the senators would represent the states interest rather than becoming vassels of an overreaching federal system.
5. Require the federal government to balance its budget every year.
Of all his proposed ideas, Perry calls this one "the most important," and of all the plans, a balanced budget amendment likely has the best chance of passage.
"The most important thing we could do is amend the Constitution--now--to restrict federal spending," Perry writes in his book. "There are generally thought to be two options: the traditional 'balanced budget amendment' or a straightforward 'spending limit amendment,' either of which would be a significant improvement. I prefer the latter . . . . Let's use the people's document--the Constitution--to put an actual spending limit in place to control the beast in Washington."
A campaign to pass a balanced budget amendment through Congress fell short by just one vote in the Senate in the 1990s.
Last year, House Republicans proposed a spending-limit amendment that would limit federal spending to 20 percent of the economy. According to the amendment's language, the restriction could be overridden by a two-thirds vote in both Houses of Congress or by a declaration of war.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and reform entitlements
6. The federal Constitution should define marriage as between one man and one woman in all 50 states.
Despite saying last month that he was "fine with" states like New York allowing gay marriage, Perry has now said he supports a constitutional amendment that would permanently ban gay marriage throughout the country and overturn any state laws that define marriage beyond a relationship between one man and one woman.
"I do respect a state's right to have a different opinion and take a different tack if you will, California did that," Perry told the Christian Broadcasting Network in August. "I respect that right, but our founding fathers also said, 'Listen, if you all in the future think things are so important that you need to change the Constitution here's the way you do it'.
In an interview with The Ticket earlier this month, Perry spokeswoman Katherine Cesinger said that even though it would overturn laws in several states, the amendment still fits into Perry's broader philosophy because amendments require the ratification of three-fourths of the states to be added to the Constitution.
Republicans need to run as fiscal conservatives, the social stuff can wait until our house is in order.  This will stampede the independents right into the the Obungler's camp for 2012.   What 2 people do in their bedroom is their business, not the government.
7. Abortion should be made illegal throughout the country.
Like the gay marriage issue, Perry at one time believed that abortion policy should be left to the states, as was the case before the 1973 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade. But in the same Christian Broadcasting Network interview, Perry said that he would support a federal amendment outlawing abortion because it was "so important...to the soul of this country and to the traditional values [of] our founding fathers."
Republicans need to run as fiscal conservatives, the social stuff can wait until our house is in order.  This will stampede the independents right into the the Obungler's camp for 2012.    The LSM and the democraps will paint all the republicans with this statement and this will also stampede the independents to Obungler in 2012.  I don't like abortion, but it is the personal choice that all people have and the government will be legislating morality and this goes against the concept of limited government.

Rick Perry just marginalized his election chances and boosted the democraps and their 2012 chances.

Secret Service Buys Two New $1.1 Million Buses For Three-Day Trip…WITH OUR TAXPAYER MONEY

US President Barack Obama (C) walks to his bus as he arrives in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, Minnesota, August 15, 2011, where he is to begin his three-day bus tour in the Midwest centering on ways to grow the economy. (AFP PHOTO/Jim WATSON)
He FLYS into an airport somewhere in the midwest, hops into a brand new 1.1 Million $ bus, paid for by you and I,  for a “bus tour” ‘around the midwest’, and after an hour or so, gets driven back to the airport for ANOTHER FLIGHT, lands at another airport where another 1.1 Million $ brand new black bus is waiting for him… and repeats all that until his midwest bus‘tour’ is done??  Oh yes......and THEN he leaves on a 12 day vacation to Martha's Vineyard.......to REST UP from this campaign bus tour!
And don't forget........those brand new shiny black buses aren’t DRIVEN to the location where they meet Obama. Those buses are loaded up on one or more C-17s. Then, they are flown to the destination ahead of AirForce-1.
AND!.......this is REPEATED FOR EVERY CAMPAIGN STOP.
On this 'bus tour', the Prez will lecture the 'little people' on how they need to live within their means and cut-back!  Remember when very recently Obama told that family man to GO BUY A HYBRID VAN when he said he couldn’t afford to fill up his truck????
Obama's 'carbon footprint' must be as large as most cities by now.
All of this on the taxpayer's dime.....
But remember, this is NOT a campaign trip - it is "Meet with the people" trip only!  So that the DNC does NOT pay a cent for all of this.  John

Did you know “listen” and “silent” use the same letters?
Do you know that the words “race car” spelled backwards still spells
“race car”?And that “eat” is the only word that if you take the first letter and move it to the last, it spells its past tense “ate”?And have you noticed that if you rearrange the letters in “illegal immigrants,” and add just a few more letters, it spells: “Go home you free-loading, benefit-grabbing, resource-sucking, baby-making, non-English-speaking jackasses and take those other hairy-faced, rag-headed, sandal-wearing, bomb-making, camel-riding, goat-loving, raggedy-ass bastards with you.”How weird is that?

The Fruitbats in Kalifornia are back again......

My comments are in RED,  The truth of it is that if you expose kids to the proper use of firearms, you take the mystique out of firearms and the proper use of firearms, the kids are far less likely to abuse the firearms.  This is my son being taught the proper way to handle firearms.

This is a kneejerk reactions by liberals that have a visceral hatred of all things firearms and believe that to have a perfect utopia is to ban guns, but like all liberals, they forget to take into account human nature.  There will be always bad people in the world and the good people need to stay armed and ready to protect themselves and their family from the bad people that make poor choices in life.

A community organizer and others object to police teaching kids about guns

And in California, what was supposed to be a nice friendly event where local kids met and interacted with police officers went sour when neighborhood loons protested the fact that the police officers had...wait for it...GUNS!

Oh, NOEZ!!! Who would ever have expected that?

Here were the police officers, trying to establish a good rapport with the kiddies. Who could ever object to that? Well crack dealers, perhaps. And local fruitbats who got so bent out of shape over the presence of firearms that they tried to kill this event and any future ones like it.
Photos of officers from the Santa Rosa Police Department letting kids handle the department’s SWAT team weaponry at a community event has sparked a debate over how much exposure to guns is healthy for kids.

Community organizer Attila Nagy, who took the photos, told FoxNews.com that he was concerned it might encourage kids to use guns in the future.

"My main concern is for kids who handle these things. They're fascinated by them, and it makes them familiar with guns," he said.
Yeah, let's make sure that kids never become familiar with firearms, except of course those on TV and in the movies or video games. Let's treat real guns as "forbidden fruit" and make kids even more curious about them. Geez. That's an idea so dumb that I really wasn't surprised to hear it come from a self-identified "community organizer".

Excellent Analysis

THE REAL PROBLEM WITH OUR GOVERNMENTAL SYSTEM -
The folks who are getting free $hit,
Don't like the folks who are paying for the free $hit,
Because the folks who are paying for the free $hit,
Can no longer afford to pay for both the free $hit and their own $hit.

The folks who are paying for the free $hit, Want the free $hit to stop.
And the folks who are getting the free $hit,
Want even MORE free $hit on top of the free $hit they're getting already!

Now...the people who are forcing people to PAY for the free $hit,
Have told the people who are RECEIVING the free $hit,
That the people who are PAYING for the free $hit,
Are being mean, prejudiced and racist.
So...the people who are GETTING the free $hit,
Have been convinced they need to HATE the people who are PAYING for the free $hit because they are selfish.
And they are promised more free $hit if they will vote for the people who force the people who pay for the free $hit to to give them even more free $hit.

And that's the Straight $hit!

More bus story

It turns out that President Barack Obama’s multistate tour on jobs and the economy is taking place in a $1.2 million bus that was made in Canada rather than the United States.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus blasted Obama’s choice of a Canadian bus for the tour during a conference call with reporters Wednesday.

“We don't believe that it is any coincidence that the president is embarking on this sham jobs tour in his Canadian bus,” Priebus said. “He is doing this because this bus tour is nothing but another campaign jaunt for this president, who, as we all know, is absolutely in love with being the campaigner in chief.obama, bus, tour

"This is an outrage that the taxpayers of this country would have to foot the bill so that the campaigner-in-chief can run around in his Canadian bus and act as if he is interested in creating jobs in our country,” Priebus said.

Priebus also advised the president to spend more time in the White House finding ways to fix chronically high unemployment, rather than “planning his next vacation in Martha’s Vineyard.”

Obama and his family are scheduled to begin their annual vacation in exclusive Martha’s Vineyard after the bus tour. White House officials say the presidency and its responsibilities essentially travel with Obama, no matter where he goes. But Priebus wasn’t buying it.

"Two weeks ago, the president said that his number one focus would be jobs,” Priebus said. “And he promised, like he always likes to do through speeches, to put together a jobs plan. But yet again we have no plan from the president. We have no engagement from the president.”

The White House says Obama will speak to the nation about his job proposals in a post-Labor Day speech.

The New York Post reported Wednesday that Obama is barnstorming the heartland aboard a bus built by Quebec-based Prevost. The VIP H-45 model is a top-of-the-line bus that many rock bands use while on tour. It is equipped with armored doors and has other state-of-the-art security features, as well as Secret Service equipment.

According to the Post, officials ordered two of the Canadian-made buses in July 2010 from a Tennessee firm, Hemphill Brothers Coach. Hemphill Brothers installed custom upgrades to the interior before delivering the buses two months ago.

According to the Secret Service, when the president isn’t using the buses, they will be available to others under Secret Service protection. This could include the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, the Post reports

Obungler legacy

I remember back when Obungler was running for President and the liberal idjits were calling RINO McCain W Bush 3rd tour.  They did well running a campaign against W, Obungler was running as the Anti-Bush.  When I heard the frequent references to RINO McCain as being the 3rd term of W, I responded that Obama will be the 2nd term of Jimmy Carter.   History has proven me right.     Dang..I was hoping I was wrong for the sake of our country, it sucks being right.

Obungler's Debt End Bus Tour(Debt)

Obungler has been traveling around 3 states in s huge bus touting a prosperity tour, I read this from the Washington post that It seems that the taxpayers are on the hook for Obungler's incessant campaigning....he cannot lead but he can campaign like nobody else can.   Also the bus is making an impression with the political cartoonist.

President Obama wants us to believe that his bus tour of three battleground states is an attempt to get to know Americans better. No one is falling for it.
The commander in chief kicked off his roadshow in Rep. Michele Bachmann’s home state of Minnesota on Monday. He’ll follow up with a visit in Iowa right after the GOP straw poll and a final stop in Illinois. The three-day excursion sounds a whole lot like a campaign swing through key 2012 states, but federal taxpayers - not the Obama campaign - are picking up the tab.
The White House is pretending the “economic bus tour” is part of the president’s official duties. Aboard Air Force One on the flight to the heartland, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said, “The fact is that the president is not engaged in a primary election, and he is doing what presidents do, which is go out in the country and engage with the American people, have discussions about the economy and other policy issues.”
The bus was supposedly necessary because rural areas can’t handle the president’s usual mode of travel. “A plane this size is hard to get into small communities and small airports,” explained Mr. Carney.

Elephants are up in arms. Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus fired back at what he called “Obama’s Debt-End Tour.” He told reporters at Mr. Obama’s first stop in Cannon Falls on Monday that, “We are not going to stand idly by while this president perpetrates this fraud of a bus tour while using taxpayer dollars to spin his failure to put America back to work.”
Hawkeye State Republican Party Chairman Matt Strawn added, “The only difference between the GOP presidential campaign buses crisscrossing our state this summer and the president’s bus is the taxpayers are footing the bill for the president’s campaign swing in northeast Iowa.”
The RNC will air radio ads, web ads and call independent voters while Mr. Obama barrels though each state reminding the public of the damage he has done to the economy.
Just last week, the Obama administration approved job-killing fuel-economy mandates for trucks. Beginning in 2014, heavy vehicles - including buses - must live up to design standards set by the bureaucracy. The official regulatory impact analysis of the scheme predicted compliance costs of up to $47 billion.
When asked if the president’s blacked-out-window bus lived up to the new federal rules, a White House spokesman referred the question to the Secret Service. The presidential protection agency refused to give out any information on the capability of the vehicles.
Of course, a president is always vulnerable to attacks for using taxpayer resources for campaign activity as the lines are often blurred near election time. However, this case is clear: Candidates, not presidents, take bus tours. Plus, there sure isn’t any history of this president wanting to hobnob with middle America.
The Obama campaign is raising money hand-over-fist in its drive to get $1 billion in the bank for an uphill re-election bid. It can afford to reimburse the public for this expensive stunt.
It’s obvious Mr. Obama remains oblivious to the economic plight of ordinary Americans. After just three days in the rural midwest, Mr. Obama will vacation on Martha’s Vineyard with his real friends: wealthy liberals.

Gun control

I got This from Fuzzy's Dad

World history tells us of tyrants and dictators that have deprived the populace of their God given rights, especially the right to keep and bear arms. The Jewish Defense League (www.JDL.org) has advised that everywhere in World history where genocide has been committed, the genocide was always preceded by disarming the population. The party or government responsible for disarming may not always be the same party or government that committed the genocide, nonetheless, genocide was committed on the disarmed and defenseless.
There are even certain modern evils in the United Nations that must be monitored with vigilance lest the sovereignty of the United States and our Constitution become compromised. Many people have been ill informed or unaware of our own American history and the criminal element dictating laws that prevent honest men and women from their constitutional right to keep and bear arms. The “Tell”, or verbal history along with recorded documentation, has been told before. Some have forgotten, and others may never have known. Herein is a reminder:

You could be depressed....

I borrowed this from Irish, after I laughed my ass off. The horrible thing is that it is soo true, I almost want to cry....but since I am one of those warped people ...I laugh instead.

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel , "Pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the
Promised Land."

Nearly 75 years ago, (when Welfare was introduced) F. D. Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a Camel, this is the Promised Land."

Today, Congress has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of Camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

I was so depressed last night thinking about Health Care Plans, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc . .. .
I called a Suicide Hotline. I had to press 1 for English.  I was connected to a call center in Pakistan. I told them I was suicidal.  They got excited and asked if I could drive a truck......

Folks, we're screwed !!

Ode to Obungler

I shamelessly shoplifted this from here

Obama wants to play, party, and pontificate.
He wants to smile, steal from the rich, and install socialism.
He wants to lie, litigate, and leave his legacy.
He wants to complain, constrain, and campaign.
His vision is a utopia of muezzins at 5:00 o’clock, black brothers in polling places, and white people in cemeteries, a land where everything is free for oppressed minorities and paid for by successful entrepreneurs. He sees himself as a tanned Washington buying the world a Coke and singing Kumbaya with the mullahs as the world finds eternal peace in the insect-like world of Islam, where individual achievement is stifled, women’s rights are cancelled, and national treasuries are pilfered.
Obama is a duffer on a championship course swinging his football bat like a poofter and demanding that the local pro caddy for him. He wants free transportation, free food, free golf balls, free equipment, free greens fees, and free ice cream at the end of the round.
He knows as much about leadership and management as Mike Tyson knows about art and literature. He was an equal-opportunity fraud in college, a gangsta wannabe in Chicago politics, and a fraud in the Illinois senate. He is profoundly unaware of what’s going on in the world, completely indifferent to the desires of flyover country citizens, and spectacularly unequipped to comprehend his role in the office he occupies.
Obama was an unwanted child, an unwelcome Indonesian, an unhappy Hawaiian, an unproductive professor, an unqualified senator, and now an unfit president. His most significant accomplishments, his two books, were ghost-written by a domestic terrorist, and his wife has never been comfortable in her own skin. He is famous for absolutely nothing of interest, and capable of doing nothing of value.
He is a suppurating pustule on the body of American politics, a malignant carbuncle which should be excised immediately.

NASA 747

I have some pics of the now defunct NASA 747's used to transport the shuttle from place to place.  From what I can tell, they are 747-100 series aircraft.  I remember the first one used to transport the sub-orbiter Enterprise then I saw one in the Bond movie moonraker.  With the advent of Star wars and other SCI-FI movies seeing the shuttle was a real neat experience and on top of the most iconic aircraft in the world.
I will add more pics as soon as I get them off my e-mail

monday music

Now I have some monday music,   I was reading a post on the Berlin wall and that got me thinking about that time.  So I will add some monday music that deals with that time frame

99 luft balloons by Nina, this is the english version,  From what I remember back then, the lead singer didn't know english very well, so she read the translated version of the sing for the video.  I have heard a hybrid version where the lyrics would switch back and forth from German to English.
The Germans being on the front line of the cold war were always afraid that a war would start,  WWII and its aftermaths had scarred the German psyche, they were almost pacifistic in nature.  I saw a lot of cars over there with the "dove" peace sticker on it.

Now I will add the German Version.

Obunglers plan more truth in cartoons

I shamelessly lifted it from Theo

Ron Paul.....As President?

I saw this here

I have a lot of problems with Ron Paul, besides the overzealous followers.  His world view seems simplistic and I have noticed that the LSM keeps trying to portray Paul as the mainstream of the Republican party.

A reader asked me why I have such a low opinion of Rep. Ron Paul and his fan base. I gave him a rather lengthy answer, but my opposition to the candidate himself is summed up well enough in this reference from Rep. Allen West, who has a much better grasp of the way the  real world works.
Paul's "hand's off" philosophy if implemented after World War II, would have gleefully let Russia pile nuclear missile batteries in Cuba, and expand in Central and South America unopposed. It would have let the Iron Curtain extend fully over Western Europe, Africa, and the Korean peninsula. It would have certainly led to our decline as a world power, and quite possibly would have plunged free populations into tyranny, or even a third World War.
Simply put, Paul's beliefs, if implemented as policy, would constitute a clear danger to this nation's very existence.
My second objection to Paul is the cult-like followers he has attracted. That are every bit as zealous as the Obamites, and their constant screaming and yelling at events is off-putting (to put it mildly). I've seen enough of cult-leaders with destructive policy agendas. No more.
I'd contemplate sitting at home if it came down to Paul versus Obama. Sadly, I suspect more Americans would simply vote for Obama again in a landslide, assuring our fiscal collapse.

Decommissioned destroyer becomes reef.

I saw this on Yahoo, the article is here

We can't keep every ship that people serve on, but it is still with mixed emotions to see a ship get sunk, I supposed that it is better than making frying pans or razer blades out of her.  Ships have personalities and people get attached to them, especially those that serve on them.

ABOARD THE MV DELAWARE (AP) — Some sailors who served on the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Arthor B. Radfordgathered Wednesday to watch it be pushed to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to become part of a manmade reef.
"It's sad to see it being sunk," said Lee String, 46, of Westville, N.J., who served on the ship in 1985 as a welder, pipefitter and plumber. "It was once a proud-looking ship, but it's better to see it go to that purpose rather than razor blades."

More news from across the pond

Like I have stated on many occasions, I get my news from Europe also, notably England and Germany.  This is an article from here
The same people that burning and rioting in London and other cities we have here, what will happen here when the government gravy train stops.........We have the same underclass that subsist and get their cash from government largesses.  What will happen when the freeloaders are told that they have to actually produce something more than crime and more freeloaders to get more "free stuff from the gub-ment"

A few weeks after the U.S. city of Detroit was ravaged by 1967 race riots in which 43 people died, I was shown around the wrecked areas by a black  reporter named Joe Strickland.
He said: ‘Don’t you believe all that stuff people here are giving media folk about how sorry they are about what happened. When they talk to each other, they say: “It was a great fire, man!” ’
I am sure that is what many of the young rioters, black and white, who have burned and looted in England through the past few shocking nights think today.
Manchester: Hooded looters laden with clothes run from a Manchester shopping centre
Rich pickings: Hooded looters laden with clothes run from a Manchester shopping centre
It was fun. It made life interesting. It got people to notice them. As a girl looter told a BBC reporter, it showed ‘the rich’ and the police that ‘we can do what we like

If you live a normal life of absolute futility, which we can assume most of this week’s rioters do, excitement of any kind is welcome. The people who wrecked swathes of property, burned vehicles and terrorised communities have no moral compass to make them susceptible to guilt or shame.
Most have no jobs to go to or exams they might pass. They know no family role models, for most live in homes in which the father is unemployed, or from which he has decamped

They are illiterate and innumerate, beyond maybe some dexterity with computer games and BlackBerries.
They are essentially wild beasts. I use that phrase advisedly, because it seems appropriate to young people bereft of the discipline that might make them employable; of the conscience that distinguishes between right and wrong.
They respond only to instinctive animal impulses — to eat and drink, have sex, seize or destroy the accessible property of others.
